I agree with you, but that's still no reason to but gaymen headphones.
Open headphones are the best way to go, they're good for vidya and for music.
Fidelio X2s are really good in that regard.

those kind of headphones are really just for home use. They're much more comfortable than those smaller on-ear headphones (never going to use those shits again) but too bulky for portable use. I have to settle with IEMs for anything else and you don't to carry a headphone amp for that.

Past $250 is the placebo/diminishing returns point of course, but otherwise I'd avoid wasting my time with cheap shit. I was surprised at how much more detail (easier to distinguish different sounds) I could hear off K702's compared to my cheaper 7506's. Although some people do say the soundstage in K702 is exaggerated so there's that too.

no, don't. I don't have time to explain right now but cheap joints and just get something better for $50 more

you'll easily find that line of ATH headphones for demo somewhere, just try it out compared to something a bit more expensive like the AKG K241 (whatever it was) or something, hopefully the place you demo it out is actually quiet or open headphones are just a disadvantage.

generally you're sacrificing quality in some area for a premium, there are high end headsets with mics similar to what you'd buy for a standing mic like the Sennheiser Game Zero but those are like $200

If you're gaming with friends just ask them what they use if their mic doesn't sound awful

Where the hell are you getting this from? They're $150 on Amazon right now and the Clouds are about $65.

>>342711047
Clouds are literally just rebranded Takstar Pro 80s with a mic. They're great budget headphones and you can probably get the Cloud cheaper than the original headphones. The mic itself is also pretty good quality for the price you're paying. It definitely beats the oft recommended zalman.

I'm using Senn HD800 + JDS Labs Objective2 Amp. I also have DNA Sonett 2 tube amp, but the O2 has pretty much replaced it, even though there's 1200 price difference between the amps. It's turn on and off instantly, there's no wait for tubes to warm up (tube amp have to wait 15 mins before use) and there's no tube noise either.

It's nothing to do DJ equipment or "heavier". The sound usually just is slightly smoother with 600 ohms http://graphs.headphone.com/graphCompare.php?graphType=0&graphID[]=953&graphID[]=2751&graphID[]=2141&graphID[]=2241&scale=10

Btw I have 990 600 Ohm, that bass boost is terrible , i prefer more natural sound of my 3 senn phones I have (even HD555, 650 and 800), but I imagine the 880 is prolly much better

buddy, there's a difference between "good" and "serviceable".

Earbuds will get the job done, but they won't do it near as good as some solid ear cans.

Like, an '86 chevelle will get you where you need to go, but it won't be close to driving in a bently

Damn this looks heavy as fuck.
I used to have a G35 headset. First the left year snapped clean off because the little plastic pivot point they've used couldn't handle the stress, then after about another month of work, after some improvised repairs, the other ear just stopped working entirely.
Never buying a "gaming" headset again.

I thought you were talking about a real surround sound speaker system. Which would cost several hundreds maybe thousands to get something of equal costs to the HD600 sound in headphones.

PS wireless headset. Solid build, no complains about audio, hidden built in mic. Full charge lasts for 6h I think.

Most importantly - they aren't expensive. Very practical set.

You're mixing model name with ohms though. Senns flagships have been 300 ohm , even those.

Beyerdynamic has some 600 ohm models which sound smoother than 32 or 250, but not all of them cost arm and leg, depends on the headphone and not so much the ohm value.

The ohm value is important because if I don't want to use the 5.1 optical conversion (sound lag, limited bit rate), my headphone jack is 600 ohm only with no switcher. If I use shitty headphones with it, even on the lowest possible volume it still makes your ears bleed.

That would be the impedance rating. It's basically the amount of power that's delivered to the headphones. My headphone jack is a max 97220 amp with is 600 ohm only. Way too much power for low impedance headphones.

good thing too, i pretty much have no use for a headset now, but the parts on their own are super useful for my non vidya hobbies.
