My friend let me play it for free because we were account sharing but I really couldn't fucking stand the voice acting. That, and the fact that it crashed for me right at the beginning of the game and that I got fucked on a save file that had me instantly dying to a grenade everytime it loaded

Bought it fully expecting to need to mod it to shit to really enjoy it. I've gotten my $60 worth desu. The mod community has done some great stuff, even before the official mod tools came out.
Survival has been great with a few tweaks. With the weapon mods I have, most firefights involving anything stronger than pipe guns end with one or two hits, so getting the drop on enemies is absolutely necessary. Chems have also become pretty important, jet is a huge help when you have to breach a room

The game's narrative blows and the disconnect between your main character's motivation and what the game pushes you to do is jarring and destroys even a generous suspension of disbelief, but there's a lot of buzzword to be had operating through a building and gathering scrap to build up your homebase.
I'd still like to find whomever was in charge of writing the fridge kid quest and slap the piss out of them though.

Every faction that isn't the institute wants to blow it up for some fucking reason. Why? I cannot think of a reason to blow it up, at all. It's such a treasure trove of technology that no amount of lives lost in capturing it would make it not worth it.

And I agree back, though I'd personally say 3 was the weakest of the series, and 2 would just slightly edge out 1 for the best, with NV close behind.
Sadly, we're never gonna see big studios doing stuff like the original two again. There's just no market.
Thankfully games like Wasteland 2 and that Underrail game I need to get around to playing show that the spirit is still out there.
