They are using custom navis, but its mostly for corner cutting reasons, like only having the standard voice font, fixed chip attack and no horizontal movement.
This allows the console to run 3 navis in the same time share of one, and normally it works well when you hardwire em with some good attacks and plan up a good strategy.
