HL2 holds up much better than some more modern titles released in the past couple years alone, and it's still a total joy to replay.

He's right tho. It's a perfectly decent game, but it's nowhere as good as the first one. HL2 have big pacing problems, overuse the physic puzzle gimmck, some guns feel like pea shooter and AI is disappointing as fuck (well, it's not worse than the first one, but considering what Valve had show in trailers and pre-release showcase, the downgrade is hitting hard). Some level are also sucking ass through a straw.
