Why can't they just cast spells and summon demons every now and again? I main a druid and with legion changes you are pretty much pushed into staying one spec just like all the other classes for the foreseeable future until catchup mechanics get added.
The "hybrid" changes are just so you can have skills from one other form available but the only ones that will see any realistic use are a guardian/feral/balance taking resto as their hybrid or a resto taking balance as their hybrid so they can have soloing capabilities in pve.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of the cata changes were good. Azshara isn't unbearable dogshit anymore. The stories are complete and do something (unless we're talking about Arathi or Silithus).
Of course theres still shit changes like thousand needles as well.
I'm more talking about how the zones feel far more linear. Less encouragement to explore. The reduced time in the zone takes away from the size of things.
I'm not opposed to long time players getting short cuts, hell even someone with a single max level toon.
But it's what this does to the new players that is killing the game. No one understands the current game because there is so much backstory and content that they have to "rush through" to get to it. And if you skip it, it makes no sense. People shouldn't treat the leveling experience as a chore. I really enjoyed it the first time around.

It's generally a safe bet that Hunters, Warriors, Druids, and Mages will perform well.
Shamans will most likely get the shaft early on - as is tradition - but will creep back up toward the top as the expansion nears its end.

I though Mists of Pandaria was good. I started in BC and loved it. I probably had the most fun in wrath, but I was critical of a lot of it. Cata killed my guild and the interest in the game. When they announced Pandaria after I quit, I wasn't hostile like so many people, I was just completely indifferent.
I tried it around 5.1 for around a month or two and found it completely forgettable. I came back just before 5.4 and slowly fell for it. Pandaria itself is meh as fuck and I'm indifferent to pandaren. But ToT and even SoO were bretty gudin lfrat least compared to the equivalent now. There was lots of solo content like brawlers guild, proving grounds, half hill market, rep dailies, quest lines on ToT and for SoO - while connected to a rep they were basically just quest lines.
Also, getting valor each weak to use on reforging and item upgrades felt like something to do rather than just smashing my face against lfr raids.
It wasn't BC or even wrath, but it was alright.

MoP was great. ToT was Ulduar-tier and SoO had some damn good raid battles, particularly Siegecrafter.
I also loves the intitial feel of the place, it felt more like an adventure than any other expansion before it. I also had a huge bias towards how Blizzard handled rare mobs in MoP, making them elite enemies who required at least a token amount of intelligence to defeat rather than just a special-colored reward enemy.

To be honest, as someone who played all of wrath I never got the hype for ulduar. Admittedly we never got past the clappy hand man, but the first half got old pretty quick. Seige Leviathan got really fucking old. I enjoyed the bosses in ToC despite the environment which seems to be the only criticism I ever hear.
ToT was fucking magnificent. And as a resto shammy, siegecrafter is one of my favourite fights. I liked what you mentioned because it requires intellect, but I hated how starting in cata every mob while leveling started to feel like a chore. In your leveling gear everyone felt like they had triple your health.
The exception I recall was taking my DK to jade forest and one shotting with obliterate.
I never really loved the initial feel of Pandaria. The colours are so washed out and the way they told the story never worked for me.

Agreed. The lead-up was a mess that was only tolerated because vehicles were still a relatively new concept.
I think with Ulduar it's just how amazingly well the bosses were designed, with each of them having an organic scaling difficulty system that didn't involve simply flipping a switch in the UI. You had to do things IN the fight to unlock harder phases and better loot. It was simply better interactivity.
Also the way the final bosses were set up, 4-lights Yogg being the 'end boss', Algalon being the secret boss who came down and slapped your shit and zero-lights Yogg establishing himself as the de-facto big nigga of the raid.

As someone who has always mained a tauren, the world never felt as big to me as it did to others. I remember as a shaman, being so excited to get ghost wolf. I got it and felt like a puppy, not a wolf. Then one day I made a gnome character and stood next to someone in ghost wolf form. I realised they're actually pretty big.

I'm 99% the endgame of WoW is the Forsaken being restored by the light. We know it's possible, and with Sylvanas being so evil, it's possible she could be overthrown as an act of "redemption". At least the rape was risky, now people have so many escape abilities + the gear discrepancy is so high that it's easy for people to only do wpvp when their chance of overwhelming victory or at least complete escape is 100%. I always thought the world should just phase at max level, maybe with a special PVP flag, and EVERY zone except the cities be open for conquest and random events/bonuses so things don't get stale.
Maybe if the faction leader is killed, their forces have a debuff for an hour or something. Random objectives like assault/escort wagon train or something.
My point is you should be able to log in, find a fight, and then help crash the server because you're all pouring into a zone to fight and conquer.
