PC Gamers.

What genres do you use kb+m on and which do you use a controller on?
>>
I use controller for platformers, sports games, racing games, and 3rd person non-shooters. Everything else I use keyboard apart from fightan games.
>>
>>343226493
Controller for emulators and Dark Souls games. KB+M for literally everything else.
>>
KBM for FPS games
Gamepad for everything else

Please post more results I want to know if buying a controller is worth it for my PC build.
Just bought these games and IDK if I should use a controller for these.
>>
>start playing game with M+KB
>does this feel good?
>if no, switch to controller

that's my process for every game.
>>
>>343226871
This, but throw in racing games, some platformers.
>>
>>343226493
I use kb+m for everything except for console ports and emulation
>>
>>343226493
>gamepad
Basically everything
>kb+m
basically nothing
I'm a fat shit and i like to lie in bed when i game
>>
>>343226493
everything with M+KB except emulated games, or games without mouse support like Dmc

it's just the better control scheme, way more precise, way more possiblities, but harder to learn properly though I never had any problems with it
>>
>>343226956
yea you're going to want a controller for rising
>>
>>343226956
Why don't you try actually playing some games with a keyboard and mouse and then decide?

I want to reminde everyone that if You play dark souls with KBaM you are objectively playing it wrong and having less fun at the same time

I also use my controller for Dragons dogma but that's just my thing
>>
>>343227236
I don't have a PC yet. just buying games till it arrives late next month.

What controller do you recommend ?
>>
I use controller for RPGs unless they require precise targeting or movement, then I use keyboard/mouse.

I use controller for platformers and other console ports that aren't shooters.

FPS and RTS and other strategy games are always KB+M
>>
So invest in controller or Mechanical gaming keyboard?
>>
>>343227519
360 or Xbone controller.
>>
>>343227519
The Xbox one controller is supposedly the best controller ever made.
Not that anyone would know
>>
keyboard and mouse for nearly everything

i use my GOAT tier xbox one controller for a few things though, like emulators and splitscreen games
>>
>>343227519
ds3 or xbone

Is this any good
>>
>>343227814
Mechanical keyboard definitely.

it has more uses than just playing video games
>>
Emulated games,Souls Games, and fighting games (arcade stick). K+MS for everything else.
>>
>>343228490
yes
>>
>>343226493
Kb+M for anything First-Person and top view (like gestion, god games, city builders, RTS, etc.)
Gamepad for third person games, platformers, emulation, sidescrollers, etc.
>>
>>343228490
yes but you'll feel dumb for dropped $150 on a controller

wait for a price drop
>>
KB-M for games that either need precision aiming or a shitload of buttons.
Controller for games that need precision movement or have lots of directional inputs.
>>

i use a HOTAS and pedals in spaceflight simulation titles, MKB in everything else.

controllers are absolutely dogshit and i would happily give up the movement versatility of an analogue stick in favor of WASD for the precision that a nice mouse will provide.

rate waifu controllers

>>
>is the game first person? If yes then KB+M
>is the game anything that's not first person? Controller
>>
only time I pick kb+m is when the game doesn't have proper controller support.
Sure mouse is way more accurate, but wasd sucks ass for movement.
>>
>>343229193
Don't listen to this anon
>>
>>343226493
3rd person games - Controller
First person - kbm
Racing - Controller
Fighting - controller
RTS or strategy - kbm
RPG - Controller
2D shit - controller
>>
>>343227814
mechanical keyboards are just for fedoras.
>>
>>343228916
Was wondering this too, I've wanted to at least try one for a long time. My main worry is that as soon as I buy one they'll come out with a better controller as I've heard complaints about build quality and ergonomics.
>>
>>343228916
if on sale, yes, even if you dont use it everyday.
It has kinda Dark Souls curve (but so did original PSX joypad with 2 thumbsticks) but when you master it, its quite nice thingy to have,
but if you dont have money then m+kb & x360 joypad combo is optimal,
but saying that steampad is crap, is crappy statement.
>>
>>343228916
it's decent, but if you already have a 360 or xbone you've already got a better controller.
>>
>>343226493
controller: racing
kb+m: everything else
>>
I'm surprised at the amount of responses saying they play platformers and 2d emulated games on controllers. Why is that?
>>
Gamepad for RPG's, Racers, Plat formers, certain currrahzy action games.
Anything that doesn't need precision I prefer a controller for the comfy levels alone.
Except for comfy games that require a lot of key bindings, then im stuck KB+M
>>
>>343227814
>>343229543
I think an advantage to mechanical keyboards are that they last much longer. I got tired of replacing my shitty $20 keyboards every year or two so decided to just get a $80 mechanical one. I think it'll be worth it in the long run.

buy one of those
they are dirt cheap
>>
>>343229718
A dpad is way more comfortable and gives me better feeling of movement control than wasd for those games.
>>
any shooting or first person focused game with mouse/kb
action games in 3rd person that arent shooting focused controller
it really doesnt hurt to have a controller so you might as well get one
im using xbone one and its ok
>>
controller
Gta 5
dark souls

kb+m
everything else
>>
>>343229406
god almighty, what did they did with kids so they think RPGs could be played any other way than by moving hand in Gauntlet over their heads,
that shit is just sad.
Them be action adventures with gimmicky RPG elements what you talk about, even COD has RPG elements in itself these days..
>>
>>343228001
360 controller has always been my favorite.
Is the One that much better?
I don't even play my 360 anymore, just use the controller for PC.
>>343229718
I've always preferred to emulate with a controller.
I guess i'm just emulating the experience.
>>343229949
English?
>>
>>343229936
basically, games that were originally designed with consoles on their mind, with PC as an far afterthought
>>
>>343229949
Hey, it seems like you didn't know that there's a bunch of RPGs on pc that weren't built with isometric mouse control in mind. There are!
>>
>>343226493
use an arcade stick for fightan games, controller for bad console ports and kb+m for everything else. its less about the genre, more about how well the game works with kb+m
>>
>>343230039
it is, its just little 3gleep5u
Read it backwards
>>
>>343228001
can confirm
>>
>>343230141
name 1 one!!11
>>
Mouse/Keyboard
>Strategy
>FPS
>Some TPS
Controller
>Everything else
>>
>>343229819
durability is really the only thing they are good for. People like to claim activation depths, but with how hard you need to press to activate blacks, blues, and browns you'll probably end up bottoming out the key anyways and you can get an even shorter keypress from scissor switches than reds and pay only around $20 for a good one.
>>
>>343230383
Literally every one that was a console port.

It's a feature primarily from western made pc rpgs, so jrpgs don't really do that.
>>
All ports + platformers are controller, everything else is KBM.
>>
Controller for racing games, platformers, emulation, and some third person games.
M+kb for everything else.
>>
>>343230472
>>343230383
Pretty fucking sure Dragon Age: Origins did that.
Not even an obscure tittle.
>>
>>343230650
So?
>>
>>343230292
>Them be action adventures with gimmicky RPG elements what you talk about,
You may have used English as a template, but you did not execute it accordingly.
If it's your second language then ill stop being a dick.
>>
>>343226493
I use controllers for everything besides FPS and Tycoon/RTS.
>>
M+K: Shooters, first person games, games that center around management (strategy, city simulation, CRPG, etc.)

Controller: games that center heavily around moving fluently and pushing many buttons in short succession and often in combination (third person action, racing, fighting, etc.)

Also, a lot of Japanese console ports are designed completely around the assumption that you're using a controller, so without heavy interface mods (which basically don't exist here to my knowledge), playing with a M+K is clunky, despite the potential for it to be the smoothest way to play.
>>
Literally all of them except for competitive or fast paced shooters
>>
>>343226956
holy shit I can't even imagine playing rising without a controller
>>
>>343226493
Mouse and keyboard for anything that requires a camera and lots of shortcut keys
Mouse and flightstick for anything that requires a camera and precision movement and not over 20 buttons.
Controller for most other things.

I use a controller for Dark Souls, fighting games and other console ports.
>>
>>343226493

fps, strategy, misc. PC games with interfaces designed for kb+m (like spacechem)
>gamepad
everything else.

Xbox One Controller

mechanical keyboards are for hipster faggots

>>343228490
The best. But expensive
>>
>>343227293
>want to reminde everyone that if You play dark souls with KBaM you are objectively playing it wrong and having less fun at the same time

Faggot.
>>
>KB+M
First person shooters, third person shooters

>Controller
Everything else

Also FPS and TPS are the only genres I play on PC since I actually hate using a controller at my desk. I prefer to play "controller games" in bed on console. PC will remain at my desk, where I like it
>>
KBM for literally everything ever
Controller for twin stick shooters
Fightpad for fighting games
Steering Wheel for driving games
