I'm looking for a game where I can explore outerspace or underwater in a spaceship that I can walk around in. Best example to illustrate would be Noctis, but I'm looking for something more modern, and preferably freeware on PC.
Space Engine is great, but there's no spaceship mode like Noctis.
there really aren't many games that do this particular thing except KOTOR and Ass Erect. Star Wars Galaxies did but that's dead and gone.

Not at all what you're looking for probably but the closest "star trek" game that gets you to being a captain of a ship, dredging through enemy territory, and fighting off ships using torpedoes, and evading while caring for damage and hoping your bulk heads hold is.... the Silent Hunter series, SH5 let's you walk around the entire ship. SH4 is still the best of the series though
I remember an old FPS from years ago called Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter. I played the demo and it had you starting off flying a spaceship that you could walk around in.

Been looking for a game like that for 20 years OP. Probably longer.
Look at Pulsar: Lost Colony.

Barotrauma is free let's you walk around in a submarine and is on a moon with water.
