When is this meme going to end? Many devs have demonstrated that the tracking works perfectly for the same tracking volume that 95% of Vive users actually use.

Having used Oculus DK1 a fair bit, this ghetto setup actually works out pretty well in comparison to that particular hardware - my phone's resolution is much higher than DK1 at least and screen door is barely noticeable. Like DK1 though, there's leaning tracking.
Downsides to it is that it uses your WiFi network so it will occasionally hitch, and dark environments degenerate into heavy compression artifacts. Also the cardboard is uncomfortable as fuck and light leaks in everywhere, which required me to modify it with lots of tape and bits of kitchen sponge.
Support is limited mostly to games which implement VR through modded mouselook though, like Skyrim or Minecraft.
