I really liked this game. Yeah, the combat is almost non-existant. But I liked all the talking and solving puzzles through text. Yeah, it's a VN, which is not a bad thing for me.

The reason I really liked this game is because it really feels like an alien world, with it's own rules, customs, people and places. It was a really great experience. I remember it fondly. I don't remember a game that made me feel curious about it's lore like this one. And this is coming from someone who doesn't like to read
>>
>>342696275
The gameplay might be garbage, but it's gameplay nontheless.

Don't even know why this game is praised by /v/, I'm sure it's alright but the setting is lame and stupid, I prefer the baldurs gate and neverwinter crpgs
>>
>>342703451

Because it has one of the best if not the best plot and dialogue ever laid out onto a videogame. Nobody who has actually played this game really cares about the setting THAT much other than it's kind of weird and it isn't a regular DnD world.

I personally think it's better than baldurs gate or neverwinter simply because if I wanted to play a fucking game of DnD i could and it would be a million times better than baldurs gate. Planescape is seriously well written for vidya is concerned. I mean its not a classic book that /lit/ will cum in their pants for, but it's damn good.

Maybe it can be compared to Watchmen. Something insanely well written and thought out for it's medium.

what can change the nature of a man, /v/?

>>

Woman I actual fuck when I'm tired of my girlfriends: your mom.
>>
>>342706613
This question still makes me think, i think that the thing that mostly does change the nature of a man is power; think about it, macbeth, that crooked cop from straya that killed some asian guy, any real tragedy is brought around by power presenting itself at the right opportunity
>>
>>342707051
I thought the most solid answer the game provided to that question was belief. Whatever you believe can change the nature of a man can.
>>
>>342696117
If you own a ps4, this toast is so sweetly ironic.
>>
>>342707582
That is an interesting proposal to the answer, because without belief, we wouldnt actually have a nature. Very interesting indeed. You have changed MY belief of the line. It is always fascinating to get a new look at things from a different POV!

Anything really, as long as it's big enough infuence on you
>>
>>342708287
When i first played the game i thought he was just pieces of flying green spaghetti in a vaguely humanoid arrangement, looking back after i saw him actually, the transcendent one is one of the coolest character designs in my opinion, sort of reminds me of shadow fiend from doturd in a fashion
>>
>>342708405
I picked power, i thought that was the only correct answer, didnt know that they were all correct first playthrough. Guess you learn something new everyday!
>>
>>342708405
i've chosen regret just because it was theme of the game i guess
>>
>>342708567
The important thing is that the question along with the answer are highly subjective, so there's no one ture answer, and none of the possible answers are marked as [Lie], so every answer is a valid point of view.
And in the end with the TO, NO says
>If there is anything I have learned in my travels across the Planes, it is that many things may change the nature of a man. Whether regret, or love, or revenge or fear - whatever you believe can change the nature of a man, can. I’ve seen belief move cities, make men stave off death, and turn an evil hag's heart half-circle. This entire Fortress has been constructed from belief. Belief damned a woman, whose heart clung to the hope that another loved her when he did not. Once, it made a man seek immortality and achieve it. And it has made a posturing spirit think it is something more than a part of me.
I think you need to regain all your past memories to get that option.

Yeah, at character creation just put all your points into wisdom and constitution, then the rest into intelligence. Keep raising constitution as much as you can. Once you get it really high you can regenerate your health faster than anything can damage you. Not even the true shadows at the end of the game can keep you down. The wisdom and intelligence are so you get all the good dialogue choices. Plus more XP not only from the wisdom multiplier but because those dialogue choices also give more XP than the lower tier ones.

What's wrong with modern games is that they dumbed down on difficulty for normies to beat the first map. The game should be engaging from beginning to finish, without getting too easy in the beginning or as you progress the character.

>You know what's a shitty overrated game? Bioshock. All of them.

This.

You take everything from System Shock 2, but water it down to the point where what was a strength in SS2 becomes a weakness. Freeroaming, but watered down so it no longer feels like exploration but needless padding. Variety of skills, weapons and gadgets -- but they're everywhere, everything feels overpowered and it's freely available so it ends up feeling like pointless clutter.

And then finally, you slap a whole bunch of pretentious nonsense in the mix and sell it as profundity. People are amazed because there's a plot twist, but not smart enough to ask why there was a plot twist and how it actually impacts the story.

I don't want to spit on Infinite because that game was so dumb even our dogs know it. I spit on the first game because there's a real danger of it becoming a "classic" when it's nothing but overrated fucking dumb lowest common denominator piece of shit.

I really just want a fantasy game that blows me the fuck away like Ps:T had done. I never played any ttrpgs before and Baldurs Gate was my only reference, system and setting-wise. But I was a huge fan of Zelazny and Niven at the time and had just read Moore's Swamp Thing. I finished the game in 4 days, missed a lot of schoolwork and sleep.

The game just plays on the strengths of an interactive medium so well. Its combat was pretty uneventful, and repetitive, but it was saved by the huge emotional involvement you had when facing characters like Ravel or Trias. I never wanted to find out more about a character than Nameless One. The entire setting's history and characters, beliefs and fears, you were somehow part of it all. And it never feels preachy or on the nose. The game made me feel bad for lying to people, it made me feel like an asshole for things that weren't even my fault (Dak'kon's story, for example). I never had the same level of emotional investment and immersion in a game. I hated the Player's maze so much and died like an idiot all the time in random fights and facepalmed so hard when I saw all those shadows waiting for me in the fortress. It's 'ultimate ending' is one of the most bittersweet moments I ever saw in any media.

Somehow, despite everything, the game delivered it's enormous promise(premise?). I just want to feel that way again, /v/. I don't want a new Planescape:Torment. We already have one of those. I want a game that I can point my non-gamer fiends to and say "play this, then you'll understand".
