Why is Hiragana and Katakana so aesthetically appealing?

Do you play video games in their native Japanese language ?
>>
yes if im speedrunning because japanese games read text faster
but you're right, asian languages are the most beautiful on the earth
>>
>>343213868
8/10 because most people won't realize what you did.
>>
>>343214160
Meh, Korean has too many circles in their language.

Korea is SHIT.
>>
>I posted it again!
>>
>>
>>343213868

Probably because it's foreign. The Nips think English characters are the shit, after all (and they usually use the worst fucking font when using English characters in manga).

Yeah I play Japanese games in Japanese most of the time.
>>
You will never be Japanese, no matter how many kimonos you own, you fat greasy weeb.
>>
>>343215573
that's only if you're WHITE my nigga
>>
>>343215573

What makes you think I want to be Japanese? They have such a shitty culture. I only like their video games, some of their comics and cartoons, and their porn.

I have a Japanese friend and I am planning to soul transfer myself into her body as we speak
she will disappear forever, "I" will be found dead, and "she" will continue her life with a sudden interest in Japanese BL games

But then you would have to have sex with men

...you're not going to do that, right?

I miss having fun i want to die
>>
>>343216241
it looks so good in japanese
>>
Hiragana is fine.

Katakana is fine.

Kanji is the fucking devil's writing system.
>>
>>
>>343216867
The only thing worse than Japanese with Kanji is Japanese without Kanji.

Ever try playing NES RPGs? Good fucking luck if it's one where they didn't bother putting spaces in between words.
>>
>>343216867

It's not that bad once you get used to it. Still wished they'd use something more sane though. The fact that it's even worse than how the Chinese do it doesn't make it any better.

>>343217134

I've never come across a kana only game with no spaces, but I haven't played many kana only games.

>>343216619

Kirby is a series where I don't really think the language matters. I like the Japanese logos, and I definitely prefer seeing the Japanese food items, but it's really just small differences that even I am not bothered about at the end of the day. I started playing the series in Japanese though, I might just continue that way. Not like there's much dialogue or anything to read though, I don't even know if I'll go through the trouble of forcing Planet Robobot to display in Japanese. Then again I don't trust NoA's localizations at all anymore.

If you can read Nip, you should play the PSX version.
>>
>>343213868
>Do you play video games in their native Japanese language ?
I do, and in fact even when I don't I'd prefer it in a lot of cases over playing castrated Western versions, but am hindered by the hardware to do it (region lock).
>Why is Hiragana and Katakana so aesthetically appealing?
I don't think they are particularly more appealing than our alphabet.
Maybe it seems to you like that, since you can't read them.

Shouldn't that be チャック ノッリッス?
>>
>>343217818

Yeah. Sly Cooper, Kurt Russell, Keanu Reeves. I saw then in a thread you made a day or two ago.
>>
>>343218534
I was trying to think of another person so instead I just went with Sly Cooper.
>>
誰が日本語を勉強している?
I'm still a newbie and can't read more than 100 kanji yet, but getting there.
>>
>>343217786

I can read the and I still think they look kinda nice.

Not all localizations are shit. There are good ones out there, but it's true that they're definitely in the minority. Certain games I like better in English, like Dark Souls or MGS or Resident Evil since they're so western in setting anyway. For games like Smash Bros or something, it doesn't really matter.

Though I made it a point to play as many text-heavy games in Japanese as I can, and after nearly two years of almost constant Japanese gaming, it's starting to wear me down a little. Probably because I'm trying to go through so many so fast, because there's so much I want to play. Once I can slow down again I'm sure I'll go back to fully enjoying it.
>>
>>343218790
Probably should be 誰か since you're asking a question.

Not native, so feel free to ignore me.
>>
>>343218879
Be careful to not limit your exposure to only games.

Most games have a similar vocabulary range and will only help you feel more demoralized than normal if you attempt to digest anything that's not game related, like a song or a newscast.
>>
>>343220138

Yeah I know. I translate all the damn time too, so that helps. It's just that, I learned it primarily for video games, video games are my biggest hobby, so I use it for games more than anything. I'm also reading Mardock Scramble though so that's something.
>>
>>343213868
japanese looks like shit
learn a real language
>>
>>343220541
Like German. Right Amirite?
>>
>>343219784
He could have put か at the end to make it even more obvious that it's a question, but he definitely shouldn't have replaced the subject particle with the question mark.
>>
>>343220896
why?
>>
>>343220756
Yeah, amirite?
>>
>>343214214
What did he do
>>
>>343221795
Because, uh, that's how their grammar works. か as a question indicator goes at the end of a sentence. You could use 誰か as in "someone", but it would still need to be followed by a particle to denote its function in the sentence.
>>
>>343222343
やった !
Glad to know my sentence was correct in a sense.
