I remember loving an rpg maker game when I was younger. It was called Legend of something? It might have been LoA. I'm kind of just guessing. Might try to find it in google.

I found it. It was called Legion Saga. I don't know if it's worth playing now but I remember thinking it was the greatest game ever.

Pretty much the only interesting ones are the ones with minimal or no combat.

Bumping for interest. A few years ago I watched Tales of a Drunken Paladin on Ema's stream, it was a pretty fun time. Might be worth looking up if I'm remembering it right

Mogeko castle was alright. shame Deep Sea Prisoner cant really make decent combat in his games.
I thought the Crooked Man was good freeware example.

Squegs World and Squegs World 2 and the spinoff series Castle of Nepto 1, 2 and 3 are phenomenal.
They're all in Japanese though but there's translation patches online.
