There are some things I like about Dark Souls I like more than Bloodborne though. I like how you can reset everything by using bonfires, instead of having to travel to the dream and back. Good for farming blood vials.

Here's what the game needs to be perfect, in regards to the chalice dungeons:
1. Lost and Uncanny weapons need a reskin. Delving for them would be much more fun if they had a series of shifting runes on them, or were rusty/otherwise different colored.
2. Gems needed to be balanced differently. The maximum damage up gems should cap out at 10%, and all other gem effects needed to be stronger. That way, instead of the optimal build always being to slot for max damage up, there'd be an incentive to spec for stamina cost reduction or poison.
3. Each boss should have dropped an item like Vicar Amelia that results in a guaranteed blood gem. The difference should also be that they offer a unique effect, like a Micolash gem offering bonus damage with hunter tools while you have the weapon equipped, or Darkbeast Paarl adding a tonitrus-esque buff (bolt damage and faster weapon degradation) upon tricking a weapon. This also makes those chalice bosses more worthwhile to search for, as now they also offer unique loot that lets you really customize your weapon, not just build for max damage.
4. Add more chalice dungeon assets in each patch, and rework hintertomb to not just be poison pthumeru.

It kinda pissed me off how when you look down at the church where you fight BSB from Central Yharnam, then go down there and look back up to Central Yharnam, the wall for the church doesn't even line up its not even in the same place.
Also in the church where you fight Amelia, you can look up at the window where you later break after fight Celestial Emissary, but the walkway isn't even there, just the window.

Me and a friend just started an all arcane build last week. It's really not as bad as you might think. Once you kill BloodStarved Cunt, you can go get the Tonitrus and the Fire Gem. We're already at Byrgenwerth/Martyr Logarius with a +7 Tonitrus, A flame-specced +6 Saw Spear, Hunters Roar, Old Hunter Bone and Auger of Ebrietas. Typically, we just use Auger and something like Bone Marrow Ash plus +5 Flamesprayer in the left hand rather then a firearm. It's been a lot of fun so far.
A lot of bosses become a complete joke with Shock damage, too bad the Tonitrius has shit durability.
Also, we chose to do an Arcane build specifically because we had heard it was shitty and not worth it, but so far it's been easy then my Skill build playthrough. Maybe I just got good.

Dark Souls 2 is still good. Missing a lot of Miyazaki's polish and design flourish but that's somewhat remedied by SotFS and the DLCs, and it also has an incredible amount of build and weapon variety.
Dark Souls 3 is also pretty good. I'll admit I got bored of it faster than all the other Souls games though. Maybe I'm burned out on the series. I think Weapon Arts did a lot to improve build viability--before there were too many weapons with gimmicky R2s that just took up space on the moveset. I'll probably pick it back up again once the DLCs come out.
BB is alright but weapon variety is ironically pretty dull. I mean, I know the point of the trick weapons is that each one is supposed to be totally unique, but it doesn't really work out that way. New weapons are few and far between, and the linearity of the game means that basically every New Game goes exactly the same for the first half, as you can hardly even start getting build variation going until then.
Basically I feel like Bloodborne and DS3 have the same problem: they do one or two things very well, but not much else. I don't really feel any incentive to roll a new character and try out new builds or playstyles anymore. Whereas with DS2 every weekend I could start from scratch with a whole new character and beat the game before Monday. I've probably put more hours into DS2 than the entire rest of the series combined, and I have played these games to a preposterous degree.

If having such superior PvE means the cost of abysmal PvP, I'll take it almost any day, even though it sucks I can't show off my cool guy build. The problem with it's PvP is that it has the Demon's Souls problem of PvP just basically being a waste of resources when it comes down to it, because your heals don't refill every time you rest, it's shit you have to take the time to go get more of. And Bloodborne has that problem twice as bad because now you not only have to get more heals but now you have to get refills of bullets as well. So in the end both the player AND the invader have to go out of their way to get more resources after PvP unlike other souls games, so it just ends up feeling like a pain to both parties.
