I've only seen the tons of negative reviews on both Baldur's Gate games, who say they were great fans of the old one, and loved when the Enchanted Editions came out, and indeed they usually have around 100 hours game record in it.

The only thing positive I can say about my experience is that you can up the difficulty and force yourself to try min-maxing in the most pointless way possible to take on the unique high level enemies. I put 20 hours into it over 2 playthroughs. Its got enough difficulty levels to appeal to anyone, especially since S-ranking a boss gets you things like permanent stat boosts, extremely rare upgrade materials and other bonuses.
Choice of character is also a factor. First playthrough was on normal with an easier character, and I really only had trouble with the first two bosses until I got the hang of things, slaughtered the midgame bosses no problem, and had trouble with endgame bosses. The other character (hard difficulty) had a reasonable early time if it, ate shit midgame, and then was godlike against the endgame bosses.
There are four characters and five difficulties, but you can beat the game on easy in a handful of hours. Great replayability since each character has extremely distinct styles, weapon unlocks, and interactions with other characters.

No, the multiplication factor plays a very small role. You get upgrades by finding hidden gold in all stages. The way you get better scores is collecting gears that enemy drops everytime you kill them, and you can absorb them so you don't really have to pay attention to them at all, just kill them and don't mind because you will earn them eventually

EE plays like an autistic kid tried to update his favorite cRPG into modern times. Pretty much the only reason to buy it over the original is to get the multiplayer to work. Then you'll discover that playing that game multiplayer will make you rip your fucking hair out. Beamdog did add some silly content, but it plays like a shitty mod.
Buy the original on GOG senpai. Original also has way more mod support.
