I had nothing to do today so I played it a bit and it's at best mediocre.
Combat is functional and it does require you to pay attention to what's going on because enemies hit pretty hard. It's brought down by retarded AI that cannot even handle corners at times and hp bloat on enemies.
Character development is fairly diverse, but I feel like boring +10% to whatever passive buffs take way too much space in skill trees over actually interesting abilities. The active abilities that you can learn offer two mutually exclusive upgrades which is kinda neat, but they're still just passive buffs added on top rather than modifications of the base ability. There's also talents like crafting, science, or persuasion with three skill levels each. However, there are very easy to acquire items in the game that can boost these talents by +1 for no requirement. Meaning that there is little point in maxing talents at +3 when you can just leave them at +2 and equip magic clothing when you need to use them. Especially when you take into account that succeeding in checks is a percent-based chance that can be savescummed anyway.
Writing fucking sucks. The setting is some pretty generic dystopian corporations oppressing the little man and waging senseless wars over resources and shit. I could get over it, but I swear that something in Mars' atmosphere must have made everyone in the game mentally retarded. For a quick example, after the tutorial mission, you are given the stunning revelation that people who shoot fucking electricity out of their asses are actually, wait for it, mutants. Everyone is shocked by this and it is a closely guarded secret.
Do not fucking buy. It's at best worth a pirate if you are really bored.

The combat reminds me of jade empire in many ways, and its actually pretty hard- the levels are big and labyrinthine like in kotor and ME1, the soundtracks are pretty good and the game overall has pretty good atmosphere, it simply doesnt have the star wars IP or the marketing push of mass effect to guarantee sales

I'm kind of enjoying it but the hitboxes are absolute garbage. The first boss has a tiny little double stab attack but it deals damage to the whole arena in front of it. It's pretty much impossible to fight without the staff because it has the most invincibility on its dodge.
And enemies being invincible when they attack is kind of bullshit too, because it's not like they're pushovers.
