I don't know, but the reason there is so much waifu shit is because the game itself doesn't have any of it. There's very little romantic shit in it and most of it is implied, not outright stated. Most of the game is about solving murders and the mystery of how you got trapped in the killing game in the first place. I think its a great series, like an anime version of Ace Attorney.
