Will Phantom Pain go lower?
Thinking of Age of Wonder III. Wanted to try out a 4X for once.
Is Doom worth $35.99? Note: I love Wolfenstein and think it's worth at least double its $9.99 sale price.
>>343134996
I know that feel. Partially because at 3,400 games I'm reaching the point where the only stuff left is weeb garbage and early access survival games, but there are still a few games I want and the discounts aren't good.
0% off Exanima what bullshit is this.
This is what I'm looking at so far.
>>343134853
>tfw debating over buying new games or games you already played or pirated but still love
Windward is a surprisingly solid game for 3 bucks.
Needs work, but it's pretty fun.

I want good stealth. I've played all the big names and some of the not-so-big ones to get my fix but it's not enough
>>343135330
Out of sheer curiousity, how much of your library have you actually played?
Thinking EU4 and Darkest Dungeon.
Had Far Cry 2 in the basket too, but it's gonna be one of those games I buy and never play and I already have too many of those already.
am cheap should I get these 2 or terraria
>>343134968
1 or 2? I've only played 2, and I would strongly recommend it if you're willing to get past having to rebind some of your controls and a bit of a difficulty spike in the early game. Idk about System Shock 1, but from what I've heard it's very good.
Is grim fandango worth it?
>>343135119
AoW3's excellent, but it's best with the expansions. They add quite a lot to the game, even though vanilla has had significant patches and updates I'd probably say hold off on it until you wanna go whole hog.*
*Although you could buy vanilla and play just shy of 2 hours of it and then decide if you wanna refund or pick up the DLC.
>>343135298
I bought it for around $30 from gray market and got around 30 hours out of it, 100%ing all achievements and secrets and challenges and shit. Really enjoyed it.
>>343135478
Good stealth, eh. Well here's a quick rundown on some good stealth games that aren't huge names.
Styx
Invisible Inc (Turn based tactics stealth, but it really nails the stealth aspect. Would still highly recommend it as a stealth game)
Neon Struct (Pretty basic but still reasonably good stealth game)
This War of Mine (Not entirely stealth, but if you go after hostile areas you can get some good sneaking and murdering)
Not a big list but I'm just pulling it out of my ass at a moment's notice.
>>343135549
Hard to say with any accuracy. I run card idling shit so I've got hours on tons of indie garbage I don't care about, and my Steam account is older than when they started permanently tracking time played so some of my older shit doesn't have any time listed. I do play a bunch of it though, cracking 100 hours on a game is a relatively rare occurrence for me, and only my top 15-20ish games are that much.
>>343135390

Just bought these, how'd I do?
>>343134853

>>343137161
Not really, it's a lot smaller scale and more clearly gamey. There are really specific and concrete rules in Invisible Inc so generally speaking you'll know exactly what's going to happen if you plan shit out. Commandos (As I remember, been ages so I could be fucking up) is realtime with pause so there's more wiggle room for shit to go bad. You also control smaller squads in Invisible Inc, IIRC 4 is max size but 2 and 3 are more common. Again could be fucked up memory but I remember Commandos being a smidge larger than that.

Rogue Legacy is nice as well, but can be grindy. Unless you're really good, then grinding is obsolete.
I bought all of Life is Strange and it's honestly such an incredible game. I've wanted it since I saw the Giant Bomb quick look the morning of the game coming out, but I hate getting into something that hasn't come to a conclusion yet. Long overdue, but I somehow avoided all spoilers and went into it almost entirely blind.
I don't know why the game has such a negative reputation around here. Sure, hella and tumblr shit come to mind, but it's honestly a fantastic game. It had one of the most unique ways of storytelling I've ever seen. The reverse time mechanic was honestly so well done.
I haven't played through Remember Me since I got it on that SEGA free games giveaway, but I'm about to. I love this developer.

Out of those? For me personally I'd have to say Shovel Knight as long as you're in the mood for platforming. Pillars was fun, but it's a very story heavy RPG so be prepared to read a lot. Darkest Dungeon is ok but very grindy which could be viewed as something positive or negative depending on your taste.

Thought the same thing until the 5th episode when it came apparent that none of the choices i made mattered besides the last one. I know I sound like a whiny bitch and that i should understand the ending had meaning behind it but I don't.
You literally either kill the person you have been saving the whole game and reverse everything you did making it pointless, you are also left unsure what actually happens. Or you let her live and keep the choices you made and you are left unsure what actually happens.
But it did give us Kate so...
I'm hoping these are all good. Any bad choices?

It was definitely more of a "journey" more than the "destination" thing. At least that's the way I see it.

I JUST finished it, and I chose to let the town get fucked because I wanted to see who all would survive through the tornado. I'm about to go back and see the ending for sacrificing Chloe, but god damn, I think that's gonna be super sad and don't really want to.
I can see your position on the whole "nothing really matters outside of the main story choices" considering all of the minor choices you go through don't really result in anything. Warren is always smitten. Alyssa (or whatever the fat chick's name is who you tell to get the fuck out of the way from dumb shit) actually dies because of the fact you always tell her to get out of the way from shit happening, Vanessa is a bitch throughout the whole game despite trying to be nice to her. The artistic fat dude doesn't need to be in the game for any reason. The nerdy science chick who is way into Warren serves no purpose except for telling you that the psychotic kid isn't in the dorms isn't home so you can go snoop in his room. The teachers outside of hipstercunt are basically pointless.
But I guess it's more about just taking the story for what it is and not breaking everything down and analyzing it for the minor things. In the end it was still a really great story to me, so I guess I'm just more willing to look over things than you.
>>343135729
Just pirate them if you're cheap. Wizardy devs won't get any money from you buying it on Steam, and the Terraria people are already super rich.
I liked Ass Creed Black Flag, would I like Rogue? Is it worth 17$?
>>343143527
i found the game extremelycomfyif that's something youre into.
aside from that i thought that the game gets a bit old after you get enough supplies to survive. after a point it just becomes about walking around searching through stuff that you have no more room left for.
its an early access game so it might get better later on. i havent seen the price any lower than this though.

Transistor is great, but you kind of have to be in the right frame of mind for it. The important thing to remember is that while it has the same pedigree as Bastion, it's not Bastion.

>>343144627
Given the way it looks I assumed it would be similar to Bastion but I'm sure it's still good.
>>343144850
It's a good bit more centered around tactics than Bastion is, and personally I like Bastion better, but I feel like the ideas behind Transistor stuck with me longer. They're both excellent games, though. Supergiant is 2 for 2 right now. Can't wait to see what they do next.
>>343144850
It plays nowhere near the same. It's like they blended turn-based games and real-time beat-em-ups together in a way that works.
I loved it personally, but it has a completly different feel then Bastion

I really enjoyed Doom. As a diehard fan of the original two games (I disown the third shitfest), it's as close as a return to form as possible with a near-AAA budget. Looks great if you have the rig for it. MP is functional but bland and SnapMap has not endeared me at all. It's mostly the campaign which took me 10 ish hours to beat at Ultra-Violence difficulty with about half to two-thirds of collectables.
Stellaris has a great early game and a "meh" mid game. I torrented it and played two rounds and felt like I had my appettite filled. Worth it for 10 bucks imho but not the 30-40 USD
XCOM 2 was more X COM. If you loved the last one, you should grab it.

>>343147028
DBZ Xenoverse?
This sale is objectively shit. Look up Steam database records for nearly any worthwhile AAA game from the last decade and a half, and nearly all of them are running at significantly worse sales than they used to.
IE:
Fallout 3 GOTY: https://steamdb.info/app/22370/
Currently only 40 fucking % off, peak sale price was 75%. ($4.99 vs $11.99 garbage)
Skyrim: https://steamdb.info/app/72850/
Currently 50% off, peak was also 75%. ($4.99 vs current $9.99)
Morrowind: https://steamdb.info/app/22320/
Another 40% off versus 75% off peak. ($4.99 vs $8.99, $9 for a fucking 15 year old game unbelievable.)
Just Cause 2: https://steamdb.info/app/8190/
75% off instead of 85% ($2.24 vs $3.74)
Assassin's Creed Director's Edition: https://steamdb.info/app/15100/
Currently 50% off, peak was 75% ($4.99 vs $9.99)
Assassin's Creed II Deluxe Edition: https://steamdb.info/app/33230/
Same as AC1
Etc etc
The list goes on and on.
Steam sales have become literal garbage. It is not just us, and it is not that we have all the good games. It's that game prices just aren't being cut as deep as they have historically been. I am fucking done with buying direct from Steam. I will be exclusively buying off 3rd party key retailer sites like cd-keys and G2A. Fuck it. Fuck the companies.

Might want to skip that one. Overall game design was poor to start with but when you factor in the (likely) nonexistent playerbase for a MP co-op title, you'll just be stuck with bots grinding for gear that's useless without competitive MP. Or at least Co-Op to show your e-dick to someone.

If you liked Xcom EU/Enemy Within, 2 is pretty much a straight up upgrade. The procedural maps make it even more replayable, and it has less focus on scripted story missions. Not even going in to things like far better class balance and base management.
If you don't feel like more of that though, not really worth grabbing. The missions are faster paced due to the time constraints (Since you're the underdog terrorism force you've gotta go fast, which means almost never overwatch crawling except in a few mission types) but it's still the same basic gist.
>>343135298 definitely, it's probably my favorite shooter of the past couple years.
>>343147848
It's less than 5$ atm. I'll give it a shot. Thanks
>>343147406
Most of those prices were at last winter's sale. Summer sales just aren't as good for some reason.
>>343147932
actually with the fourth mainline game on it's way to pc next week it's likely going to stay this low every sale, like 2 and 1 before it
>>343147880
It's your current best bet for a fun online shooter, though. Blowing $40 on Overwatch is better than buying some $3 indie garbage that has no players and you get 5 matches out of it during the Steam sale rush and that's it.
>free to play
I need a grinding RPG. Preferably first or third person but I can take top down turn based stuff if the PC controls hold up well. I want something with a storyline but doesn't bog you down in it and allows for/encourages grinding for levels and gear. Anything good?

Fair enough.

Would you guys recommend Dishonored - Definitive Edition?
What about Far Cry 2?
>>343135119
If you want to get into 4X here are a few interesting titles starting with the cheapest:
>Sword of the stars I complete collection $2.49, 75%
>Endless legend collection $13.87, 67%
>Distant worlds universe $29.99, %50
There is also stellaris but it is better to wait for all the DLC to be bundled with the base game for a lower price.
>>343148797
Stellaris is grand strategy, you're not fooling anyone /gsg/.
>>343135053
inb4 pretending to be retarded, but none of the sale prices will go lower. There are no flash sales or dailies.
>>343135119
AoW3 is amazing. Still play it more than any other 4x I've bought, including civ, the Endless games, and Stelaris's weird half-4x-half-grand-strat-all-no-content.
>>343147949
No, if you could read, you'd see I said I already bought it.
I was wondering if I had made a mistake or not because I've never played them before.
>>343148919
It has a fair amount of 4X elements in the mix though I do agree it borrows a fair amount from grand strategy games.
Sword of the stars I complete collection for 2.49 is a steal. I've clocked hundreds of hours on it. Such a fun game, particularly love their research and RTS combat.
A simple description would be total war in space. Don't bother with sword of the stars 2 it had great potential but was a tremendous flop, the devs pretty much dropped the ball on it, no updates nothing.
>>343136524
Witcher 3 is fine, don't listen to him. It's not the second coming of christ like some people make it out to be, but it's a decent game.
Rocket league is fun, but yeah you're gonna want friends to play league matches with. Cross play means console shitters. My gamebro plays with controller despite being on PC, and made an autistic fucking excel sheet showing over 200 matches that the team with more (in 3v3s) console players has a 70%+ probability of losing.

I have no problem waiting for newer games to go on sale after a while because I have plenty to play until then
>>343148919
it's a mix of 4x and grandstrat, like babby's first grandstrat.

Enjoying TA a lot so far. Going to play Sunless Sea when I go to bed. I'm an insomniac so I set my laptop up so I can play comfortably from bed. That way I can force myself to go to bed because I need to, and then I can unwind on that for a while. Going to do that soon.

Bought it a few days ago. Did everything the game has to offer in 24 hours of play time. Not bad for $12. I didn't 100% it but the rest of the "content" in the game is nothing new to me. Not pictured is the Guilty Gear Xrd bundle and D4.
I'm thinking of getting Rise of Nations, but I'm kinda turned off by the territory system. I really enjoyed Empire Earth as a kid, because you span all of history and into 3 different future epochs. I see that RoN has a decent chronological scope as well. Should I just bite the bullet and get it? I'm kinda tired of playing the same medieval setting.
>>343147406
Daily deals are no longer a thing either, so it's not looking too good.
>>343152260
Don't know how it plays, but apparently ghostbusters game is basically the story 3 should have had, so if you're a fan it might be worth it for that. EYE is a niche title, it's unintuitive at first, unpolished, relies on enemy horde spam a bit too much, and is absolutely bizarre, but goddamn do I love it. The guns feel excellent, the powers are cool, the levels are fucking huge and open, cyberpunk atmosphere is top notch, and its old unpolished source wonkiness has a certain charm to it. Not to mention the crazy co-op; v hosts them from time to time and you can get 20+ people crammed into one game.
>>343137030
I bought this game called Hero Siege that's really really cheap and offers a lot of content (repetitive, sure, but with small variations) which you might include.
Also, 100% OJ. It's not as good as it's iconic, but if you have receattear or terraria, you should include that one.

>>343153515
Dragon's Dogma, Dark Souls 3, The Forest, Terraria, Fallout: New Vegas, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Miasmata, Elite: Dangerous, Oblivion.
>>343153572
Sure.
It doesn't have nearly as much story as the ones before, and it's very focused on the gameplay.
Basically it's PMC Simulator 2016.
You go around fultoning soldiers to make them join your army, you have to develop your own weapons, outfits and such, and you deploy in two maps, Africa and Afghanistan, and you operate around there, either in missions, or in freeroam doing secondary missions.
Pretty fun.
>>343153572

>>343134853
Is the Witcher 3 DLC worthwhile? I'm kinda debating between TW3 with the Expansion Pass or Doom 3.
I haven't played TW2 even though I have it -- I couldn't get into some of the controls but it seems like TW3 is improved in terms of combat.
should I buy Bully or Hitman Blood Money?
>>343153873
it's basically Peace Walker AAA edition
>>343153873
It's not, it's very different.
It's still stealth focused, but the gameplay is much better.
Shooting isn't clunky as fuck now, and it handles more like a third person shooter.
Controls are some of the best i've ever experienced, too.
Basically is a more gameplay focused MGS, and it revolves around building your own PMC.
If you are interested in the story, you should read again MGS3's plot, and Peace Walker's.
It's a direct sequel to Peace Walker, so you might find yourself lost.
>>343153873
If you don't care much about the story is GOAT.
For $20 it's definatly worth it, got 500 hours in it.
>>343153807
it's confusing at first, but you don't really need to get it all down at once, and overtime it'll just kind of click. Playing is pretty fun, it's a mission based shooter with open levels (not open world faggotry, just big ol levels) fucking great guns (i.e. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtJh_B4jDrY or the bearkiller) rpg stuff that turns you into a cyber commando at high levels, and psychic powers, but again, niche, should probably look up some gameplay or try the demo if you're not sure
>>343153931
The DLC is fantastic. You'll enjoy W3 more if you play the first two, but it's a great standalone game. Don't buy Doom 3.
>>343153931
The expansions are far better than the base game. Story is awesome for both expacs, and theres a few new gameplay mechanics.
>>343153931
Yeah, TW3 control wise it's the best.

Also, Ground Zeroes, at least pirate it, it's pretty much a MGSV demo, but it's the link between Peace Walker and MGSV.

SS1 is very good as well. Played the Enhanced edition when it came out and had no problems with it, but it is an old game and requires different mind set than contemporary entertainment, so beware.

for the record the guy's opinions on a few of the guns are wrong, the black crow is a sexy beast and the 222 is a good backup if you're running all close range weapons since it has a scope and hits decently. And the hs10 becomes an unholy killing machine once you get the recoil canceling ability
Does Crypt of the NecroDancer have any substance outside of minor strategy and rhythm gameplay? I hear good stuff and it's 75% off but I'm not sure.

I haven't played video games for a bit over a year to devote my time to work and study. I felt like something was missing and while I was reading books and watching shows, nothing is quite as satisfying as video games. I just put together a pretty good PC a few weeks ago (my first gaming PC ever) and now there is a steam sale. Figured its a good time to grab some of the most popular titles that I missed out on. Unfortunately searching on steam isn't as advanced as I would like it to be. Am I missing anything crucial here? Any recommendations? Note: I am partial to games that have a strong story. But I also want to see some pretty graphics. Playing Witcher 3 at the moment.
>>343155971
No and probably or just pirate it, fuck EA for not putting the DLC on Steam.
>>343156069
Also, i've played Mass Effect and Skyrim before on console. Just getting them now while they're a bit cheaper so I can replay them a little while down the road.
>>343156069
Get the definitive edition of Dishonored, the DLCs are well worth it.
>>343156267
I was definitely considering it. Just not trying to spend too much at one time. I will probably follow your advice though. There's just so many fucking games I haven't played.
>>343156146
actually I've always pirated mass effect games as they released, but I felt like buying the first two since they're so tedious to install, I'd rather just be able to click once and be done with it
So Shadowrun Hong Kong kinda looks like Fallout 1/2, which I loved. Is it? Should I get it?
>>343155962
no, its very barebones
My losses so far.
>>343155962
it's really fun for like a day
>>343156553
>Should I get it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb9nzTH5SJ4
Watch this and decide.
I bought a Shantae and Mighty Gunvolt
>>343155971
No, DLC is in origin, and pirate it.
There's no ME3 GOTY edition, the Trilogy pack doesn't include the DLCs either, so you have to buy each ME3 DLC on it's own at release price.
>>343155936
Someone?
>>343154321
Depends how much you can stand padded gameplay. I mean its got a decent combat system and some fun puzzles in addition to all the RPG looting but good god is it padded. Youre constantly looking for three of something and then you need three more of another thing and then to get one more of those three you need to do three more things its madness.
So at the moment I have $10 credit and have narrowed it down to:
Valkyria Chronicles
Terraria
Shadowrun Dragonfall
Neptunia Rebirth 1
Are any of these bad or should I just try to get all 4?
Is rage worth a go?
>>343156951
>Valkyria Chronicles
I was going to as well but someone told me not to because the port was locked at 30 FPS. Someone also said there was an unofficial patch for that or something but I can't really give confirmation on either of those statements so you might want to look into it for yourself.
>>343156553
Its nothing at all like the fallout games.
Its more like new xcom only you have one team full of personality and the hub characters are much more talkative.
Oh and you get to explore and interact with the enviroment outside of combat as well.
Personally i think its fantastic and at 7 bucks its a steal.
>>343153241
the borders thing is probably my favorite feature of it
it's really good bro, except that there's no story mode campaign sort of thing.. just this risk-style conquer the world thing, which is decent
>>343156951
Terraria is a great timesink.
>>343157038
What about the DLC? Is it something you'd have to get for the full experience?
How many games can I refund before Gaben gets suspicious
How's Torchlight II?
>>343141956
Does /v/ really hate this game?
I keep seeing threads popping up praising it.
>>343154592
I'm about to play it after I finish these chicken nuggets
>>343156069
Have you played FEAR 1? Really good gunplay.
And just some other recommendations of the top of my head, check out Alien Isolation, Wolfenstein TNO, Transformers War/Fall of Cybertron, Mirrors Edge and Styx Master of Shadows. None of them are perfect but they're all pretty fun.
How's Rogue Legacy? Been on my wishlist for a while.
>>343157197
What dlc? The deluxe upgrade? Nah all that gets you is the soundtrack, which while the best in the series isnt something id actually buy but thats just me. Extended edition already gets you the post story campaign.
If you mean returns and dragonfall, dragonfall is considered the best in the series but id say its even with hongkong. Dont bother with returns.
Theres also an excellent modded campaign for both dragonfall and hongkong which will extend the interest at least another 7 hours each.
why are tf2 keys dropping in price?
>>343157030
Valkyria chronicles runs at 60fps
>>343157416
Alright, thanks for the recommendations.
so, what would you recommend:
>Bad Company 2 (hopefully people still play it, I really want to try this game out)
>Witcher 2
>Arkham Asylum
>Borderlands 2
I've never played any of these games, and anything bellow the 7 dollar line is fine
>>343157450
Alright cool. Thanks for your input. Based on what I've seen so far, I think I'll be getting it. Big help, anon.
Im looking for a fairly cheap management game. I have cities-skylines on my wishlist rn. anything else I should look at?
Just got and played xcom enemy unknown. Im having lots of fun, any other games you guys can recommend me? Although i dont like the civ or total war series, Age of empires looks fun? What get?
>>343137030
Hidden in plain sight is a fun as hell local multiplayer game
>>343134853
Got a lot of low specs games because I have a really shitty computer.
Spent like 15 dollars and got like 7 great games. Should have joined Steam years ago, even with my shitty PC.
>>343150120
if you like Earthbound, you will love it
>>343157418
I didn't like it. The gimmicky traits that fuck up your vision are horrible.
>>343157618
if i may make a few suggestions for your playthrough
A rip and tear cyber troll is an amazingly fun and amazingly powerful build. Just remember that razors > spurs
Dont kill the ghoul, gaichu is both a powerful party member and one of the best characters on your team
The games similar to fallout in that you can talk your way out of an awful lot of shit, dont skimp on charisma. It also makes the game intensely amusing if you bring gaichu along.
Youre going to be reading a fucking lot in the hub at the start, everyones gonna have loads of shit to say. If you ever feel overwhelmed you only -really- need to talk to Is0bel, the mage shop owner and duncan for reasons i cant say because spoilers.
>bught dragon age origin
>reach orzammar
>the game keeps crashing on me
unacceptable. the games should have been fixed a long time ago. why do they keep selling broken games?
>>343157614
please help
>>343156553
Yes, Shadowrun Returns series is really good. It's not freeroam like fallout, instead you have a number of story missions you can go through in almost any order, while returning to a hub after each one to shop and chat with NPCs. There's a good mix of combat encounters and exploration/puzzles. Every player starts with an "Etiquette" like gang, academic, etc, which allows for unique conversation and interaction options. You can also unlock interactions through skills. You can use magic to read fingerprints off a keypad, rigging can send a drone through vents to sabotage something, medical can let you make poisons, etc.
It also has really nice graphics.
>>343157614
Arkham Asylum is a 10/10 game. Borderlands 2 is the Anthony Burch (literally) of video games.
>>343157023
It's basically Borderlands with a shit story and more driving. Personally I find that really boring but I'm sure you can make your own decisions.
>>343157023
yea
So far.only have MGS Revengance and Dishonores, would like a.good non-PC port for under $5

if you have a steam wallet you can prolly make up for the loss with profit with all the cards
>>343139961

I actually think Axiom Verge is kind of overrated. Impressive for a one man project, but still left me underwhelmed.
Environmental Station Alpha is more bang for your buck, even though it's not perfect either.

Far Cry 3 is worth it, I reckon, although it has that garbage Uplay bullshit you have to go through

They are practically the same game, just get Farcry 3 because it's cheaper.
>>343159597
Do I need the DLCs to enjoy the game though? The complete package is almost 7 dollars.
So I've decided to sell all my cards during this sale for maximum profit and it turns out they won't appear on the market for 2 weeks because of some bullshit security measure. Do I really have to install steam botnet app on my phone to sell shit on the market without waiting?
>>343159518
What inventory items do you have?
I want to think about getting into RTSes. Is Civ 5 worth buying?
Also, if I liked Borderlands 1, is Borderlands 2 good enough to justify buying, or should I just go replay 1?
>>343160149
Just install it. You'll get extra two factor security at the very least
>>343159990

I'm so tired of people who take gaming politics too seriously. I remember when people would buy games because they wanted to play those games.
You have no excuse to not get Out There Somewhere.
It's a really polished (but short, around two hours) game for 50 cents. Hell, you'll gain more money if you resell the cards.

Still, I wish they made a second one.
>>343134853
Said it in a previous thread but all I bought was the Jackbox Party Pack 2 for social fun. $8.80 for more interactive and creative Cards Against Humanity is a good deal.
Still thinking about picking up Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, I played the vanilla version on X360 a while back and loved it but the thought of replaying the original game only to unlock some really hard extra locations isn't that appealing any more.
Though you get more teleporting stones apparently, which would cut down on the eventually tedious travelling... Might pick it up when I get paid
>>343157692
AoE2 is rather simple and fun. Can't go wrong with the bundle. AoE3 is also nice.
