For first playthrough you should really just go barbarian since it's the most straightforward
You'll be able to get a feel for the game easier and really appreciate it more, save some of the more op classes like necro for other playthroughs

Summon necro without teleport is literal hell. Thankfully he's not that gear dependent(you can win the game in your underwear) so you can just use the ring with teleport charges if you can't afford Enigma (playing offline alone).

Why bother with mages? Amp Damage will break most any Physical Immune status, allowing your standard skeletons, revives, mercs, and Corpse Explosion to clear enemies.Use /players 8 to hit 24 prior to Duriel and get Decrepify to avoid a headache.

The Druid is by far the worst class in the game, followed by Necro.
They are the only two classes that are useless since all the other classes can do what they do but better.

With the right gear and runes PvE Pally shits on everything. Sorc is about a million times easier to set up though.

I'm going through the game with a friend now as an Assassin. As a lightning trapper it's pretty rough going through Hell and it feels like everything is immune.
