Symmetra is insanely good if you know how to play her well. If you can flank grouped up enemies that are focused on someone else she can melt them in seconds. Her gun is one of the only things that pierces shields. Her teleporter is the best support ult. Only thing that could even be better about her is if her shield ability was a bit stronger.
Because in pretty much every conceivable scenario you could be more useful as someone else. Sure, she can do good, and that's great, but she's just not as good at is as the others.

First you should never be away from the chokepoint as symmetra
If you are at the chokepoint then you will have other people covering you so if that Rein drops his shield to attack you he is dead.
Now if a winston jumps over the chokepoint you should have turrets to either hit him while he attacks you or distract him while your gun charges up. A fully charged beam will melt a winston from full health in about the same or less time than he will kill you depending on how much your gun has charged up before he focuses you.
The only one I will agree with is roadhog but he is the counter to all squishies.

I play her, mercy or phara depending on what the group needs and defend or attacking. I use her on defence if someone else is healing. Almost 100% of the time I get the most kills. She is all about how you place your turrets and how you flank. If you suck at doing that then the class will seem terrible to you.

What you're describing is very specific circumstances. Yes, if you have at least one other teammate that has damage capability, you'll probably win when Rein drops his shield. That isn't always the case and people often ignore Reinhardt to try to pick off the people behind him once he drops his shield.
As for Winston, you're straight wrong. His lightning clears a room of turrets in 0.5 seconds and then it's hot monkey dick all for you. He's got armor too so for the first few moments while your beam is warming up, you're doing fuck-all, and by the time you're at max DPS he's just about killed you, though you've hurt him a good bit.

Well Symmetra is used more in competitive than most of the characters people here complain about (Mei, Bastion, Tjorborn) so yeah shes pretty good
But shes even more reliant on her team than healers are. You do very little long range damage, your sentries are mainly to slow down people for your team to kill, and your teleport is basically useless if your team does nothing once on the point.

I like playing Symmetra on defense. She's really fun because of where you put your turrets. I get random kills from that every so often when I'm just fucking around in the map.

The bridge the payload goes under on the way to the second checkpoint.
You can place turrets in a gap between the bridge and the building so your turrets are inside the bridge making them impossible to hit and they make that tight turn a death trap. Stay on the side with the turrets and get beamed, stay on the other side and get slaughtered by 6 defenders. You gotta wipe them out and push as their respawning to get passed that hellish checkpoint assuming someone is symettra cheesing. Also they can laser anyone on top of the bridge shutting that area down too. Its some insane area denial in a place the team absolutely has to go.

This. 25 shield to teammates is a lot stronger than people think, and as long as you don't wipe on the first wave and aren't a shitter that can't build ult in that time, she's one of the single strongest picks on first point Defense for Volskaya, Anubis, and a few other maps.

Symmetra isn't bad, but you need to know all the maps in and out first before playing as her, and then pray the other team doesn't have a competent reinhardt run into your beams.
Her armor is surprisingly useful, teleport is ALWAYS good, and her gun makes toast out of anybody if you can dance around them long enough.
She's surprisingly fun to play on offense too, baiting people to rooms or making turrets before you get attacked.

The guy running the twitter did not design Pharah. He may not even have worked on the game. Blizz's official stance may be that Pharah is not an amputee but the character artist drew her in a way that no other option is possible. Just like Blizz's official stance may be that Winston is a gay giraffe but the character artist clearly designed a gorilla.

Something similar happened to me last night.
It was Nepal the stage with the small shrine in the middle. It was a back and forth game and both teams were on overtime. I was playing symmetra and placed a teleporter near the center. There was a four man wipe leaving me and a mechless D.VA. She died and I died shortly thereafter. Then the dead four teammates came and cleaned up the rest winning the game.
Then a soldier was like "How did we win that?" In all chat I said "It was my teleporter. " "Nah dude symmetra is garbage. " Then four the enemy team said it was the teleporter.
