That tiered dungeon system seems like pure speculation that one anon was pushing in the last thread. He couldnt suggest a way that concievably made sense for them to gate your progress, once you have the glider
>>
>>342839257

Back on the N64, an Islamic lobbying group threw a fit and got Nintendo to change the Fire Temple theme because it was 'offensive to Islamic chanting'. Now they've called something Oman, which is the name of a Muslim country.

Why are you able to eat during combat?
They need to get that shit out of the pause menu or at least make a lengthy real time animation for it.
>>
>>342839974
Here's hoping.

>>342840118
Not likely, the sword needs to survive.

>>342840208
If you can't swing a sword and eat an apple, you should seek medical attention.
>>
So we're in agreement that BotW is on a "hero fails" timeline branching off WW where Ganondorf wished to de-flood Hyrule but then got his ass sealed in Hyrule Castle?
>>
>>342840314
Nobody is agreeing on anything because we factually know fuck all.
>>
>>342839394
In ALBW when you enter Lorule, you are stuck inside that zone. Unless you return the way you came and go to a new one. The image proposes this is the same premise behind the plateau. Basically it's a font to cover up that all the dungeons are the same tier, and only the shrines have any depth.

>>342839681
I don't know I can think of plenty.

Rivers you need a boat for, strong winds (so you need Iron Boots), mountain range too steep to climb but also too windless to traverse without a grappling hook. Lakes of tar you need to run over with Pegasus boots.

I don't think they'll employ one thing across a whole region. I think they'll go "to get this far into the game they'll need to have done either A or B dungeon, unless they did X shrine." However, in the instance of the latter (if you did X shrine), you might keep running into the same obstacle over and over till you break.

That's how they'll do it.

I mean being able to heal while paused has always been a thing in zelda games, as well as numerous other games. 2nd, its not impossible to die because plenty of people were dying while playing the demo, also there are enemies that due a great deal of damage. Thirdly, if you fall in cold water or some other hazard, no amount of healing is gonna save you seeing how quickly your hearts deplete.

or maybe itll just be not that good of a weapon for general-purpose use, with other weapons you can find in the game much superior to it for most uses (except for that they break after some amount of use) with the master sword, besides being unbreakable, only really being strong against a certain, limited set of enemies/bosses (ganon/dorf)

The kokiri didn't evolve into koroks, it's just a form they can take, kinda like how they took the form of children in OoT and those mole things in Skyward Sword. They take this form for some reason whenever the kingdom is in peril or decline.

Or maybe Nintendo just wanted to include them and didn't think autistic retards would debate the timeline placement over a single fucking korok.

>Basically, if you don't finish up in an area, it lets you know that there's still more to be done.

>>
>>342846880
If you talk to one of the Bomber kids and he gives you a clue, the notebook opens up and records it, so that it is constantly opening up, and you have a long list of "rumored" events.

Sounds annoying, but I kind of like it, since I don't play the game as constantly as I would when I was a kid.
>>
>>342846880
Rather than write it out, I'm feeling lazy, I lifted this from IGN.

The Bomber's Notebook, originally given to you by Jim, leader of the Bomber's Gang, no longer requires you to talk to the Bomber Gang as regular Link. The Happy Mask Salesman now gives it to you early in the story.

The new version of the Bomber's Notebook has been improved in functionality and options, providing much more detail on characters you've met, rumors you've heard (rumors are now given by members of the Bomber's Gang), and Side Quests you've completed. The three menus include an Event Notes tab of every side quest that has been rumored/in progress/completed, the Schedule (which remains mostly the same from previous versions) and the Map tab, that shows you where on your map to go for certain side quests.

Several side objectives that were not present in the Bomber's Notebook because they lacked a relevant NPC have now been added to the Notebook, and one entirely new side-quest has been added

1.) there are 5 "options" not 4
2.) You have no source whatsoever for the basic claim of this: that you'll be landlocked into a region after jumping off the great plateau. It actually goes against what they've said about the game already
3.) Aonuma said that Ocarina of Time USED TO be the secret sauce, and that for this game players should expect a move from Japanese to western style food. You can't even get the fucking quotes right.
4.) Choosing to do the story first doesn't mean headed for the final boss. How you made that jump defies logic.
5.) The three options quote is true but you are using it as a support for an argument that it doesn't actually connect to.

Stop posting this retarded image every thread. It's just misinformation that purposely leaves out all the important quotes like:

"After you leave the plateau you are free to go anywhere and do whatever you want to do"

Or when Bill Trinton said the first thing he did when he got off the plateau was head for the edge of the map.

Stop posting this image.

Every single post-FSA game is set in a timeline where there are no Gerudos in hyrule.
Minish Cap and Skyward Sword are set before OoT which is when the gerudo people started interacting with the hylians. The DS games are set post-ww so the gerudos, like most of the older races, are extinct. ALBW is set in the ruin timeline where we never saw Gerudos in the first place and nobody seems to be aware they existed.
The only instance where it's not justified is TP, and even then it could just be the case that the hylian army chased away the gerudos after ganondorf's execution (we see them in majora's mask but that's not set in hyrule and it might not be set in the real world at all, and they only show up in FSA which is set many generations apart after ganondorf is born again).
Wether or not it was a deliberate decision on their part to avoid including them I have no idea, but it makes perfect sense for them not to show up in these games (again, except for maybe TP).

I'm sure there'll be some, but MM only got so hard in on sidequests by making it the focus of the game. lol, no.
Gerudo aren't around anymore because of all of the muslim controversy over the years.
Nintendo has retconned the lore when it gets in the way of their primary plans, and they'll do it time and time again.
They then bend the new lore around that.

Simple as that.
>>
>>342848548
Gerudo probably won't show up again for the same reason Kokiri won't. They have very limited appeal, and there's too much story baggage to them. Most of the recurring races are recurring mostly through virtue of being interesting visual designs, and having a simple enough theme that they work in multiple settings.

Link has always been an underage boy who's either girly or good-looking in the looks department. This is how it is and how it should be.

It wouldn't be Zelda if we had it any other way, especially so if Link was some typical western RPG macho protagonist in his 30's-40's.
>>
>>342852823
I'm sorry gamergate, not everything is about politics. Though, as you would know if you bothered to read my post, I specifically mentioned that they may have been removed for whatever reason, but fact is that there would be no reason for a Gerudo to show up in any of these last few games, just like it would make no sense for a subrosian to show up outside of holodrum or for a rito to show up in any game that isn't set after ww.

>>
>>342852910
Koroks are connected to the Kokiri in the story. But they're not Kokiri. Kokiri are immortal fairy children. Koroks are tiny trees.
>>
>>342852837
Kokiri are literally just koroks/kikwi taking on a different form.

The Kokiri were never "dead," they're simply immortal and they just constantly shape-shift to suit their environment. Though through Makar, it's implied that they do lose their memory over a given period of time.

Master Sword Locations.jpg
1003KB, 1972x1960px
Few things of note.

WW Hyrule Castle was most likely built over the Temple of Time, the pillars, the architecture in comparison to TP's Temple of Time, the Triforce Symbol on the floor in front of where the Master Sword would reside. However, in this instant WW's would be in reverse from TP.

OoT has a very similar window to the one above the architecture in WW (the circular one above the doorway leading outside). However you can't see this from inside the OoT Temple of Time, only on the outside as you enter.

We know the Sealed Temple in SS becomes the Temple of Time, and it has the same pillars and general layout.

We know in the Historia that a Temple once rested in the Lost Woods of ALttP/ALBW, but as we've seen and the Historia says, it's lost to ruin and overgrown.

Now comes BotW, based on layout, how it looks from the ouside, etc. It matches up with the rest of the Temples for the most part, barring the Hylia Statue which should only be there as of SS (and it can't be that far back unless they're retconning Ganon's origins). However we see the Master Sword is now in a forest.

So a few things can be taken from this. The Temple of Time in BotW is not the same Temple of Time as everywhere else and is only a recreation, or it is the same Temple of Time and the Master Sword has been moved by Zelda or this Link prior to his sleep for whatever reason, maybe an attack on the Sacred Realm/Temple of Time due to the Guardians outside.

Whether or not he is a kid or a young adolescent, Link is supposed to be young and surprisingly inexperienced.

If Link was a mighty warrior and legend fit for the task from the start, it would undermine the whole courage deal the games got going.
Link's legend is made more special because it always starts out with an inexperienced youth on the surface no more special and likely even less suited for the task than lots of others, and yet he persists and prevails over challenges no one else could.

It's the wrong kind of story to star an experienced veteran of any kind.

They live in the forest around a Great Tree, they're in the Faron Woods (same place in TP that houses the Forest Temple with Kokiri Symbols), they also talk about Farore's Flame, Farore associated with the Kokiri.

However, based on the facing direction of the Sealed Temple in SS that inevitably becomes the Temple of Time, that puts Faron Woods as the Hyrule Field in OoT, meaning that Faron Woods may have been chopped down leading to OoT and the Kikwi forced to retreat to further forest and to take on a human form so as to not be killed by Hylians or have their woods chopped down, and it happens to grow back and be renamed Faron Woods by the time TP happens in the Child Timeline.

Just a theory however.
>>
>>342854438
The Wind Waker temple/castle really was incredibly cool.
It really outdoes all the other temple/castle locations in the franchise. People who ignore WW for its artstyle are really missing out.
>>
>>342854754
If that was the case, it would make it Hyrule Castle in WW, not the Temple of Time, the two places are in all likelihood the same exact place.

Besides it wouldn't explain who removes the Master Sword from Ganondorf's skull (or how), or the fact that there aren't islands/mountains jettisoning up into the sky.

Personally I loved TP's Hyrule Castle more, the outdoor courtyard, the first room you actually visit being an audience chamber, the throne room at the top.

Speaking of TP Hyrule Castle.

Anybody know what the hell these are, I saw them looking around, but they're quite far away from Hyrule Castle so they can't be part of it's spires.
>>
>>342854103
They why were they in FSA where it made sense if the controversy you spoke about was during the N64 days? Why did absolutely nobody complain about them in that instance (which is the most recent one)?
Fact is, Gerudos only show up in OoT and the child timeline games and they show up in every single one outside of TP, just like koroks only show up in the adult timeline and there's mostly only humans in the ruin timeline.
Japanese people do not give half a shit about offending brown people. If that happened nowadays they would have just edited the western version like they remove all content that is offensive to muslims now (like scantly dressed women).
Nintendo japan is so out of touch that I doubt they even realize they could be offensive to anyone. Also there's a long list of zelda races that stopped showing up at some point since the games focused on bits of the timeline where it would make no sense for them to show up, were they all protested by some specific group?

and from looking at this pic, I realized something:

If BoTW does take place in the downfall timeline, between OoT and ALTTP - does this mean we have a chance to run into the Hero's Shade to teach us some new tricks again?

Except this time around he won't he won't just be teaching sword skills, he could be more like an optional companion this time around. Not a hardened skeletal warrior but a teenage ghost with the mind of a child on account of him being murdered by Ganondorf in this split?

I mean we're already getting Wolf Link and the game is showing a lot of nods to previous entries in the series; might as well go all-out with it.
>>
>>342854438
>However we see the Master Sword is now in a forest.
Interestingly enough the rusted "master sword" is roughly where it wouldn't be odd to find it in relation to the temple of time.

Could be that it used to be in the temple but then they replaced it with a shitty replica.

I mean that would be the logical assumption, but I'm pretty sure that barrier was just magic.

>>342855482
Same here, especially given the ruins with all the flowers that has a similar layout to Zelda's Courtyard in OoT being nearby.

Curious who moved the Master Sword then, very few actual people can touch it, only Zelda/Link if I recall.
>>
>>342854110

>>
>>342855725
Possible, but I imagine not. Since that Replica is off a bit to the side of it. I'm quite curious, normally they're pretty good at being consistent for the 3D games, barring the direction the Temple of Time actually faces that is.

No, but it's set in the timeline where the Hero of Time died and failed to protect Hyrule.

If the Hero's Shade exists in the child timeline for merely being unable to pass down his sword skills, then I would think he'd have a lot more regret in the downfall timeline, where he actually outright failed and nearly doomed Hyrule because of it.

Nintendo probably won't do it though, the Shade is most likely a one-off for TP and nothing else.

Because geography changes over time. I don't see why people are still using that as indication of WW.

We even see in SS that the Lanayru Desert used to be an ocean in the past, but time changes. Could just be a similar situation as opposed to "the Goddess' literally decided "fuck Daphnes' wish, fuck the people's prayers, fuck it all, unflood Hyrule".
>>
>>342839081
I think it's important to keep in mind that, just because you CAN reach a dungeon, and CAN enter said dungeon, doesn't necessarily mean that you can beat it.

Furthermore there's entirely the possibility, given the extensive gameplay footage we've got, that many puzzles may be designed with qualities that allow for multiple solutions, and that complexity could still increase over time the further away you get, especially as you explore areas with tougher enemies or harsher climates. Examples of multiple solutions include that one physics puzzle with the giant stone ball chained to a track and held on by a smaller metal ball in said track. You could use the magnesis rune to pull it back and then forward, swinging the ball into the wall, or you could use the stasis rune to build up kinetic energy in the ball. I'd be willing to bet you could use the shock from bombs to get it swinging, too.

I mean it's not exactly like ALBW, where you can literally buy every tool from the beginning. You have to find them. You have to earn them. Hell, there's lots of types of puzzles and challenges in existence that could give challenge to a dungeon without needing even a single tool to beat it.

ALBW's difficulty curve was silly, yes, but it was basically only one or two tiers in all surrounding zones, y'know? Think of a circle with eight lines coming out of it, ending on one point, that circle they form is the first and only difficulty tier. Basically ALBW. But that doesn't need to be BotW. It could be four lines in four points, branching into two or three more lines in two or three points each for a second tier, and so on. Nonlinear, but still with direction and challenge.

I doubt they're going to give up that gimmick entirely, given the NDS and 3DS's success with it. The Wii U was a misstep, but if this is truly a new era, and a new "third pillar" is being born that is not a direct successor to either the Wii U or the 3DS, but rather to both simultaneously (as both portable and console divisions were merged for its development), I'd be willing to bet it's either:

A) A high-power handheld touchscreen controller capable of streaming to TV via HDMI USB, and when taken on the go will simply display both top and bottom screens on its main screen, which will be foldable in the middle.

or

B) A console and a separate portable system with the exact same architecture that can share the exact same game cartridges

I actually really dislike this. A second screen is actually able to benefit so many games, but since the Wii U did so poorly barely any games have actually benefited from it. And that's a huge shame.
And now that entire innovation is being abandoned without ever really having had a chance to do any good yet.

I see this said alot but I think it's a bit of an assumption, isn't it? It's said few can "wield" it, meaning few can use it properly. Surely, many have probably held the sword given it was forged and in some games upgraded. It takes someone special or someone who has proven their worth to draw it from the pedestal though, but assuming it was already in use, anyone should be able to return it to said pedestal.

At least, that's how I've always read the situation.
>>
>>342853532
Goddamn you are a moron. When I say Koroks are not Kokiris, I do not mean they are not connected by the story. I mean that Zelda doesn't do an immortal race of fairy children, just like they don't do a race of female-only vaguely Arabic thieves. The games don't reuse either race because they're just slight off-human variants who are only interesting because of story, which wouldn't get reused even if the characters came back. Koroks, Gorons, Zoras, those come back in new games because they're visually interesting designs that can be reused in new settings without losing their appeal. And even then, a bunch of other races don't get reused just because! Gerudos being phased out doesn't mean a controversy, when they aren't as reusable as other races who have also gotten the cut.
>>
>>342860964

Well if I recall it's mentioned that it has a will of it's own and chooses who gets to pick it up and that impure people can't touch the blade, like Ganondorf. Girahim being an exception, but he's basically Fi's counterpart and just a spirit.

I mean so far we've only seen Link touch the blade, barring WW Zelda picking it up. I mean you can count the blacksmiths in ALttP/ALBW if you want, but those upgrades don't carry over so it's likely not canon. Only other option places are FSA and OoA/S, and OoA/S is likely based around the fact that Link just goes and gets the Sword from Hyrule to deal with Ganon in the meantime, and FSA it's not the Master Sword since you stay split.
>>
>>342854517

I seriously can't comprehend why they keep using it despite the fact that the cel-shaded/toon-like Zelda games just don't sell that well, period.

They should've gone with something akin to Hyrule Warriors, it's not like the Wii-U can't handle it if Xenoblade X is any proof.

They keep using it because Nintendo is lazy and hates good graphics/tech.

Menus, maps, inventory management, all sorts of shit that would require you to pause on the main screen can be done on the bottom screen.

Hell, Monster Hunter's got the right idea and gives you a literal customizable bottom screen so you can optimize what options you want at your fingertips instead of having to go through menus or scroll through an item wheel or do some ridiculous button combination, just tap. Hell, the quick combination menu on the bottom screen is exceptionally handy for gunners.

Don't want to bother with the Target Cam? Get rid of that. Got a CPP or a N3DS? Ditch the virtual d-pad. Want to get the map off the top screen to unclutter your field of view in battle, but don't want to go into a menu to constantly enable and disable it just to check your mao? Move it to the bottom screen and you can just tap it to zoom in and out.

>>
>>342863601
Yeah, it's pretty obvious that Nintendo is playing lazy with this title thanks to the shitty animations and art direction alone.

Ever since the Wii's success, it's almost as if Nintendo's forgotten that presentation, music, atmosphere and art direction are equally as important for games now - even moreso for open world adventure titles.
>>
>>342863751
>Now you're just baiting.

No, I'm not baiting.
Wind Waker didn't sell that well.
Skyward Sword didn't sell that well.
The DS and 3DS games featuring Toon Link or some cartoonish art style like TFH didn't sell that well.

The only real exception is PH, and that game didn't have any legs.
Meanwhile ALBW had moderate sales. They weren't underwhelming but they weren't great.

>garbage looking faces
The eyes are a little droopy, big whoop. Plus it's based off an anime-esque artstyle so it's not too surprising it won't translate too well to 3DS.

>shocking lack of attention to detail
Yeah, no. There was a lot of attention to detail in that game, there's just no point in giving those cars collision detection, and the game wasn't based around physics puzzles.

>BOTW has an assload of small mechanics and features which are much easier to develop/animate/discard with a more simple artstyle.
This is an actual argument I agree with, but ultimately has nothing to do with what I was arguing against. The exact argument was "[nintendo] just don't have the resources to make a realistic looking world of that scale" wherein scale means size, which is just factually incorrect given that they already did it with XCX.

In greater probability, at least a part of the reason Nintendo chose the artstyle because they're artsy farts doofuses that prize aesthetic over realism, and that's something I appreciate about them. The ease of processing other shit going on in said artstyle was probably an equal objective, at best. Like, "How can we balance style AND substance without significantly poor performance?"

Yep, they also have a few other eye like symbols around. Zant's swords have it at the end of the hilt and behind the throne is a stylized eye as well. It is. Majora didn't come from Termina. The Happy Mask Salesman already had it while he was in the Lost Woods, so it's clearly from Hyrule and came from a Dark Tribe that used it in rituals, likely the Interlopers/Twili faction of the Sheikah, might be why they were banished to the Twilight Realm in the first place.

I thought Ezlo was a charm point and a pretty decent companion character overall, but I really liked the game's shrinking and duplication gimmicks, world design, art style, music, tool selection, dungeon puzzles, bosses, and all that shit. Like I know it was pretty linear by Zelda standards, but even then it still had a surprisingly wide selection of optional stuff to do an exploration to uncover despite that.

Also Kinstones never really bothered me much, so I guess that helps my perception of the game.

I especially loved Castor Wilds. I feel like not enough games do a proper swamp or wild overgrowth section, and that whole area felt ancient and ruined in the most... comfortable ways. Dat music also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSUzdeFAid0

>yfw you hit a whole room full of diggable soft walls

They were most likely just regular Sheikah. Banished by the royal family for whatever the reason. like out of fear or whatever.
>>
>>342864952
I thought the same...
>>
>>342868143
A bunch of unrelated stuff? They both literally have the Sheikah Symbol dealing with them, they both have blue tone skin and red hair, they both use Shadow Magic (the same as the Sheikah), they both have red eyes, same as the Sheikah, the only thing they don't have that the Sheikah do is white hair, and either they're an off-shoot or they intermingled with Gerudo at some point hence the red hair.

I mean I don't know how much more obvious you can get, you act like Aonuma and crew don't put in obvious references to other games and that Zelda doesn't have lore in some places quite heavily. The Interlopers/Twili are clearly connected to the Sheikah in some way, shape, or form and Midna and Veran are clearly related to each other (maybe not by blood) in some way, shape, or form. It's stupidly obvious.

I think their technology in TP and SS implies that Zelda takes place in a world that was once incredibly technologically advanced, so far back we'll never even see it in a game outside of time travel maybe, which was something they intended to do with ALttP

And since then the world has gone back to nature and civilization started over at some point

They might've not been called Sheikah way back then but always used an eye of truth as their symbol
>>
>>342869676
>Or maybe they were banished because they were involved in doing some really shifty and horrifying shit, TP's backstory alone is proof that they had a reason to be feared.
I really don't think it was anything too explicit. I deem it far more likely that the royal family simply came to the conclusion that the Sheikah had just grown too powerful to be trusted. Housing too many secrets and powerful knowledge.

From the accounts of Midna the Twili in general honestly don't sound too bad. And she even worked with Zelda who banished them in the first place out of her own sense of justice, and what she considered to be the fair thing for her own people. In spite of it technically not benefiting her/them. What Zant was technically in the favor of the Twili, and the Twili were finally reclaiming the world that they were banished from, reclaiming what they had lost. So for Midna to stand up against that in spite of that makes her rather credible to me. And if she still considered her kingdom and people to be good people at large then I believe that to have been the case.

The Twili having been wrongfully banished also goes hand in hand with Zant's unnatural anger and frustration, and serves as a believable source for the rebelling Twili's anger.

The Twili actually having been up to some evil or otherwise unlawful acts and simply being banished as a result really cheapens the whole deal with the Twili.
>>

It's likely war and geographical changes have caused it. Lanayru Desert losing it's water for instant or the Unification War before OoT as well. Now we just have Ganon fucking shit up constantly.

SS takes place shortly after the creation of the world. There isn't any "time" for the world Hyrule is on to ever have been "highly technologically advanced", all this "technology" is obviously technology+magic anyways. And probably just experimental stuff done small-scale by the Sheikah.

The spirits literally spell out to you that the Twili's ancestors created a war that would've nearly wiped out Hyrule with their magic if they hadn't intervened.

They created the Fused Shadow and likely Majora's Mask as well since they both share so many similarities in terms of design and function.

They were pretty fucking bad.
>>
>>342870942
>after the creation of the world

I don't really trust a bunch of primitive Hylians to know when the world was created. It's far more likely that Hyrule and the plane of existence it sits upon has been around for much, much longer and the Hylians are just assuming that due to lost history and records. Lanayru Sand Sea is proof of this.
>>
>>342870942
It's actually quite awhile after. There was enough time in between the two for Demise and the Demons to rise from the Earth and wage war with Hyrule and for a Hero to stop and imprison him with Hylia and for Skyloft and the Hylians to be sent into the sky.

Demise is likely the cause of technologies descent and Hyrule's rebuilding. It seems every time Hyrule is close to being near that technological jump again that Ganon(dorf) attacks too.

Or in some cases they view technology as bad due to the Sheikah/Interlopers and the war they waged.
>>
>>342871467
But in that book Hyrule History or whatever, it states that the creation of the world occured a few centuries at most before the time in which SS takes place.
