What do you guys think of cheating in general?

>What do you guys think of cheating in general?

I don't see the point of it in multiplayer games. It's not fun for me to beat people just because I used a wall, aim, or trigger bot.
>>
>>342617176
Some stories I've read, people who go out of their way to buy multiple accounts and cheating software just like the idea of beating the shit out of people for a while before getting banned, only to switch accounts and keep going.
>>
Cheating in single player games? I don't see any problem with it because you aren't impacting anyone elses fun.

Cheating in multiplayer against other players? All you're doing is admitting you're both trash AND lazy. There's nothing more satisfying than watching a hacker get banned.

These people must be dead inside.

Cheated once, felt dumb, got banned, never again.
Of course, I didn't do it for the stats and kills, but rather to make satirical plays and a humorous environment for people in game and the friends I was playing with at the time - I wouldn't want to cheat just to get to the top of the scoreboard thats fucking autistic.

I guess if you want to see people salty?
>>
>>342617842
*shrug*

From what I understand, they see that as more "fun" than just regularly playing the game.

When I mention games, I am specifically talking broadly, like cheating in Battlefield 4, a game with -no competitive scene-
>>
Never did it. Seems kind of pointless to me.
>>
>>342616984
buy a radar hack. do better without it. Hacks are literally useless for me.
>>
>>342617994
Oh, they're having fun cheating? Well here's a guide for you.

>Adult
Has fun without trying to ruin the fun of others.

>Child/Teenager/Manchild
All that matters to him is whether he has fun. How other people feel doesn't matter.
>>
>>342616984
>What do you guys think of cheating in general?

in my experience (TF2), a lot of the cheaters are kids who do so in order to keep up with older, better players. The occasional Sniper cheater pops up because he wants to be a 1337 5n1p3r but sucks so he uses aimbot.
>>
>>342616984
>6 years ago, playing MW2
>start hosting matches where everyone could jump 30 feet in the air, and one kill gave you enough experience to go from level 1 to 70
>get banned
>that shit will stain my account forever
Feels bad.
>>
>>342618160
I don't agree with them bruh, I'm just throwing in what I've read/heard. Some of these stories came from people who make enough money from their 8-5 day jobs and just do it knowing the repercussions won't really affect them.
>>

Used to hack AvP2, swapping ammo types and all sorts of other shenanigans, killing people while locked in free fly, decapitating everyone in the server instantly with 1 swing of the knife. was always hilarious to watch dumb kids sperg out and cry, telling you they were calling the FBI if you didn't stop.

Good times.

>>
>>342616984
I don't ever see much point to cheating for anything other than convenience i.e. to skip a tedious, long, repetitive task such as Pokemon breeding.
Cheating to win doesn't feel like winning.
>>
>it was an INTENTIONAL decision
>>
Fuck the broken ass VAC system and fuck mw2 while i'm at it.
Stupid fucking game, bought it for 12€ and the same day got banned for playing with hackers without any choice, now i can't even play the god damn game
>>
>>342618571
AlterIW was some good shit mayne.

But the most fun I had in CoD was still with CoD4.

My friends and I being like 17 thinking we were so pro, owning the servers and getting kicked for "hacking" because the ofhers sucked.

There was this one server called The Fighting Irish, all of those guys were so bad despite playing it all day. We would play on there, get temp banned for a week or so, then returned to see how fast we could get banned again.
Good times

I never cheat in online games and I'll go one step further.

When I play any game for the first time, I don't even want people to give me advice. The most fun I have with games is coming up with strategies on my own. If I so happen to stumble upon the most OP shit that people were going to tell me anyways, I take pride in my ability to figure shit out and find the most optimal abilities in a game.

I have this mentality with card games as well. I always make my own decks in every trading card game that I play. People who netdeck in card games are pathetic.
>>
>>342618873
I wonder what that guy hoped to accomplish by writing that
even if its all 100% serious, even if he really wanted to get caught and what not the way its written it comes of like a childish attempt to go "I didn't care about that thing anyways"

>>
>>342619062
depends on the type of card game
plenty of games require some sort of successful deck in order to gain currency and then spend said currency to gain more cards
there's nothing wrong with netdecking to be able to get the more interesting cards efficiently given you're already playing at a major disadvantage
>>
>>342618898

Guess hardware serial numbers. There is only one CPU with that one serial number in existence, so if they see that somebody hacked on a computer using that CPU they will ban the person using it.

So if they want to cheat they will have to buy a new motherboard and shit.
>>
>>342619895
No clue maybe it flags something hardware related like the motherboard? people try using new ip's and all that and they still end up banned, I remember reading a forum post that a guy used brand new hard drives and still ended up banned within a day

>>

>>
>>342619895
I don't think they care. It is a tactic. They (maybe unjustly) ban a ton of people, word gets out, makes people afraid to cheat, cheating stops. The whole thing is a deterrent tactic. They are willing to break a few eggs to make an omelette, since the precious "esports" dollars are at stake. Just be thankful that for once Activision's jewery is aligned with the best interest of the player base
>>
>>342620406
I'd imagine they look at the IP range too. If they see the computer is being used on an entirely new ISP or something I think the person would be fine.

High risk high reward. If you play a video game without cheat you're just wasting your time on a skinnerbox. By cheating, you are playing on a level that's a step above the other plebs. There's more adrenaline and reward to it. Non-cheaters are either too stupid to cheat and don't know where to find hacks or they're just too pussy to risk anything and try to justify it on muh morals muh git gud

I do not give a shit what people do in singleplayer. A lot of times people shit for QoL reasons. Like using a trainer for SFV survival mode? Yeah, go ahead. That's bullshit anyways. If you want to fly around and never lose in other games, more power to you.

But I do not condone it in multiplayer games. Occasionally you'll see someone using cheats in a funny way or to actually try and enhance the other players' experience, but that's like a drop of fresh water in an ocean of baby piss. The most pathetic of all are cheaters in competitive games. Why even use cheats in a fighting game vs somebody else?

Cheating is okay if it's singleplayer. You're robbing yourself of the proper experience though, but you're not ruining anyone's fun but your own, so that's fine.

Cheating for multiplayer is unacceptable. You deserve to be permanently banned and given one single chance to appeal the ban, but if you fail, perma banned forever.

Hacked items were pretty rare. It was more about botted runes. Almost every high rune circulating bnet was botted.
>>
>>342624998
So the blizzard example is that hackers have reported to be immediately banned even when creating a new account with a new computer, email, credit card, etc.
False positives have also been reported. People are being banned for "hacking" when they haven't done anything of the sort. The community is behind the customer, until blizzard just goes "b-but you hacked on a previous account" and the redditors here turn into corporate shills.

in single player I try to beat a game in normal mode no cheating first off. After that it depends. I usually try to ramp up the difficulty but I may do some cheating like max $ to minimize tedious grinding.for me, I hate when I go to a new town in an RPG but can't afford shit. yes, sometimes you find the same items or better in the next dungeon, but, I love that feel of walking into a new town and getting full new sets of gear for all my characters.
>>
How does everyone here view using Cheat Engine after you've beaten a game to dick around as a psuedo-debug mode? Like how in games back in the day you beat the game once or twice and it enabled Cheat Mode to do crazy shit or just to noclip out of maps and find all kinds of the hidden shit and cut-for-time stuff that was still on the cart/disc? Cause that's the kind of shit I use it for, pretty much only in single player games.

This is why I don't play multiplayer games, honestly.

Like, I understand WHY you need to ban cheaters, because it's unfair to others and ruins their experience

EULA's aren't legally binding and we all know it, shrink wrap agreements are almost never honored by courts, especially on products you can't easily refund.

But that's neither here nor there; even if a dev wouldn't ban me for cheating (or for fucking around doing stupid bullshit all match instead of playing properly) it would potentially ruin the game for other players and I don't want to do that.

So I only play SP games (or occasionally local/private games) so I can have fun how I see fit.
>>
>>342628067
I understand this sentiment but at the same time that's what private servers are for.

Cheating in video games is so fucking dumb.

>Hahaha! Look guys! I "beat" the game! I got to the top because I think outside the box! Why waste time getting good at games when their is a more efficient alternative? Haha!

Cheating in video games just highlights how fucked up that person's priorities in life actually are. Video games are a waste of time, it's entertainment. Unlike cheating in stuff like gambling or sports you have absolutely nothing to gain out of it if you succeed.

You won't get money or glory, nobody cares that you won in a video game. All you've done is ruin everybody else's time.

If you're gonna cheat, cheat in something worthwhile.

That's a sensible position Anon, but I'd like to add that at least the clause of "don't cheat or you get kicked" for multiplayer games IS legally binding when it comes to enforcing the server team's right to restrict you access to the product.

For single player games it's far more murky though, the sort of thing you'd have at least a basic case to stand up in court with, at least in SOME legal systems.

>You're robbing yourself of the proper experience though

I disagree. Sometimes the proper experience isn't fun, when the game requires you to do the same thing many times. For instance, I cheated to give myself enough money in Way of the Samurai 4 to get a good sword, something that takes 10-15 hours of gameplay otherwise. Without that sword, every other part of the game takes 3-4 times as long, if doable at all. And sure, I could experience it the proper way, but literally the only difference is how many times I walk down the same path, how many times I have to swing my sword at a random dude that has no bearing on the plot, and how many times I have to talk to the same people over and over.

Amazing game overrun with toxic meme trollers, cheaters are common (most you won't even notice), look for VAC bans on profiles (they appear even if private). People with multiple accounts are common, devs are now going to block multiple accounts from the same IP if they one was banned via RUST.
