Which version of Dawn of War is the best one, in terms of gameplay and multiplayer balance?

The first hasn't aged well, dawn of war II still has great multiplayer. But if you've never played any of them, I'd start with the first because it is a classic nonetheless.

Most of my memories of DOW 1 are 'build huge army, attack+move enemy base, hope LESS than half get stuck behind the giant tank in a clusterfuck of awful pathfinding and spend rest of the battle topping up reinforce queues'

nah my good friend. whil i agree DC was the best expansion/game overall it was a mess balance wise. Necrons were horribly broken. Taus were also broken in early DC patches the range of regular troops (i forgot the name) was just insane
