My adaptor lets me use the thumbpad as the left stick. You need to do that to play games like Smash since you can't natively use the thumb pad to control the characters. I never heard of the Hori pad having that ability.

I use the gamepad so I can be at the computer when I play.
I really miss the octagon and it feels really bad when my down-bs are changed to face the other way because the stick was just ever so slightly to the side I'm not already facing. Or when I go to angle a up-b and end up doing a side-b and SDing.
