I've beaten it before, but nowadays I can't seem to get passed the third mission without deleting my character because something happens that I can't take, like getting a fatal wound or accidentally murdering my allies and taking a huge hit to my karma.
I'm way too OCD for this shit.
Doesn't help that it always takes me like an hour to roll a new character because I have to autisticly calculate my stats to get an ideal spread. (My latest character, who I just deleted, had a total of 313 stat points of character generation, giving him an average stat of 39.125.)

There's like a 5% chance of getting one when you die (Basically 100% if you have no more resurrections or you fall down a hole.), but I still keep getting fucked by them anyway, which is why I'm also autistic about keeping my karma very high, because it reduces the chance.

Here's what I've gathered from reading a bunch of steam discussion threads on the game's plotPlayer = Rimanah = Mentor
You (as in Rimanah, head of the Secreta) are condemned to an endless cycle of guilt/recurring death/dream for executing your wife (Circe, statues of her in HQ and stuff) and possibly attempting to perform necrocybermancy (hence waking up in a cave surrounded by dead allies)
To me, the true ending seems like it's Rimanah's mind telling him that there is no way to break the cycle even after becoming aware of it, as attempting to break the seal just sends you back to the cave.

I think Mentors are exactly what their names say, they are their to train and mentor newer additions to the ranks and are probably high ranking due to their expertise and time spent in the organization, but are still below commanders

The Federation has nothing to do with E.Y.E/Secreta, they are an opposing faction.
It's possible the Federation has a ruling council and the people you meet on the ship are those people (I think they specify this, but it's been a while since I played)
I guess if you compare their ranks though they would be either equal or under Rimanah, since they have power but are under the power of others (The Federation being the other members of the council and Rimanah needing to heed the orders of the Secreta)

From reading this thread it turns out I got the story completely wrong. I always thought the game is about a highly advanced AI (or otherwise near-godly entity) simulating experiences in the form of the actual game and its playthroughs to alter the actual real-world player's mind, meaning altering your brain patterns by having you play through a perceived simulation in the form of the video game. Guess I got that pretty wrong, fuck.
