all it needs is a competent matchmaking system.
I still occasionally pop it in on my PS3 to dick around. its kinda amusing really since rockstar still has the servers up but pretty much entirely gave up on moderation. Modders are capitalizing like crazy on last gen. Instead of paying 5 bucks for a shitty 200,000k in game money shark card you can pay a modder that amount via pay pal and they'll do whatever the fuck you want. Need levels and cash? done.
But from what my friends are telling me the next gen version isn't even that much better. it still has terrible load times, terrible lobbies, and the servers are wonky as hell and go down all the time for no reason.
exploiting it to get rich and high level with friends was great times

I waited for days when the online first launched just to try it. Then I got to play it, found out no one wants to play anything, but instead chase you down and kill you, and you can't ragdoll online--so I stopped playing.
The online was boring.

Considering the AK works just as fine as the most advanced assault rifle, this isn't much of a problem unless you're a pedantic autist.

This was only ever a problem back in the day when missions dished out less than 15k a pop an deathmatches didn't serve a whopping sum of cash each time.

Let me guess, you're one of those people who starts 1 of 500 pre-made deathmatches and expects everyone in the lobby to drop what they're doing and join? You're supposed to go on your phone and select "Random Deathmatch" or "Random x" if you actually want to do shit. It sucks, but sometimes you do get lucky and someone joins the match you want to play.

Sometimes it kicks you out if someone dc's and it only gives you an option of 6 more missions to play, you're fucked if you don't want to do those

Even if you do go from one mission to the next, the loading times were really long. I gave it a pass because it's such a large game but it was annoying

Doesn't mean that other things weren't locked. Especially the armor cars and similar things, which were insanely powerful. Also car upgrades were locked which was no fun.

Don't get me wrong, I love GTA:O but it has some glaring issues. It wasn't a problem in the past but now that I have a full time job it's a lot harder to play due to the amount of time you have to set aside to play it. Worst issue is still

GTA IV PC had a brownser showing active sessions, how many players, what game mode, etc, so you could go straight to the type of game that you want to play.

Time to kill is significantly lower on the top tier ARs, especially at longer ranges. Not that anyone uses ARs, they all just spam RPGs and suicide to avoid the return fire.

That's because you're deliberately going into lobbies people will be in. Like I said, if you select "random deathmatch" on your phone it auto places you into a full lobby. Better than nothing

Honestly what I hated most about heists is getting an 8 year old on your team that couldn't read. You'd tell them "hey man go do your own objective" and they wouldn't listen, keep following you, and cause you to get discovered or they'd fuck it up.

The majority of /v/ are autistic retards that hates whatever is currently popular, they will never admit it.
I had a lot of fun with both single and online, playing with friends and with strangers.
Just stopped playing because I had other stuff to play but once in a while I get online again to play a few hours.
The only problem I have is that I can NEVER find any populated lobby that isnt Deathmatch, Heist or Race modes.
People only play that now or just stick to the free roam mode.
Tried to find a match of that new powerups mode that just released and couldnt find a single room to play, not even hosting one worked.
