That's not because of the control scheme, that Bastion is simply retarded.
There would be an argument to be made for a slower FPS game, with full body awareness.
Certainly, the gamepad feels less precise, and slower than what you could attain with a human body, but conversely m+kb in those games where you're basically a disembodied floating gun is lot more efficient and fast.
If the game design follow suits, you could have a good FPS based around gamepad.

Certain games are good on a controller and certain games aren't. Third person games with a focus on melee combat work great, for example.
In the case of FPS and other genres with lot of aiming, though, the superior precision and speed offered by a mouse and keyboard makes a HUGE difference, to the point where you're severely handicapping yourself by not using it if you have the option. Certain game companies have even tried cross-platform multiplayer in the past but the PC players would stomp the console players into the dust every time.

I played Titanfall with high sens. I played CoD with high sens. I played the BF games with high sens. The list goes on.
You don't lose shit, you get used to the new speed (aka: get good) and then you continue to play the game normally. And it even gives you an advantage over others because you can turn around faster than them. In terms of skill ceiling and essentially which control scheme would let you have an advantage, yeah, PC is definitely superior, but I would enjoy having controller-only lobbies in some online games because they necessarily slow the game down and reduce the pace, which I prefer a little bit sometimes.
I also don't understand how people snipe with a mouse. I can't do it. I've done PC shootan for years and I still just cannot snipe with a mouse. Aiming and tracking targets feels so much more granular and you can give your aim just the slightest touch with it while it feels so much harder to do the same adjustments with a mouse. Twitch movements with the whole hand are a lot harder for me than twitch thumb movements.
