And yes I will commend an enemy support or tank or a DPS if I noticed them during the match messing us up. I almost always commend enemy roadhogs since they grab me past my teammates. I will not commend my friend for doing mediocre as a DPS or a torb with 12 turret kills, I'll just not vote if no one did anything impressive.

Lucio is the easiest character in the game by far, at least if we're talking about the minimum skill to be effective with. Many a game would have gone smoother if bad Mercy players switched to Lucio so they can survive without map awareness and keep us alive without worrying about positioning.
That said, a good Lucio speed boosting and wall riding around the point/payload in overtime, basically acting like a Tracer that heals, is really damn annoying to deal with and pretty fun to play when the situation calls for it.

Mercy is extremely powerful in a coordinated team but Lucio can do much better in solo queue, and at low MMR he's simply a much more effective healer because he's better at surviving alone and escaping unfavorable situations and can put out a ton of healing without even trying. Even in pro games you'll find him having more of an impact on Control (KotH) maps specifically, but they usually get banned by one or both teams so you don't see that as much.

Mercy outheals Lucio in competitive games because Mercy is doing nothing but healing while Lucio is kicking it into speed boost more frequently. There was one I was watching where every time a McCree would Deadeye, he was amping up a speed boost for him. My guess is they never use amped up heals and always use the amp for the speed boost, and without amping it up his healing output is worse than Mercy unless the ENTIRE team is being healed by him.

Mercy is generally required on most maps since Lucio by himself will not heal enough, so at best he's picked as a secondary support for his auras. However, the current meta revolves around Mercy's ult so she's indispensable for those 4-5 man rezzes you see all the time in competitive games.
There's a reason why Mercy is shooting back up to near 100% pick rate while Lucio has fallen to 80-90%.

While we are at it, I saw /v/ talking endless shit about Genji, especially about his ultimate, one anon even said once that if they made his ultimate his right click attack it would be a nerf seeing how shit it is, but in this tourney, Genji was often counterpicked by the Offense hero player of the squad (which would usually play either Pharah or Reaper), and he could almost singlehandedly always change the match entirely. His ultimate dealt immense damage and thanks to his movement he could always get almost the whole team dead with it, and of course he is fantastic at killing Mercy, first thing Genji would always do, to prevent the Resurrect meta to fuck up his team's hard work. I'm not a professional player but from watching this toruney it felt like Genji was by far the most dangerous and useful Offense hero in the game, and one of the strongest heroes in general.
On the opposite barely any team ever used a sniper, Hanzo was nonexistant, while Widowmaker was used a couple of times at best, she was super rare. She would pull some crazy as hell kills when she was around, but yet she was never played much at all.

Today I got to test something out. I've always thought of Lucio's ult like a pre-resurrection. When the team is about to be hit with something that will kill everyone pop the Lucio sound barrier and tank it. So there was a rip-tire coming from the rooftops and I "oh let's break it down." Tire explodes in my face and kills me with my sound barrier combined 700hp. Check the wiki and the tire is only supposed to to 600 damage. Did Junkrat get buffed or did Lucio get nerfed?

Wow, I can't believe this thread is still up.
Going back to the competitive discussion we were having yesterday, why do you guys think nobody uses Defense heroes in competitive Overwatch? I watched that tourney from start to finish yesterday, and nobody used a single Defense hero at all, only Widowmaker a couple of times and Junkrat literally once, all the others went untouched.
Are Defense heroes extremely bad? Do they need to be fixed?

I did play titanfall a lot and can reasonably wallrun with lucio. But somehow it feels a lot less fluid in this game.

In a game where 3/4s of the roster can wipe out a team in seconds, with a good portion of the roster being squishy, having mercy the way she is right now is completely reasonable.

They need to change her ult to either have a cast time before she resurrects or change it so it has to be used preemptively instead of after someone dies. There's just literally zero counterplay to it. Mercy's ult can counter every other single ult in the entire game.
What about D.Va, Symmetra, Zenyatta and Roadhog? Roadhog was kind of used a few times, but I would say still less than 10% of the matches shown. D.Va was used twice and the player did shit with her both times, Symmetra once in Hollywood, Zenyatta never ever.
Consider the twices and onces in the context of 40+ matches, and it basically means they were never used at all.
What does /v/ think of those heroes? Do they need help?

Roadhog is like Pudge in Dota, he does better in pubs than any competitive game. D.Va certainly needs some help, not sure what though. Less spread, less falloff so she doesn't have to be RIGHT Next to someone? Zenny is too squishy. Symmetra is extremely situational. She doesn't bring a lot of immediate damage, only gives 25 shield, turrets that don't work against people who know what they're doingAnd Winston's weapon. He's popular in comp.and Teleporter is basically a bad Revive.

He has a point. I play a decent amount amount of Lucio and he probably has the lowest skill floor of any of the support. Anyone can pick him up and be useful.
He also has one of the highest skill callings in the game though. A good Lucio can 1 vs 1 most flankers and wall ride to pretty much any location. His speed boost if used correctly makes any push much more dangerous and his sound barrier can be used to counter enemy ultimates.

I heal teams on the objective, not lose cannons sticking to the outskirts of the map.
