That's what the flask thing is, it's a Fiio Q1 portable amp. I even have to enable the gain switch and crank up the volume to nearly max because even amped the volume is way too fucking low.
The thing can reach a really deafening volume either as a PC DAC or paired with my Fiio X3ii but with the 3DS it just can't.
How is Grand Kingdom? Worth $40 or wait for it to drop? I've been dying for a somewhat complex srpg and this looks pretty good, gameplay-wise.

It's the only portable amp I've tried, but it does a great job. I'm sure there's better stuff as this is 80 USD entry level, but for the price it works great. Also doubles as a PC dac or can work with cellphones.

Yes, all DS and 3DS software works on the New 3DS. The New 3DS does run some games faster and can load higher-res textures in things like MH, but it only has one exclusive game which is a Xenoblade port.

If you have a hacked PSP you should try Grand Knights History. There's a translation patch available. That should at least give you a taste of the mechanics that Grand Kingdom is built on.
The combat system is very neat, very compelling. Actions are based on points shared between members and positioning is important. Reminds me of Radiant Historia in that even random battles are pretty involved but not tedious. The overall presentation in GKH is delicious and pressing buttons feels good. I actually prefer the character art to Grand Kingdom's.
With GKH, though, you won't get the mass PvP, which is like half the game. If you want to get into War mode it might be wise to jump in while it's active, and while most folks aren't demigods yet.

Honestly the SP is probably the better buy, I picked up a micro in Japan and found it isn't region locked and mainly use it to play fire emblem games. The backlight it has is really nice and it has awkward positioning with your hands. I still thoroughly enjoy it but compared to the sp it's meh.

I've tried to "go" portable recently solely because I'm sick of myself and I need to get out and see the world more. So my dumbass brain decided to get a laptop, not a too expensive one but I still bought one. I used it maybe 3-4 times ever and it's been collecting dust since the first week.
I already own a 3DS but I haven't touched it since I got and got bored of ACNL (or was it Pokemon XY? Can't remember).
Sitting by my computer makes me miserable, I have no friends neither online or IRL, I live with family members who share none of my interests or ideals and we can't stand each other, and my job is garbage and pays far below average so I have no options to do anything about it.
