It felt like a plausible idea back when KSSU was Galacta Knight's only appearance. People seem to forget that his flavour text in that game didn't just describe him as a warrior from another dimension, but a warrior who was BANISHED to another dimension for being too powerful. It's certainly a tantalizing thought that Kirby, after "growing up" and becoming more like his mentor Meta Knight, might one day become so powerful that the powers that be of his universe would have to lock him away.
For better or for worse this detail about Galacta Knight's backstory hasn't been mentioned again.

The bossfights and music are pretty fucking great. Especially some of the remixes this game has. The level design is seen as better than Triple Deluxe and Returns, even if by a little. It helps that all the robotized settings make for fun yet relatively new backdrops for Kirby.

So I'm a little confused about Star Dream. He was not created by Haltmann, but was found and reactivated right? How did Haltmann supply his credentials to the computer as an admin? He doesn't seem like a match for the likes of Dark Matter, Queen Sectonia or Galacta Knight.
Another thing I'm confused about is with Nova. I know there are multiple Novas in the universe, but it seems like the Nova in Robobot is a reconstruction from the one in Super Star since in the fight, it attacks you with some of the same parts like the compass and light bulb. Triple Deluxe. Robobot's level design might be a bit better, and its gimmick is better, but the finale isn't as good, the subgames aren't as good, the gimmick wasn't used as well as it could have been, and Meta Knightmare has less novelty than Dededetour because it's been done before. None of the new abilities in Robobot were as good to me as Beetle was, and they even went as far as to cut Beetle, so that was a bit disappointing, even though the newer ones were ok.

I said all of this shit in another thread recently. Masked Dedede followed by Masked Dedede's Revenge was way better than Mecha Knight+. You fought Mecha Knight just a couple of worlds ago. Sectonia's first form was way better than Haltmann, and similar to Mecha Knight, fighting Susie earlier on was like fighting Haltmann lite. The Star Dream fight was a great shooting section, but it went on for three phases and didn't end with the standard on-foot finale sequence that I was hoping for, that gets saved for the True Arena, when it should have been at the end of the main story with something else at the end of the True Arena.
Robobot doesn't have a lot of originality in its boss lineup. This comes out sometimes in terms of the fights themselves and sometimes just conceptually. You've got Whispy again, API who just summons old bosses, Susie, who is new, Meta Knight again, Dedede again with a twist second phase, Meta Knight AGAIN, Haltmann, who is essentially an upgraded version of the Susie fight, then Star Dream, which is an entirely new fight but still familiar in concept to Nova. Even the True Arena adds Dark Matter, Sectonia, & Galacta Knight all again. Robobot puts a lot of new spins on its bosses, but Triple Deluxe had more straight originality. And even though both games do shit like remix Whispy Woods, it's just going to become less fresh the more you see it.
Planet Robobot has a much better gimmick than Triple Deluxe did with the robobot armor, and completely neglects to use it in any substantial way in the finale. You never fight a boss in your armor. Halberd mode does not count. Triple Deluxe using its admittedly inferior gimmick in the finale showed better escalation and provided a better climax. I'm even one of those fuckers who loves Gurren Lagann right here in 2016, but Kirby busting out a drill at the last second for a complete setpiece sequence where you just spin the slider around doesn't really have the same impact.

Comment got too long, but I want to elaborate that I don't feel Halberd mode counts because that relates to the Robobot Armor solely in terms of story. This comes through the most in the True Arena where you don't get any cutscenes besides a couple of short ones through the Star Dream fight. You do all of these fights on foot as Kirby and in the next fight you're just a pink Halberd. Your healthbar even just says "Halberd", and the Halberd is something you're already familiar with in the Kirby series, there's almost no reason to believe Kirby couldn't just be piloting Meta Knight's repainted halberd normally. If all you're looking at is the plot, then sure, the Robobot sees use there, the cutscene where Kirby takes control of the Halberd is fucking sick as hell, but Hypernova's effect on the final boss sequence is felt in gameplay and is very satisfying.
Even before that, Triple Deluxe had a great moment earlier on where you get to fight Flowery Woods again with Hypernova and totally decimate him to the point that you end up sucking up HUD elements. Stuff like that is really just flavour, it isn't a real fight, but at least you press the buttons to do the shit as the player and it adds to the feeling of escalation and helps make a better climax later on.

One last quick comment, the name drop of "Eternal Dreamland" for the last world is a lot better than "Mind in the Program", and it helps that without Eternal Dreamland, the worlds beforehand still spell out FLOWER, the ED is just added on. Until you get Mind in the Program, all you've done is PROGRA, it's obvious there's more if you know about the naming scheme. And only the M there counts, unless they were going for PROGRAMitP, and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they weren't. Robobot felt the most like following trends and formulas as best they could even when it didn't work, and turning to the player with a wink and going "hey, remember this thing". He's simply a powerful being from a long forgotten age. He's basically an evil Meta Knight; with that kind of power and without someone like Kirby/Meta Knight/King Dedede/B. Waddle Dee to stop him, he was able to do whatever he wanted. At some point, some creature (maybe the past version of Kirby?) went to NOVA and wished for him to be locked away for good, and so he was. Thus, NOVA (and by extention the Dream Machine, since they're the same thing, for some reason) keeps him in storage to use as a tool for whenever someone wants to fight him. I'm always a big sucker for Kirby games, but I was pretty disappointed. I should've seen it coming, but it's just Triple Deluxe with robot mech. The mech is only really used for puzzles (you only get to fight a mini-boss in it once, not counting the jet form). The obligatory 3 secret objects per level are generally super easy to find, and I find that even for a Kirby game, it's REALLY easy. Even if you go out of your way to 100% it (which isn't really far out of your way at all) it only lasts about 8-10 hours. Lore is lazy and the majority of bosses are rehashes. It's not worth getting, period.

Even with that rationalization, it's bad design to have Dedede kill what are seen as his iconic loyal minions. From a storytelling perspective, designing new enemies would have been the best route, make flower and insect varients of the iconic enemies, shouldn't be hard. At this point though it feels like these are more just the generic denizens of Dream Land which some happen to follow Dedede rather than an organized group belonging solely to Dedede, these enemies haven't been presented as his army is a long while and even in Super Star you fight plenty of them under ground, in Meta Knights side or in other goddamn planets. Dedede has waddle dees and such under him but not all in existance are his army, its not like the Meta Knights who clearly have his namesake and swore loyalty.
And I mean really, we're talking about the dude who built a castle and called himself king and order some people around, do you expect inhabitants in the other side of pop star to even know who the fat fuck is?

Well by default Dream Lands original plot makes a distinct between people who follow Dedede and people who don't, Dreamlanders had their food and stars stolen by Dedede's followers and Kirby has to get it back by going into the realms he has control over
As for bosses they're powerful enough to not always want to help Dedede, Whispy Woods is seen in multiple places, Kracko is the god of the sky and he can side with whoever he wants, etc. They basically follow who has power and Dedede lost his credentials with them
