genuine question, are any open-world japanese games actually good?
I have not played many but the ones that I have played (stuff like Monster Hunter and Xenoblade) were pretty boring and VERY repetitive.
I feel like repetitive games deserve a 6-7/10 score if everything else is fine. doesn't mean it's a bad game anyway

I'd like to talk about someone I always see in Japanese game reviewers always complain about "tropes". I don't deny for a second that Japs re use token character archetypes all the fucking time but Western games do the exact same shit just different kind of tropes. Yet I never see this called out or used as a big negative in western game reviews.

i stayed up until now (12:19pm EST) from yesterday to beat the game
guess what happenedfuckin final boss gets stuck in his final form right before the guffin does the thing to let it take damage, so he's invincible and my party has been whacking at him for 15 minutes now and i'm not going to fight his first two forms again so i'm done with this fucking game fucking chinks can't code for shit god damn squint eyes maybe if they opened their fuckin optical receptors they'd be able to make a game code that didn't fuck me over
