He's not entirely wrong. The only Japanese developers the west cared about are Capcom, Square, and Konami, and that's only because they were selected to be major players by the PlayStation. I remember some interview with some Jap dev being pissed off with his game being given a limited run while Sony promised him to give him a huge run, and realized that Sony only cared about FF7. Actions like these are what caused the AAAization of the Japanese market, while all the smaller companies were forced to lay low and eventually close shop.

I liked that game the best out of the games I've played (DMC 1, 2 & 3, DmC) and I think the new direction for the series had potential. DmC made me realize how flexible Devil May Cry can be as an IP, both in terms of setting and world design, as well as gameplay.
