Just finished Danganronpa 2, full spoilers ahead. Let's talk about the series.Is it just me or was the ending a total copout? It seems like Hajime was able to Graduate without losing his memories, and all the Remnants remained in their comas and didn't get uploaded with Junko. How did this happen?

The gameplay I. The ending works so well though. When everything you say is just blowing junky away. Firing HOPE bullets at her until she can be destroyed is so fucking tight. Hope just crushed the argument for despair and you physically play it out.
It's the closest we will get to going Super Sayain in a lawyer/murder mystery game and I love it.

I can take her being the mastermind again, but from what i hear she is also the villain in everything else Danganronpa that came out so far.
She isn't that great a villain that she has to be reused 4+ times. Danganronpas Junko obsession is holding the series back.
I'd maybe have prefered Nagito as villain with his insanity making him believe he turned into Junko because he implanted her arm, makes more sense than Junko knowing how to create an Alter Ego

Plus I liked Junko in DR2 more than Junko in DR1 so I didn't have a problem with it. If she appears again yeah it'd be shit, but how it ended seemed like the natural conclusion to Junko's story. Letting her die with the euphoric despair of death is shitty because she wins. DR2 she actually loses because Hajime refuses to play her game.

Where did it imply that they kept their memories? Is there some secret or optional thing I missed? I only remember seeing Hajime standing there on the dock, nothing suggesting he kept the memories.

The experience could have still altered them at a subconcious level, they just don't have the memories as to how. Like he wakes up wanting to be hajime, just doesn't know why until Naegi explains it.
I forgot the others stayed in the coma, it's been a while since I played it so yah that's a good reason to stay behind.

there are two series that will be shown simultaneously: Despair and Future. Despair is how the SDR2 kids fell into despair, so it's a prequel. Future is about what's going on with the FF after SDR2.

I really like Hiyoko
Gotta be honest I hated DR 2 after getting to the end. It WAS a complete cop out.
Because when you get down to it, this story has little to no impact on shit going on in the setting beyond a quick "Oh hey, Hope reallty DOES overcome despair, thanks guys!" moment.
You/Hinata do not get to solve the mystery of what's going on. At least Naegi figured out the shit Junko was up to. Instead, you get a bullshit game where after curtain pull after curtain pull, the cast from DR1 has to show up to *explain* all this crap that's going on. You don't make a fucking mystery game and then NOT allow the player to actually solve the mystery! And even if they made the 'right'/hopeful decision at the end (at least there's that. Because Fuck Junko.) it's a fucking sham that the game refuses to let you see any of the protagonists. For that matter what does it matter? No matter what else goes on in the story beyond the game, the characters won't matter any more. They're perpetually stuck on the island with a bunch of their friends in plot stasis tubes, and may never awaken. How hopeful indeed...

In Mikan's Island Mode ending, she considers inflicting Hajime with some type of injury so that he'd rely on her treatment for life.
