If the loot crates were truly random I'd give more of a shit, but it's been confirmed that skins/etc. are lotted based on an algorithm; if you obtained a legendary at level 35 there is no RNG element, you always would have obtained a legendary at 35.
I'm lv32 and i have one gold skin for a character I never play. That's 20+ hours extra I have getting jack-shit of value.

Basically your overwatch account has a seed, kind of like in Minecraft.
The items you unbox from crates are predetermined via an algorithm based on that seed.
eg. If you were to obtain a legendary skin from a crate at a given level, only to be hit with a server rollback, when you unbox that same crate upon leveling up again you would get exactly the same skin.

It came out on the same day as MGSV, which essentially killed it. Also had some tropes that plague open world games these days (I actually like getting lost in sandboxes--part of why I'm looking forward to FFXV--but they're certainly not popular here). I actually laughed when I read that one reviewer thought the game was anti-fun because driving off cliffs hurt your car (no fucking way!) and driving into the unknown would actually lower your gas. Meanwhile I was only okay with there being so much gas in the world because the map happened to be near Gastown.
I'm personally having a shitload of fun with it. I like how it expands on the mythos presented in Fury Road. Also digging the non-regenerating health bar (though it maxing out whenever you load a checkpoint kills the point) and very limited ammo cap.
My biggest problem is that several of the strongholds you conquer have the "blow up the transfer tanks" goal, which is basically an easter egg hunt that gets old quickly. So far that's my only gripe with it.

I remember spending 10 hours in front mission 3 for the ePSXe emulator, but I only ever used save states because I didn't want to wait the few seconds for standard saves to card. I spent every mission making as many enemy mechs surrendering as I could so I could get their parts. After loading the game up as usual one day, I pressed f1 for a quick save instead of f3 for the quickload, so I over-wrote my only save.
