Reminder that Conker's Bad Fur Day is a technological triumph. Naughty Dog wish they could make games this awesome.
Well unlike modern ND this game's gameplay evolved with its story.
This is what a REAL technical marvel looks like.
>Fully voice acted
>Incredibly gorgeous visuals
>Actually fun, varied, and creative gameplay
>A genuinely tragic ending, a fitting end to Rare's legacy
Naughty Dog wishes they could make something as memorable as that.
>Conkers eyes are a seperate part of his head that can move independently
Why was so much technology wasted on game about a drunken Squirrel?
Everyone of Naughty Dog's games since Playstation have had critical and commercial success, CBFD is a cult hit that will pretty much will only be remembered as the “edgy” Rare game that Nintendo didn't want to acknowledge it's existence. I think I'd know which position I'd rather be inThis is coming from someone who thinks CBFD is one of my favorite games ever

In fairness, The Last of Us has some interesting story/gameplay ideas in a vague, "man I wish I was playing Resident Evil 6 or Resident Evil: Revelations 2 instead" kinda way.

This isn't entirely true. The ucode used in Conker is fairly close to one of the vanilla ones, but the biggest difference is dynamic lighting was rewritten. There a number of N64 games with unusual lighting behavior in their ucodes. Turok 2/3 are doing something special hence they have missing lighting in HLE, and Majora's Mask has a custom lighting system in its ucode that isn't documented so the HLE solutions tend to be a bit dicey.

True.

It's got dual reputation as one of the graphically best N64 games and also one of the graphically best Xbox games. It is somewhat niche, but what the masses think doesn't matter in the end. The masses wouldn't know good technology and graphical fidelity if it bit them on the ass.

If Conker Live and Reloaded was an Xbox 360 game, it'd be one of the best looking 360 games.
It's fucking ludicrous how good it looks.
