Since SWTOR decided to shit on everyone who has been playing for more than a few weeks again, I dropped it for good.
It's a mix ESO and The Secret World for now, but I'm not really feeling like playing either of them lately.

You'll probably get bored rather quick if you don't know what you're getting into. The legit versions which have all the content available are kinda shit, because the later classes are all super saiyan, no matter what you pick they all have some stupidly overpowered aoe, no one needs X class anymore everyone is OP just slightly less shitty and the rest is up to overpowered items from the cash shop.
Biggest problem with RO is no one ever groups anymore, there's very little incentive, and everyone and their mother would rather multibox a secondary account with a priest and/or a sage to beef up their main character rather than group with buff sluts and give them exp and what not.

I would, but that 5k server cap kills it for me. Having 13-15k players on Nost was magical. Grouping up and competing for every little quest was annoying as fuck at first, but it grew on me. Running into groups from the opposing faction while questing in STV was some of the most fun I've had gaming in years.

I played W* on release, reason I quit was 2, end game was a joke, there was no way to progress besides farming that stupid daily island over and over and over again, and ... well raids, which no one was fucking able to do. Second was the fucking bots, you would see 10 flying bots flapping like chickens teleporting from one resource to the next in every single map, devs couldn't have a single GM banning people actively, I spent an entire week doing nothing but reporting bots, and not one of them was banned, so I got tired of it.
Kept my eye on the news eventhough I wasn't subscribed, found out warplots were just another shit feature no one ever uses, which was promised to be some epic feature that allowed for progression but it was all a lie.
The housing feature was also stupidly limited with something like 200 items per house, shit gets boring fast.
Unless something has changed, why would I reinstall again? what's the game offering that it wasn't offering before besides free access without sub? I'm guessing it's even worse since now you'll be fucked by microtransactions or something.

Shit's run client-side. The only things that should be "laggy" is talking to NPCs and entering new areas.
I can't really argue the other points though. The VPN shit is pretty annoying (although you can turn it off after connecting with a fix), and the combat is slightly dumbed down due to the reduced amount of moves you can have. The game's gameplay is better than the other shit on the MMORPG market.

I wish I was playing FFXIV, my trial just ended and I've got WoW time from a friend so I can't feel justified picking up FFXIV, and it's killing me because it's only on sale til the 6th and i've got 26 days of WoW left,, not to mention my friends are gonna want me to pick up Legion which means I wouldn't even be able to play FF for that long. I really liked the game it's just abad time for me to fucking start playing it. My char is on Leviathon and it's been so fucking legit, I got rec'd the server and it's paid off, it's been really enjoyable, it took me refreshing the server list for 2 hours to actually hit Levi and I'd do it again.

I'm still a Dota player first and foremost which is where we spend most of our time, WoW is alreayd super casual, I don't even have a single 100. There's no way I wouldn't burn out if I picked up FF, the game is incredibly enjoyable int he short amount of time I played it, I'll just wait until a good SE sale so I can have the game not linked to steam since apparently they lock out if you do that. Though it's at the point where I would not recommend it to a friend because the management is really, really bad. Worse than your average MMO. Nexon is confidently incompetent. Never listening to the community, which is small and not difficult to please. And growing smaller by the fucking day. If they do address an issue, it's a knee-jerk reaction of some kind. Like when they disabled direct launch, didn't say a goddamn word to the thousands of questions for a solid two weeks until someone submitted an inquiry and got a straight answer. Defiance. Hidden gem, if you ask me. Level-scaling so you can instantly go wherever you want and be able to handle most enemies, and you won't feel unchallenged at high levels. Lots of guns that actually behave different from one another. So far the only shooter/RPG mix that blends them correctly that I've found. Grinding is actually fun because you can do whatever the fuck you want, none of that "kill x complete, now gather y" horse shit. There's always an objective - Kill a boss, rescue an NPC, repair a generator, etc. There are a few places where you just have to wipe the mobs, but the combat is actually fun so it's fine. PVP is said to be good, but I'm so fucking bad at all video games that I can't give that part a fair review.

It doesn't feel very dead. Sure it's not crawling with players at every turn but people gather at Arkfalls (a thing in the game) and invasions and it all gets done just fine. I wouldn't consider it dead until you get to a major in-game event and see less than 20 other people.

Nah see there is a difference between fun grinding and normal unfun grinding. Look at RO's grinding or even Runescape's. Yes they're grindy as hell but they serve a purpose and give you clear rewards. Compare that to, say, Warframe where you just grind for the sake of grinding.

Tera and wildstar are the only mmos I could stand to spend more than 5 hours playing. I like wildstar but the aesthetic is annoying to say the least and the population is still REALLY low. Also nothing is really explained in game so it makes dungeons a pain since if you don't make a huge individual effort you wont be properly geared and the pvp is a whole different beast,

I've tried Tera, PSO2, Black Desert Online, Final Fantasy 14, Runescape... all the big names everyone talks about, plus a lot of smaller MMOs ike Aura Kingdom. Also tried MMOs of different styles/genres like Elsword and Dungeon Fighter Online instead of just the usual tab-targeting games.
I think I'm just over MMOs. They just aren't fun anymore for me, I might of grown out of them or I'm too busy to spend hours grinding or whatever but I just can't do MMOs anymore.

International Ragnarok on steam launch was the fucking best experience I've had with 4chan, TWO guilds that had an unified chat thanks to a 24/7 bot and some really great people?

Got forced into playing ESO with real life friends. They even bought it for me since it costs like $2 now.
It's just another shitty MMO though. Only thing I sort of like about it is how you're not forced into a specific build based on your class choice, which is something more MMOs need to do.

Problem is there is almost no incentive to do so, and on the other side, there is no incentive to aid newer players. Planetside 2 almost got it right - there's a mission right up front that completes upon you joining an "outfit" (guild). Thing is, again, no incentive to accept new players. "kd too low lol git gud" "we only accept capped players with x dps" that kind of shit is running fucking RAMPANT on most free-to-play games, and then the communities bitch and moan about the game's populous shrinking.

You want to know how bad the management is? So in 2011 Vindictus opens up for Australia. JUST Australia. I live in New Zealand and was pretty surprised when I was region locked out of it, since everyone tends to lump New Zealand in with Australia anyway.
And then this year Nexon announced the 5 year anniversary of Vindictus being available for Australia and New Zealand. So I sent them an angry email saying that New Zealand has never had access to the game, ever. After several back and forths with Nexon support, New Zealand finally was able to play the game. The problem was that the TV show cost way more to produce than it made in hard cash and Trion pulled out after the first season. They made 3 seasons of it, I think, so you could totally check it out.
Personally I found it uninteresting, and as you said SyFy aren't all that known for their high production values.
The reason a lot of people don't like the game is because in order to keep it alive, Trion had to start pulling some real jew-moves with Rift. They even said publicly (in a weird PR choice) that Defiance needed the "economic support from Rift".

Nah Defiance is shit once you're done with the story missions, before that it's acceptable. Like the only worthwile content requires a bunch of people to swarm the big objectives, but guess what, since no one gives a fuck about the game anymore the engine is craptastic, a big event spawns, 10-20 faggots go there, little by little more people come, and then you realize the enemies stop spawning, the players are frozen, and the music has stopped, you're stuck and the game kicks you out, repeat add infinitum.
It's a shame because most of what you said it's true, but the client is garbage, the netcode abyssmal, sniping is impossible, and late enemies become huge damage sponges. Also the pvp area is nothing but capped players stealthed one shotting you.
Funny because it's hardly pay2win, I even was tempted to buying some of the DLC, if it wasn't for how horrible and unplayable the multiplayer part is.

Just take a look at any MOBA or modern MMO. Those already require 3 shitters to work together, most MMOs have 4. Imagine trying to get 4 shitters to work together for longer periods of time, in a combat system that isn't just "press buttons and watch pretty lights". I mean, a normal cyclops fight involves the following:

Most MMOs require you to move out of the red zone, make sure you're close to the healer, and not worry about much else that's happening on-screen. The amount of co-ordination isn't much, but it turns out most people are retarded. And if you fail to buff your weapons, then the fight drags on for around an hour at the higher levels.
People would complain, and leave the game because it's "too hard". And that would kill the game, considering it's F2P.

You get double exp for any class/job at least 1 level below your top, not too metnion there's a fuck ton of items/tools that are available once you have a max lvl job. On top of food bonus exp, on top of rested exp, on top of levequests and GCs. Your first 60, 50 in the case of only having ARR, will take multitudes longer than any other max level you do afterwards.
If you're not aware of how FFxiv works, you carry all your classes/jobs/crafts on one character. You don't make alts, I mean you can, but it's more about having a personal influence on your Realm, which is why RP is so prevalent and Realm loyalty is a legitimate thing. TERA is a hell of a trip up until level 38. At that point the game slows down to a grindy mess.
Level 50-55 is the worst part of the game.
After that, it's smooth sailing.
FFXIV also lacked a bunch of shit from modern mmos. If you played 1.0 it was really slow since everything was meant to play on a controller, but then when you move on to 2.0 the game still lacked basic shit and Yoshi's excuses were really made you question if he really played mmos such as a few patches ago they just now added a way to see your TP bar, and in 3.0 this last patch they just now added PARTIAL SEARCH for the market board and the game has been out for over 5 years now. My point is you can't play mmos for its quests. Theres not as much incentive as in other mmos, but you still need to join others for pvp, which is the focus point of the mmo, and its much better to handle bosses in a group. I do have that itch for dungeons though. I like working in groups to beat raids and all that. Maybe it'll be added in the future.

DFO got licensed to two different development teams who are both in development now. One is a straight up reboot of Darkfall 1.0, called "Rise of Agon". The other is "New Dawn", Darkfall 1.0 with additional changes, namely alignment systems, localized banking, trade routes, skillcaps - a lot of which was planned in original Darkfall, trying to be a 3d "modern" ultima online.
Both projects look good so far. As you could tell from what i just wrote, i'm more on the "New Dawn" side of things but I'd like both to turn out non-shitty. I always felt like Darkfall had a lot of great concepts and potential but was plagued by shitty execution and an incompetent company. I thought it could have been more than a fuckhuge FFA deathmatch map that it ultimately became.
Anyhow, to again answer: Darkfall is currently dead, but "Rise of Agon" I think has a development server, and "New Dawn" has a server launching on tuesday. I'm curious if a niche like FFA pvp/full looting mmo is going to result in enough players, in addition to being kind of a sullied brand name, to fill up two different versions of the game.
The good news is aventurine has zero to do with these new darkfalls besides cashing the check.

I downloaded it again after the steam release and its like a completely different game in terms of difficulty. if you're talking about leveling dungeons, then yes. They're easier now. The gear checks in leveling dungeons aren't as strict as vet dungeons anymore, which is fair enough.
And world content was never hard. Later on there would be mobs that could ruin your day if you pulled too carelessly, but it was never a real challenge. Some enemies like quest and expedition bosses have had their hp increased and hit harder though.

Tera combat is slower then Dragon Nest by a wide margin. You cannot fight stuff 30 levels higher then you. You do no damage and have no armor. Gear actually matters in fact the entire game is gear dependent in the long run when you actually look at how the scaling works.
Tera since launch, I quit after waiting 6 months for content and when it finally hit cleared the T18 cycle (T7 because lol gear score crunch) in the first fucking day of it's launch. Starfall being made the following week didn't help either, not to mention it was just another 1% increase on Tanks, 2% on dps, and less then 1% difference on healers.
Tera is a total garbage game from the perspective of watching it crumble to garbage with shit tons of recycled content, asset reuse out the ass, elin pandering, cutting remodeling in favor of costume shop, making dyes garbage and worthless, making 99.9% crafting worthless and making it less and less every single patch since Fate of Arun.

You can do a lot of shit. Theres cooking, alchemy, leather/clothworking, blacksmithing, woodworking, enchanting.
Quests are the best in any MMO, and everything is fully voiced, dungeons are pretty cool and the veteran versions can be pretty challenging. I haven't done raids so I can't comment on that tho, but they seem cool.
The game rewards exploration, and is possibly the most alt friendly game out there because after you reach the level gap (50) you start accumulating champion points which are global among all your characters. That means that if you roll a new one, once you reach level 50 you are on par with your highest leveled character.
PvP is fun at first but unless you are good you'll spend most of your time running back to the fight, so it becomes a horse riding simulator. Imperial City seems more fun but I haven't played it either.
All in all, very comfy game you'll feel like a real adventurer and IMO the best MMO out there with pretty much zero grind until end game when you start doing the dungeons to get dat monster helm.

It is and it isn't. It's one of the hardest genres of games to make, at least in terms of how much it costs to make vs potential profit.
A lot of the problem is WoW and chasing the huge population numbers. Most of the games that turn out "decent" go for a niche segment of players rather than trying to appeal a little bit to everyone broadly.
The trend is moving back towards niche smaller mmos but most of the good ones are still a year or more away and we're stuck with shit in the meantime (as in shouldn't be playing mmos at all right now unless self-hatred/autist/weeb/ERPer/etc).
One of the better smaller mmos that is playable now is Project Gorgon, literally being made by a dude and sometimes his wife. However, 99% of you wouldn't be into it as it's ugly as fuck, no avatarfagging potential, no waifus, no bikini armor, no lolis, no furries, blah blah.
So you can blame WoW, but you can also blame modern mmo players who when taken as a whole don't know wtf they want anyhow.

The game is very basic, but solid, as in it plays smoothly and it's not buggy as fuck, somewhat even pretty, but looks more like a game from 2010-12 than 2016 that's it.
It's not like a big super fucking release or anything, i just need something to stay busy till revelation online comes out in a few months, this should give you at least a week or two if you try all out the classes.

PSO2 can be fun but the game's management is incredibly incompetent which has been ruining the experience. (see Star Gem Scratch for the latest bullshit they pulled). Plus meaningful content worth logging in for comes out at a snail's pace
Dragon's Dogma Online is really comfy, but some fights can get real tedious due to the stamina system. Good thing they're fixing that up a bit soon. The other problem is that I have noone to play with most of the time since /ddg/ doesn't care for the game anymore (even though it's still easy to get on and play with the VPN trick). The game feels like a total chore if you dont play with at least one other person.
I dont really care for anything else. Two of these games aren't even real MMOs, and I guess that's why they're good to play.

p99 economy is fucked compared to eqlive's, for example on most eqlive servers after kunark launched, a fbss was ~2kpp. on p99 it was 10-12kpp which is absolutely insane. staff corruption was also a huge problem with rogean himself and uthgaard respawning raid mobs for <Inglourious Basterds>, the community being extremely insular and at the top end, people shy away from you if you are a no-name who didn't join the server with a well-established guild of friends, nobody is going to want to trust you in a raid/want to recruit you and backflag/key you for raid content either.
it's really not worth it, coming from someone who played everquest religiously from release date until 2007 in <Triton>, p99 is nowhere near the actual classic EQ experience.

I haven't tried to get into raids, and I probably never will because of the time zones, but I've never experienced straight up rude people when grouping, it might be connected to me being a cleric, but I can't relate to this point

And that's probably the thing, I never played classic on the live servers, this server is my first time playing EQ, I don't know what the actual classic experience feels like but what I do know is that I'm having fun.

The Museum part seems tacked on but I enjoy looking for new lore
