Honestly it's not any harder to get into the industry than any other industry. Internet fucked Academia up the ass, go get a job in the fastest growing industry instead. Also if you genuinely want to work on games, you'll never be happy with yourself until you do. If someone says it's a bad idea, they aren't your friend or they're too afraid to do it themselves.

One month and i am my own boss, which basically means i take on two or three extra tasks and earn a few thousand bucks extra a month. I shit ye not, my whole life is one huge display of going with the flow and the flow taking me to good places.
