Is there any way to build a good PC for playing games without it costing me an arm and a leg ($2,000)?

I'm poor as fuck and been on consoles my whole life, then my friends turned into elitist PC Master Race and I'm tired of playing on inferior platforms.
>>
you can build one starting around $600

Uh? Get a second hand dell an throw 750ti in it

Is the GPU the most important component? I don't really want a super low grade PC, I just can't afford the high end shit.

My price range is $1,000-1,200, could I do well on that and be able to keep up with reqs from newer games?
>>
2000 dollar computer is pretty overkill. You can get a decent one for less than half that.

Well I Google "Good gaming PC build" and got a link to PC Gamers website and it listed out a ton of pricey shit, and an $800 GPU

You can build a fucking amazing PC for $1,000 my friend. You should wait for the new Radeon RX480 GPU to come out, and build using that. It's 200 bucks and is going to be one of the top on the market.

you can easily get a good pc for that especially if you get a second hand high end gpu

Who's this dapper gentleman?
>>
>>342729078
When does that come out?
>>
I got this for $300 pre built
i3-4130t
750ti
500gb hdd
Xbox 360 controller
Small form factor.

Why are you posting an image of a perfectly normal businessman?

Next month. I'm trying my hardest not to shill for AMD, but go out and read some the stuff about this, and you'll see why people are heralding it as the second coming of PC gaming.

That's my dad!

My personal opinion:
You're better off building $1,000.00 computer every three-five years than a $2,000.00 that'll last you slightly longer.
>>
I'm appreciating all this advice, it is a relief to know I don't have to commit fiscal suicide to migrate to PC.

i3
16gb of RAM (whatever's on sale brand)
RX480
650 watt PSU (whatever's on sale brand)
Some motherboard (whatever's on sale brand)

$800-$1000, higher end if you want to swap the i3 for an i5

Play the newest games being released at max settings at 120fps.

Not that tough.

Fuck yeah man.

He dropped the ball and threw it out of the yard a lot, but he's a great dad.

>RX480

I've never bought an AMD card, mainly a Nvidia user, I've got a 670GTX and it's starting to show it's age, what does the RX480 compare to?
>>
>>342728652
>$1200 budget
>can't afford the high end shit

You should be able to make a god tier rig with that. The $2000+ budget to build a pc is literally just a meme.

You can make a pretty good modern pc for like $800 easily.
>>
>>342730262

I'd do exactly this but swap out the i3 for a quadcore i5

Good PCs are alot more expensive than a PS4 but you can go alot farther with shit like emulation
>>
>>342728652
~$1000 for a good PC is pretty normal
Just don't buy the bleeding edge newest shit like a retard since it always costs 3x more than it should
>>
>>342727840
>elitist PC Master Race

Don't do it. Biggest mistake of my life. Mine is just collecting dust now.
>>
>>342732075
Is that to say you went back to playing console?

See, I'm especially autistic because I bought an Xbox One, and if everyone wasn't a PC Masterrace, they got a PS4
>>
Dude you can pay $600-$800 to make a PC that blows the current consoles out of the park. Anyone that tells you to pay more than that is a fucking dumbass. If you can purchase a LAUNCH PS3 for about that much then you have no excuse.
>>
Find some finished builds on Craig's list and haggle.
