My dream game would be a ture Mech simulator like Flight Simulator where the cockpit is interactable. It makes so much sense and adds so much room for creativity for the devs and gameplay.
Imagine having all these different chassis with different design philosophies. Old sturdy mechs with hand valves and MSDOS like HUD and screens hastily fitted to compete, and newer fancier mechs with holographic shit around you. Newer mechs cost more though.
Not only the playstyle comes into play, but also learning the position of the buttons and the capabilities of each chassis.
And i'm not getting into enviromental stuff like extreme conditions and how it affects you, the pilot, or VR integration and such. I just want a Mechwarrior with interactable cockpit and one that it actually reflects the year said mech was supposedly designed and produced.
It would combine micro management inside the mech with the strategy of squad based tactics, and fuse it together with gameplay AND fantasy lore. Also monetize pretty well.
But fuck imagination no one can come up with something like it even if there's money to be done here.

EDF 4.1 has some fun mechs, even though it isnt strictly a mech game. Theres a suit you can call in that is bigger than skyscrapers and you use it to fight knock-off Godzilla or just dick around, as well as a few bipedal ones. One of the classes (fencer) feels like if it was bigger it would just be a mech too, its an infantry class that moves like a tank and has go-fast boosters to get around.
What I really want is another Armored Core game, hopefully theyre done with Souls games, like they said they were.

Speak on how you dislike the shortcuts CGI takes, like the fact that Zoids CC and NC both always had battles take place in Deserts because they weren't confident they could animate backgrounds that wouldn't clash too hard with the CGI. That you dislike how floaty and lacking in weight CGI feels some time(even though that's a problem in regular animation too at times) That sometimes seeing a frame clip is really distracting.

I enjoyed it as a whole, but the animation really is fucking awful. People say Zeta has good animation but the robots still mostly looked like vaguely colored blobs for the most part. I'm convinced people that say that only remember the second OP. SDF Macross has more standout moments as far as I remember.

We have them now, it's called a tank.
The beauty of mecha is making something that's completely impractical and retarded look like hardcore military hardware. 08th MS team, while being a really stupid show that went through development hell, had designs that captured this perfectly. Much better than most western mech designs.
There are good western mech designs, they're just few and far between because we're afraid to let anything look cool. I even like Titanfall's designs. However, it's still shit compared to the designs in 08th.
Also, the frilly, ultra fast MS designs are for space, where there's no resistance of any kind. Tomino did his physics homework on that one and actually has valid sci-fi ideas behind his ideas of MS in space. 08th MS team was all about ground action, and the designs reflect that.
