Was just about to say this it varies. 2 examples I can think of where the monsters are pretty much real is during a shadow game like with Marik at battle city. I believe the same goes when the seal of the orichalchos is used. The egyptian god cards as well are pretty much real they summoned themselves from the cards when Pegasus created them which was why he sealed them away.

Shit is scary. I played against it once on devpro so far.
I saw Treatoad for the first time, so I took a moment to glance over its effect and saw the part about it negating anything once per turn, so I played Dark Hole to force the negation and was really surprised when I then saw my Dark Hole being set on their side of the field.
Then I just OTK'd them. Decks like that are still really weak because they don't really have a win condition. Cyber Dragon decks are better because they have CDI and have multiple ways of dealing over 8000 damage in one turn, frogs don't.

There's nothing wrong with YGO being faster. Some argue how much faster it should be, but no one with a brain wants it to be like the beginning. Without an inherent resource system the game was slow as fuck because of the one summon limit.
