HOLD UP

What video card you got? How's it holding up?
>>
>>342601049
gtx 950, 30fps in most games if you wanna run at 1080p, but i prefer to lower the res in favour of fps
>>
>>342601049
960 4gb. Surprisingly well, it runs alot of games at neat ultra settings while needing just a few things turned down to Medium depending on the game.

I'll be upgrading when the next generation of cards comes out, I don't see a reason to go for the 1000 line when this is doing well as it is.

basically a riced-up gtx 970 from EVGA, replaced my 560 TI 4 months ago

its been great so far but im afraid i fell for the meme cause id didnt wanna wait for (what ended up being) 1080 or whatever it is
>>
770. I wont upgrade
>>
>>342601049
How much more angular will these cards get?
>>
>>342601049
gtx 760

still good for 1080p gaming, I laugh at the people who got jewed by nvidia with the 9xx series
>>
560ti

Living la vida loca as I lived it back then with my 5200LE
>>
>>342601049
sapphire r9 390 nitro

Got it as stop gap card for 1440p monitor before this gen, not going to upgrade at least until vega or 1080ti. Surprisingly great card.
>>
RX 470 i have reviewer copy. Its pretty gut at 1080p . I played RoTR and MKX . Holds 60fps/1080p stable.
>>
>>342601983
A 40% jump in performance was pretty decent and they were pretty upfront with how quickly they'd release their next cards after that.
A lot of people were jumping from fermi era cards to maxwell, or at least the not stupid ones were.
>>
>>342601049
9800gtx+, it's holding up pretty great considering that so far there's about 3 games that I want to play but can't (The Witcher 3, gta V and arma 3), everything else Im interested in is either playable on 1080p@30fps at least or not released yet.

This year the count of desired games will probably go up to 6, and if it turns out to be true I'll finally release the 9800gtx from its duties, such a fantastic card.
>>
>>342601049
GTX 770. Runs most games pretty well, framerates only an issue on very demanding games.

Probably gonna upgrade to the 1000 series if I can get a decent deal. 900 wasn't enough of a jump up for the price.
>>
>>342602239
>9800 GTX

>1080p

it cant even run windows 10 at 1080p

i had that card what like 12 years ago?
>>
>>342601049
980ti
it's holding up pretty well, might have to upgrade to the 1080 though
>>
I just went from a GTX 780 to SLI'd GTX 1080's

I'm not sure why I bothered, there's nothing for me to stress them with. I've been playing XIV at 144 hz which is super nice though. It's a bit hard going back to 60 fps now

I do have a vive though, and even one 180 was a great performance boost
>>
GTX 780. Holding up pretty damn great aside from the absolutely shit drivers. I'll probably try AMD when I want an upgrade
>>
>>342601049

560ti. Hoping to board the 1080 or 2xRX480 hype train depending on independent reviews (I need a shit load of monitors for my work, so 2xRX480 is the more tempting option)
>>
>>342602319
It's only 8 years old and any card with 512mb of vram can display 1080p. I have a 256mb card and it can just barely manage 1050p
>>
I would upgrade if I could, but my 270x is kicking ass. I can play Dark Souls 3/Fallout 4 no problem on near-max settings, which surprised me.
>>
>>342602239

Holy crap dude, and I thought I was roughing it with a 1GB HD 6870.
>>
>>342601049
Still on an old GTX 660, holding up shockingly well. BF4 stays at 60-80fps at near-max settings.

Still going to go for a 1070 once prices stabilize.
>>
XFX gtx 260+ nigger edition. Bought 330 eurobucks at lauch.

Not a single issue in the past 7 years. But I just can't run recent games at all.
>>
EVGA GTX 780ti is what I've been using for about the last 2 years. Holds up pretty well and I'm probably going to keep it for some time still.
>>
>>342602471

Does crossfire support multiple monitors? Because SLI sure as fuck doesn't

I had no clue and was extremely pissed off my first go at SLI'ing cards. I'd never heard it mentioned before
>>
970m, holding up very well. Runs Division, and GTA V on high 60fps.

I just moved across country and couldn't take my whole desktop with me. Military. I5-3570K, GTX 670 2GB x2. I brought the CPU, gpu and ram. I'm gonna rebuild it as a micro-arc build in the thermaltake v21 with a 980ti.

Can anyone recommend an ultra wide monitor, there is an LG on Amazon right now for US$180
>>
Radeon HD 5870
Heats up to 100c and is on the way out.
Waiting 29th of this month.
>>
>>342602319
I don't know about windows 10, but it can definitely run shit at 1080p, at least in games I'm playing. I have no reason to lie on an anonymous message board.
>>
GTX1080. Pretty great so far. Was a massive upgrade from my 660. I can actually play games on ultra and not have to play around with the settings anymore.

At first I thought the card got too hot during some games, but it turns out it was just the heat from this weather. Probably wasn't a good idea to install it and test temps on a 90 degree day.
>>
270x, I really have no reason to upgrade desu (1080p) but I want to upgrade to a RX 480 if I can afford it

Yes you are dumb for getting a 970 this late in it's life.

Still I fucking love my 970, perfect sweetspot for 1080p 60hz.
>>

I was rather interested in getting a hold of a tesla era card to see if they can "run" modern games i.e. at least get them going since shit like a gt710 can and it's far slower than a 8800 or 9800
I've seen some youtube videos but I dont know how legit they are

it has a pretty steep curve to hit 60fps 4k on witcher 3 max settings. The difference required is astronomical to get that extra 15 fps. There have been reports of 2 titan x's running sli cannot hit constant 60. Though I do think dual 1080s would. I'm just not willing to fork over that much money for literally a 15fps difference when all other modern games like DSIII run around 50+fps 4k max settings.

I can't complain too much, it gets hot as fuck though. There was also an issue with the paste that was causing thermal throttling until I replaced it.
1080p performance is spot on, 2560x1440 not so much with the like of Metro and TW3 unless toning down the graphics a bit (on the plus side, AA is pretty much superfluous at 2k).

Thinking about jumping on a 480 or waiting for the Polaris cards to come out and grabbing another 280x to crossfire when the price drops.

I could run absolutely everything at 60fps on at least medium settings until DOOM came along

I set everything except render resolution to it's lowest and I can only get 60fps on the first few levels. After that it's 60 in smaller areas and down to 30 in larger ones with lots of enemies.

I had a GTX590 since 2011. There was a recent Windows update or something that causes my computer to no longer recognize or use the card? I dunno, it sees the card in the device manager but has a Code 43 error and nothing I do seems to fix the problem (including uninstalling card, installing new drivers, removing old drivers, waiting for another Windows update to fix the problem).

I've had many MANY problems with the card itself. I'm finally ordering a new card, a GTX960, which seems like a good price and I can probably see a boost in performance. I could play most games with medium/high settings previously, this one looks like it can do the same without overheating and killing the card (which happened whenever I played GTA5).

Good thing I know next to nothing about cards, because there better not be a permanent problem with my computer that it won't like the new card! Oh boy!

tl;dr GTX590 fucked up, hoping GTX960 doesn't have any problems when I install it.

>>
>>342604785
I have a 970. If you're gaming at 1080p resolution, I don't believe there's a reason to upgrade to this new generation unless you're gaming at 4k or doing VR. I'm getting a solid 60 to 90 frames per second on all graphics intensive games, and on less intensive games I'm getting 120, which maxes my monitor's refresh. I don't see any games that push the limits graphically in the works either.

If there's a new card that gives a 50% performance boost for ~$250 I'd probably buy it, but that's probably not going to happen with the upcoming 1070, I'll have to wait until the 1170.

R9 390. It freezes seconds into starting up a game. There's like a 20% chance I can play a game no problems.

Since I only play at 1080 and will be joining the navy in November, I'm going to wait until the next generation.

I think this is a load of bullshit desu. I've yet to see any concrete evidence of any gimping going on. I might go AMD this time around though, I don't know. Even if what you're saying is true AMD has its own share of issues that make me hesitant.

cba to open it but

>modded extra lod
>modded extra shadows
>second highest foliage setting (so not maxed)
>everything else pretty much maxed, no hairworks AA, 1920x1200

would run fine without hairworks, but I like it, so it does dip often under 60.

After Maxwell, Nvidia used TWIMTBP to push stupid levels of tessellation into new games in a way that fucked not only AMD users but Kepler and Fermi owners hardcore.

this:
>>342614768
may not really apply to consumer Pascal cards though, since they really just seem like shrunk Maxwell with DP 1.3/1.4 and the VR multi-port geometry thing added.

Volta (2018?) has been the long promised architecture overhaul that will probably add new special acceleration units that will enable HairWorks 2.0 jewing.
>>
>>342615236
Black Ops 3 (which is a bad port but regardless) uses more than 4GB of vram maxed out at 1080p. A few other games do too, like GTAV I think. It's not affecting every game but it does for some.

>>342616121
I know the story, but like I said, I haven't seen any good evidence of this actually being the case. A lot of it is very obviously people misunderstanding shit. And the same people that claim this list off a bunch of games that aren't even Gameworks games as having the issues.

GTX 1080

Had a 980 Ti before, decided to sell it right before the 1080 was announced and more or less spent less then $100 on the 1080. Pretty damn great so far, 1440p at 144Hz in the majority of games has been excellent all around. Only downside is newer games are hit and miss on my UHD TV when it comes to framerate maxed out.

Just went from an R9 270 to GTX 970. Took a FX 8320 into an i5 6500 upgrade too, and crappy DDR3 ram into 8GB of DDR4. 80 FPS in most games on ultra with shadows in low-end (shadows annoy me) 60-70 shadows on. Honestly, most games nowadays tend to go more on the GPU side then CPU, and the 2300 can still play a lot of stuff at 1080p just fine.

It probably won't be a consistent 60, and will probably drop to 40-50 FPS in some of the towns, but Fallout 4 has some weird issues anyway even on the strongest hardware.

It still runs everything I throw at it perfectly.

Unfortunately, a few 'online' games were causing my GPU drivers to crash constantly and the only way to fix it was to underclock it 100mhz, but even at that it is still fine until the 1080ti.

The 1060's likely gonna be as fast as the 980 or 970, considering the 1070's faster than the Titan X.

A 1070 would be a gigantic leap from a 660 Ti, but the prices are still fucked. 970s aren't worth their prices anymore, especially now that AMD's releasing a GTX 980 equivalent for $200 in like 5 days.

Zotac GeForce GTX 980ti AMP! Extreme Edition

Runs Witcher 3 on Ultimate at ~55 fps, so pretty good I suppose

Are you clinically retarded?

>>342601049
Got a 280x. It's struggling with demanding games at 1080p. Gonna upgrade to a 490/490x when they come out eventually
>>
>>342638234
Because anyone who says it never drops down to the 50's on a 2k HD monitor on Ultimate with Hairworks at Max is a goddamn liar

You would know otherwise because you have a 980ti as well? Or are you just talking out of your ass again
>>
>>342617913
Same here. Debating if I should get a 1070 but will probably just get a 480.
>>
r9 390. waiting for rx490
>>
>>342638456
Mine doesn't ever dip below 60. Then again I'm running 1.5 GHz
>>
>>342601878
I'm hoping the 1070 will be the new 770. Mine runs like a fucking champ.
>>
>>342601049
Had a 280x, ran everything at 1080p really well. Getting a 470 because it'll be cooler and allow me to hit 60FPS in the TW3
>>
>>342601049
1070 because i don't have need for 4k
finally upgraded after 4 fucking years till then i was using a 6850HD
Feels great i'am now finishing GTAV on full HD on max setting and can finally play DS3 (before all on low lowest res i had like 20 fps TOP

R9 390

It's cool, quiet and runs all the games I play at max. I'm not going to upgrade for a while.
>>
>>342603163
1080, you bought a shitty underpowered card m8
>>
Thinking of getting EVGA 1070 but prices seem to be rising

They will get cheaper right?
>>
>>342638604
>no stability issues at 1,500 MHz

You better not be talking about core clock
>>
>>342621757

If you played modern games you would not be getting 30 fps maxed out at 1080.
>>
>>342639156
I'm talking about core clock, zero stability issues. My cards ASIC is %85.
>>
>>342601049
GTX560 & HD5670
560 almost never goes over 10% so I just stick to radeon.
>>
>>342639036
What NZXT case is that? It looks nice
>>
HD7850
Still holds up but is definitely showing its age, looking forward to a 480 soon
>>
980ti Classified

It's pretty damn good for what I use it for (ie. Dark Souls and emulation). Sure beats intel integrated hd 4600.

I had one, can confirm you're an idiot. TW3 is the only game it's not enough for

Excellent plan, probably the next die shrink.

RX480 or RX470

>>342632532
Yep, time to upgrade for more VRAM

>>342632060
Benchmarks are already leaked, 100+ FPS in Doom
>>
Just got the 380 a couple months ago and am very satisfied so far. Although them announcing the 480 shortly after I got it makes me sad knowing I could have gotten a much better GPU for the same price. /v/ warned me not to buy a new GPU but I badly wanted to play dark souls 3 and my 550 ti couldn't run it.
>>
I'm a poorfag and I have a shitty card, what would be a good cheap upgrade if I have a geforce 210 and want to be able to run dx11 games
>>
I currently have an R9 280. It's a decent card, can run most games at respectable settings at 1080p60fps.

I ordered a GTX 1070 though. Going to get a 1440p monitor at some point to go along with it.

MSI R9 390, absolutely fantastic card. Got a 4k Freesync display for work but I mostly play games in 1440p with it. Don't plan on placing it until Vega comes out.
>>
>>342621757
No way your getting performance that good in the Witcher 3 or Crysis 3 at max settings 1080P

The GTX480 was fast but the level complexity has increased a lot since then. The GTX560Ti isn't even capable of playing some of the newer titles at medium 1080P

My HD6970 began to struggle once the effect complexity increased in recent titles. I can still play a shocking amount of games with good image quality but there are now games where the frame rate drops are just too high without butchering the quality
>>
Got a gtx 770 pretty good but going to be getting the rx 480 since no matter what it will be an upgrade so I can play DOOM and TW:Warhammer on higher settings
>>
>>342640583
NH-D14 is the best CPU cooler ever made. Great PC
>>
>>342640692
The 8GBs of vram is going to be very useful for running console ports with higher IQ. Consoles won't be able to use all 8GBs with their GPUs so the 8GBs will give you extra room for sharper textures
>>
>>342640223
You'll be fine for a long time if you got the 4GB version, otherwise sell that shit now and take the loss.

>>
>>342640692
Since GCN is so well supported performance right off the bat in new releases should be better than they have been in the past.

AMD is excellent for the money just don't buy new releases expecting perfection on day 1. My HD6970 let me max out my entire backlog. Loved that GPU. I felt AMD gave me my money's worth at $280 at launch
>>
Spoonfeed me about CPU bottlenecking. I've got plans to get a 1080, but I still have the i5-2500k overclocked to 4GhZ. Can I or can I not max out setting in 1440p games?

>>
>>342625110
Honestly that PC is still great. Find an i7 970 if your motherboard supports it. Get new DDR3 and a cheap SSD instead

You'll get a better experience and and you can let your motherboard take a rest since you will no longer have to overclock for higher clock speeds

290X. It's fine. I get ~100-120FPS in DOOM 2016 on Ultra. I basically can run anything on Ultra or High and 60FPS.

Witcher 3 was a bitch, I had to disable Hairworks and lower foliage density to High, and even then I had drops to 55FPS.
>>

980 TI.
Holding up very well, unfortunately however it's not the amazing leap in performance I had when I switched from my 7970 to the 780 TI.
It's definitely better. It's definitely *enough* for sure. To the place where there's no fucking point in getting the 1080.
>>
>>342607623
I'm playing the demo right now at mostly high settings with no problems and I have a gtx 770 2gb

I've noticed a large jump in performance after performing a clean installation to the newest drivers
>>
>>342643304
Ooo. So that means I'd see a major leap going from a 7970 to a RX 480 or a GTX 1070 then.
>>
I have an HD 7990 so everything seems alright for now.
>>
>>342602239
Dude...
It's time to upgrade man I'm sorry. Sure it's better than something pitiful like...a 220 but still.

Yes.
Yes you will. At least to the point where you can bump up your resolution a bit or graphics settings a couple notches and still get better performance.

Not as poorly as you might imagine. Waiting for 1080Ti and Fury X Episode II, gonna get whichever one wins.

GTX 650. I can't upgrade any further because I'm on a prebuilt home PC, and HP never updated the motherboard to support UEFI. Never again.

It'll hold me over until I can save enough to build a new PC.
