Castlevania is the typical answer to a growing porblem in the genre wherein the player is faced with numerous odds and ends with nothing to achieve. Given that the formula is tried and true with tons of content yielded to the player upon exploration, the answer is more than convenient, it's generous. Although many of the iterations in the series are less than favorable, it's regarded still, as a quality series which should not be overlooked.

Lords of Shadow isn't nearly as bad as some of those games mentioned, though. I know you're eager to use it as a scapegoat for the demise of Castlevania, but the first game was merely decent but unoriginal. It's arguably better than either of the PS2 games.
