I often hear people saying that PCB is the go-to game for new players and that it's an easy game in general, but I have so much trouble with some of the bosses.
Meanwhile MoF isn't all that bad in comparison to me, and I've gotten very close to beating it several times. (Wouldn't take long for me to 1cc after actually being able to beat it once or twice).

For my first 1cc or in general? The one team with Yukari and Reimu which is way too strong.
Whichever type is the needle one as Reimu in general.
Broad enough shots to kill stage trash, good enough damage to work through bosses at a decent pace. I used to roll with homing shots, but having to actually move around to keep my attacks on the boss is forcing me to get better at the games, which is a positive thing.
I haven't played in a while, but the last 2 games I tried to play were SA and DDC. Shit's hard god damn.

There really isn't any overpowered shottype, although there are bad ones (Magic team and solo shots minus Youmu). The simplest would be Border team. If you don't want to learn stages, you could just play Ghost team and unfocus at the bottom of the screen as Yuyuko

Woah woah, now I'm all for saying that Magic Team is overrated in IN, but MAlice cannon alone excludes it from being "bad".
And as far as solo shots go, Marisa is pretty good as well, and Solo Remilia is pretty damn good if you're confident in your abilities and don't need to shoot familiars.
Again, the only really shitty shots are Solo Alice and Solo Sakuya, for different reasons.

There's not a whole lot to dodge, though. Just put yourself between the horizontal bullet lines and move left and right when Nitori shoots bullets at you. Then put yourself between the next set of horizontal bullet lines, rinse and repeat.
Also, I hope you don't want to beat MoF on Hard in the future. The hard mode version of Nitori's first spellcard - now THAT'S bullshit and I hated it.

There's one half of the screen that gets less dense patterns than the other half. I can't remember which half was it, though, but I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out with repeated tries.

There was a steady progress of 1ccs and then I ran into SA, UFO, and LoLK. And I never bothered with TD because it was boring.
So let me get this straight.
Anti-lolk people:

Can we all at least agree that LoLK's biggest and most objective flaw is thatyou can't save replays in Pointdevice mode?

+PD is a good mode for practicing a game that is frankly brutally difficult and unforgiving.
+PD can be turned off completely if you so wish.
+Legacy's resource mechanics simply reward you for playing well, which is always a good design choice, and is rather generous, good for such a brutal game.
+Grazing hasn't felt this satisfying since SA.
-Resource mechanics can be cheesed (not as badly as DDC though kek)
-Hitboxes are a bit too large on certain bullets. This is most noticable on stars, and is probably a holdover from ISC.
-Laser hitboxes come out too quickly, making them too hard to react to. Lasers like in IN would be nice.
-Game assumes that you will play on PD first, game feels unfair if you don't use it to learn it. Not necessarily a major fault, mind you.
-A visible indication to show when you reach enough graze for a life would have been nice. Maybe use those spell circles for reaching full human mode in IN or something.
Not bringing up patterns or characters, in case you are mentally challenged those are subjective things. Won't bring up glitches either because every Touhou game has those. And to LoLK's credit, it hasn't crashed on me yet, unlike some other Touhou games.
