Yeah the attention to detail in just the demo is getting me really excited for the game.

Unfortunately the boss fight looked like a fan creation, which it likely was. Colours were not harmonious, had a demon horn and ridiculous tits.

Hopefully there isn't a shit load of crap like this in the game but other than that it has absoultey massive potential with another whole year of development.

Miriam

Just finished the demo and not sure how to feel

On one hand, it's got everything that I love about the IGA produced castlevanias, it feels good to play, it has fun secrets and collectibles and exploration to do, combat feels right

but on the other hand, it's entirely unimpressive. It's certainly up to snuff but it doesn't do anything that hasn't been done before. It's very safe, and even though it's only a demo and there is still plenty of time for more to be developed, the fact that they wanted to develop a new entry to the genre without having anything to separate it from the rest of the entries is the series is a little discouraging. Even if they add a standout mechanic later down the line, the fact that they haven't had it in mind from the start makes it quite clear that they wanted the money more than to make a great game.

Fingers crossed that this isn't the bottomline for the game, because if it is, it's going to be a middling experience when the genre has been innovating for quite a while since the last castlevania (hell, even Mirror of Fate innovated more than what we've seen of Bloodstained)

Inafune was never a game designer and still isn't, he was always just the businessman who made things happen. He had his place then, as he was pretty much the one guy making sure Mega Man kept happening, as seen with literally everything Mega Man being canned after his leave. The issue is little to none of the greats from Capcom who made Mega Man great or ensured its quality are at Comcept, let alone the platformer Mega Man games, and Inafune did nothing to ensure the prior quality himself because he was more concerned with the business side trying to make some sort of media giant that was never to be.

IGA as a producer actually takes a standpoint as part of the design and made sure a product was good. And that continues.

The greatest games have been made because the creators had something they wanted to do that hadn't been done before. Even every castlevania feels unique, you can tell immediately which one you are playing whether it's 3 or HoD or OOE.

But this is so disparaging, like, "we want to make a buck first and then maybe we'll try something different but that's only if this gets us a lot of dough." It's the same mindset that conman has, and while I don't want to say that this'll be a failure or shit (what we have now is entirely servicable and if it released as it is now just with all the content it was going to have, I'd be fine with it, it just wouldn't be anywhere close to the top of the pack) and I'm not going to say that it's sickening that they think like this, but it's still kind of disheartening that they think they can come out with the same ol' and expect it to blow us away

They planned for way more than they could handle with the stretch goal hype, they tried to play on people's emotions too much and appeal to everyone to get as far as they could and it bit them in the ass.

Then they had the bright idea of putting amateurs in the most important roles, like the director no one ever hears from who had some minor design role in Star Force 2, 3, and Operate Shooting Star and that's it. People who had no experience in 2D platformers/action games, the experienced developers on the team didn't have as big of a role as you would've expected and mostly haven't done much of anything in years. I think it was Inafune's idea in the first place to have new people to try to push a "new" kind of Mega Man style game but to put your hopes on that working was risky and stupid with all the other problems they were making for themselves.

The anime and all the extra shit probably have nothing to do with the quality really, there were signs since the beginning that it would turn out bad but they were riding the hate for Capcom so hard that no one would've noticed. It's basically all Comcept's fault, meanwhile Bloodstained is Iga working directly with Inti Creates and they're doing a way better job. They know what people want and they're simply delivering that without any extra bullshit.
