For some reason it never really makes me feel anything, beside "Oh, well that was a close one." Unless it's turn based and you can't really do anything but try and take the hit, not knowing if you'll survive or not.

Honestly I don't have a problem with other people using greatshields because I always feel like I am going to die when using them. I honestly don't understand how to properly play with them. Also parrying is too fun for me.

All games should have a kind of 1-hit kill protection. So if you have more than 30% of your HP left and an attack was to 1-hit you, you're left with 1HP instead
