Is there any indication of when the dev is going to stop adding content to this?
I bought it ages ago, played a bit and liked it, figured I'd leave it off until it was done. With the game blowing up like it has recently I doubt that's coming too soon, should I just play it now?

Hey guys, I have 3 multipurpose rooms stacked on each other.

I was building an alien containment on the third one and as I was going upstairs to get more mats, I decided to delete the ladder and now I can't place it again.

Is there a way to noclip to make my way to the 3rd room again to finish the alien containment thing so I can place the ladder?
>>
>>343071017
you can place ladders on the sides besides the aquarium
its not just confined to the centre of the room

>>
>>343071017
>>343071302

What is going on is that I decided to attach a room to another room vertically. I had ladders and everything was working perfectly.

Now I decided to add an alien containment to the room and on my way back up to get mats to finish it I decided to delete the ladder to place it in another spot.

Now since there is "ongoing construction" it won't let me place the ladder again it just shows it red.

I also can't place a hatch in the room so I'm completely locked out. I can't even delete it with q.

Someone PLEASE tell me there's no clip in this game.

Nothing stopping you from doing that but searching for the pieces could be time consuming.

You could start off by making the Seaglide
Go find the pieces of the Seamoth
Make a vehicle bay
Make the Seamoth
Go find the Cyclops parts
Make the Cyclops
Fill the Cyclops with stuff for building a base
Go find somewhere to start building.

With terrain currently the game has severe pop-in.
They're removing terrain digging so it's all mostly/completely static. Apparently that should fix the terrain load issues.

I dont really know how everyone else plays but ive taken to building air stations along the ocean floor the deeper i get. Its only like 6 titanium and a handful of quartz which is fucking everywhere. Also god damn batteries drain fast. Getting deeper is becoming a pain with just the seaglide. Are there more seamoth parts than you need or do you need to find the exact locations of all 6 parts or whatever

The seamoth parts are typically in more than one biome with plenty of spares and you only need like, four or five pieces scanned.

As someone who has only seen other people play this... how dangerous are enemies to your base?

Creatures won't attack your base atm, though they can unintentionally damage them (like gasopod gas, and floaters). I'm pretty sure they're planning on adding creatures attacking your base, as well as base defenses.

Deep Sea threads have been a sub genre of /v/ culture for ages, and Sub Nautica is the first game to really tap into the stuff anons discussed in those threads.

Due to the sale and word of mouth, more anons are jumping in and having fun with it, causing the same thing that made games like Undertale have a billion threads up at any time, until the hype dies down and the next flavor of the month takes over.

All it takes is well-made games to have people openly talk about them on /v/. Weird concept, I know.

Catch a bunch of fish and use salt to preserve them. Then you can carry enough food with you no problem. Then, once you've got enough metal and quartz to build a base, immediately build an "Alien Containment" tank and throw a bunch of captured fish into it. They'll breed on their own and you'll have a steady food supply. Especially if you use Reginalds because they're worth 43 food points.

It's really easy to become self-sufficient with food, and even water isn't so bad because salt and coral are fairly abundant. Then once you discover the island and can start growing melons and potatoes you never need to worry about it again.

Ride around in your Seamoth. The Aurora wreck usually has one, and there's another near this mountainy island (I'm not sure of the direction, but if you go up to the Aurora and then go in the direction the front of it is pointing, you'll find it). The fuckers love the Seamoth.

>>343087597
I don't think so. Most fish aren't terrible destructive, and I don't know anybody brave/dumb enough to build a base near a Reaper.

Be careful with your submarines though. I accidentally rammed my Moonpool with my Cyclops once because I didn't check my cameras. The entire base was flooded to shit when I got back.

>>343087445
They only drop them after picking up metal or trying to bite your Seamoth. It's retarded and doesn't happen nearly often enough.

I set up a miniature farming operation by growing a couple of Stalkers from babies in my tank and releasing them near my base. The ones you grow are fairly tame (I've only been attacked once, and I think it was because I swam right into its face), and will horde metal in the area. If you drop a couple of pieces of metal, then go steal them from their hordes and drop them farther away again, they've eventually drop teeth as they repeatedly go back for those pieces.
>>
>>343088158
The current generator sounds cool in paper but really it's just not that great. I don't think anyone actually uses it.

The air bladder on the other hand is useful as fuck in the early game. It allowed me to go to great depths because I new I could surface very fast by using it. That was of course before I had the seamoth and the cyclops.

I would say the air bladder is a fucking must at the early stages of the game.

>any non lethal defenses the game already has.

The nonlethal defenses are power hogs (I know we have battery chargers now, but that doesn't make the propulsion cannon any less of a power hog) and are stupidly ineffective compared to a simple fire arm or even a spear gun.

>>343089897
I'm not saying you need to completely fuck the balance. It's just that it's a fucking survival game, and you've got Star Trek-esque material fabricators. Having nothing but a knife is ridiculous, and being able to make shit like a Statis Rifle and a Gravity Gun, but not even being able to make a simple harpoon gun is insane. It's even dumber than the materials required to craft a compass, one of the most essential survival tools ever, being miles away from the starting area.

In the end, it's putting "muh feels" ahead of utility, and utility is ultra important in a game based around survival and crafting. In the end, >>343090009 is right. The game turns out to be subtly pro-gun in that your character is basically defenseless against anything stronger than a Stalker (and even then knife fighting a giant barracuda? Seriously?) until you can craft the stasis or propulsion guns. Which are still guns, and can still used to murder the predators, just in a roundabout way.

naw.

now spears, or sharp spikes on the outside of your seamoth (which prevents docking) would be perfect.

a spikey seamoth would prevent the reaper from grabbing you more than a small amount of time, do like 20 dmg, and proceed to fuck off after that. or just ram into the sand sharks and kill them with a mad max style sub.

guns would put the game into ez modo

give me a good spear, thats more fun.

Really? As I remember, charge fins with seaglide slowed battery drain to a non-insane level. Without the charge fins the battery runs down retardedly fast.

>The game doesn't need gun to be fun

I didn't say that it did. I said that it would make sense in the context of a survival game to have some kind of ranged weapon other than the propulsion gun and the stasis rifle. Especially for that part of the game before you unlock either of the "science guns". Think about it: Before you unlock the propulsion gun and upgrade to a repulsor, you are literally defenseless against Sandsharks, Crashes, Bleeders, Bonesharks, Tiger Plants, Cave Crawlers, and anything else I'm forgetting.

Does that make any fucking sense in a game where you've got ultrafuturistic fabrication technology, complete with an AI, that's all supposedly geared to help you survive?

They'll slow down the power usage, but once the battery's dead it can't recharge it since you need to hold an item to charge it and the seaglide is always in use when held.

Lady are you on your period?

>>343093753
The reasoning for it is the problem. I'm pretty sure most of the people making complaints about no guns would be fine if it were because of the setting and the aspect of the game.

However, he said it's because of a very politically hot topic. That's the issue.

That the sea treaders. Friendly giants that poop resources. Found deep under the floating isle.

I fixed my excape pod so it won't drift but it fels like the 10 floaty lockers I keep under it keep floating away anyway. I'm worried that the radiation will seep over to my "base" and I'll get killed because I can't seem to find silver ore for the radiation suit. Once I get that I'll seaglide over to the Aurora and fix the leak.

The wiki says that the cell charger is actually more efficient than it should be.

You know what the Cyclops really needs though, is the ability to build a reactor in it.

He could have just said that his vision for the game wouldn't have many ways to protect yourself for like tension reason or w/e and no one would have cared.

Him coming out saying that the game won't have weapons because some dumb kids died is cuckoldry to the highest level.

I don't give a shit if your little faggot kid doesn't know how to take a bullet, that shouldn't effect my gaming experiences.

I don't get it. Isn't part of this game the ambiance horror? Like that looming fear that somthing is watching you or the possibility of a aggressive fauna attacking you while you have your back turned? Isn't that horror/scary?

Am I in the wrong here?

If you can find salt, combine them with a coral sample (knife the bits around the giant coral tubes) then you make bleach which then makes a nice big drink.

Not telling you to drink the bleach, of course. it goes into purified water.

Going down in the darkness is the scariest thing ever for me. The reapers around the aurora are fine for example, because it's brighter there.
