>>
Battleborn went pretty quietly since Overwatch completely consumed it.

Mighty No 9 has been a multi-year process of hope, doubt, and then disaster. It started as one of the big Kickstarter campaigns that made everyone think the system could create dream games, began to get muddled with the other campaigns they created, started controversy with that one community manager, killed its hype with constant almost hilarious delays, put out a cringe-worthy trailer, and then finally delivered a game that's pretty mediocre to broken in some aspects.

Battleborn came out, was average at best, then was forgotten with the next wave of games. Mighty No 9 was multiple years of emotions for people ending up with complete disappointment and mediocrity.

No one but nostalgia fags expected anything out of Mighty No. 9.

Battleborn on the other hand is a massive flop, the studio's most expensive game (undoubtedly more expensive then #9 too) and Gearbox expected it to be a new big thing that would not only sell a shitload but also move merchandise, if those retarded trading cards and figurines are any indication.

>Inafune-san said “You know, I want to word this in a way to explain some of the issues that come with trying to make a game of this size on different platforms.” He’s like “I’m kind of loath to say this because it’s going to sound like an excuse and I don’t want to make any excuses. I own all the problems that came with this game and if you want to hurl insults at me, it’s totally my fault. I’m the key creator. I will own that responsibility.”

Anyone else feel sad for him?
>>
>>342437852
Mighty No. 9 was a scam that netted them millions without paying a dime whereas Battleborn was made by idiots who cant into marketting who scrapped all semblance of a story with memes and shitty humor with muh powerful womyn agenda.
>>
>>342439248
I think the biggest problem was trying to port the game to every fucking platform and using the shitty unreal engine
>>

>>
>>342438414
That's not the fucking cover of the game you misinformed retard.
Don't you have a scamstarter to back somewhere?
>>
As much as people *want* it to be a catastrophe, MN9 isn't *bad*. It's awfully mediocre and disjointed, but I wouldn't say it's worse than, say Megaman X5 when it was released on PSX.

And I say that as someone that has played all Megaman games since the first one NES on release day.
>>
>>342439365

I don't know about sad, but I do feel disgusted by the mob mentality of people and game journalists having the courage of kicking a man while he's down and there's no one to support him.

I do think the game is average/mediocre, but then read the reviews for it and then compare with, oh, I don't know, Dragon Age 2?

Not to mention how fucking missing the point a lot of those are. It's like they never played a megaman (or X) game in their life. Oh, who am I kidding, of course many of them didn't.

Mighty No. 9 had an actual sizeable fandom wishing it success before it dragged out for 3 years, kept asking for money, put it all into franchising instead of developer-polish, and made a mediocre game with cringe audio. I'd say it was worse.

Battleborn was a massive drop itself, but hardly anybody could give a shit with that clusterfuck artstyle, MOBA-shooting and Gearbox being involved.

I expected to hate MN9 so hard but I ended up really liking it a lot. That said, it is definitely the bigger blunder even if it is an enjoyable game. So much shit went down that shouldn't have, and it won't be able to recover from it.
>>
Battleborn may of been bad, but Mighty No. 9 has bricked a few Wii U users of the game. I'd rather play a shitty game than play a shitty game that could potentially break my Wii U.

Battleborn because at least MN9 made money.
And have you seen Battleborn's HUD? What a cluster
>>
I enjoyed mighty no. 9

Few complaints, game was way too short... most $60 games youll get a good 20+ hours. Mighty gave me around 2 hours. For $20
>>
It's hard to choose one or the other because they're both such different kinds of failures, amazing in their own ways.

MN9 is incredible in how huge of a tidal wave of shit it created, with years of buildup to boost it even more.
Whereas battleborn is the opposite, it's impressive in just how little of a splash it made, garnering virtually nobodies attention and fading into obscurity mere days after being released.

Financially? Battleborn. It was their highest budgeted project yet and it died flat outright.
Mighty No.9 is however the more insulting one. What with teasing fans and being generally disingenuous and scummy about the whole campaign.

But you know. Mighty No.9 likely turned a profit. And Battleborn might kill Gearbox unless they can pull of some deals or have some favors in stock.

I agree, I'm still surprised on how this game just completely fell off the race track. Shit even those cheap VNs on Steam make more of a splash than this crap did.

I think people are just tired of Randy's lies and sociopathy and Gearbox has an incredibly tarnished image after A:CM and the whole embezzlement hypothesis. Not to mention years of small things leading up to this like BL2 being full of memes and having the worst writing in the history of games, Anthony Burch's cuck-meltdown , etc.

Did the presequel shit sell? I haven't touched a Gearbox game since they killed Brothers in Arms.

Good riddance to them, I say. Should've stayed a PC porting company with the occasional original expansion pack.
>>
People who play video games have the attention-span of a goldfish, Inafune will be fine in a year or two if he keeps quiet. Mighty No. 9 is trash, but he got 4 million and you bet he's got some of that stashed away somewhere.

Gearbox funded and created Battleborn all on their own with their own cash. Inafune was using other peoples money, so he's fine. Gearbox on the other hand can't afford to have Battleborn flop - Which it has, tremendously. At least MO9 actually sold some copies. Battleborn is the bigger blunder by far.

At most he'll probably never lead a project again, but that's not to say he'll stop being used as an artist and ideas guy by other companies, like ReCore with Microsoft and Soul Sacrifice with Sony. Hell, ReCore and Red Ash both got funded by third parties even after it was well established MN9 was going through some serious development problems.

>these people acting like $4 million is a lot
When you factor in the costs of development, $4M is really not that much, especially over 3 years and on what did he say, 11 platforms or something (which was admittedly an error)?
The game is mechanically fun, though, and I don't know why people are bullshitting that every special weapon sucks, because so far all of the ones I have (all but #6's) are usable throughout regular stages except Seismic's, which is very useful where it is useful.
The biggest complaint I have is the frame-drops and glitches. I've experienced a softlock on #3's boss fight and crazy audio glitches with the music in #7's stage.
However, if they fixed the glitches (DS already fixed the most glaring ones so I have hope), it has potential to be a solid spiritual successor, at least in my opinion.

Battleborn was supposed to be Gearbox's most ambitious game and cost more than Borderlands 2 but only got a fraction of the sales. Considering the studio layoffs, I'd say that was a bigger blunder.

Biggest blunder IMO is pic related. It killed what was left of Free Radical at Crytek and it performed, played, and sold like shit

The more I look at stuff from battleborn the more I think it was made by aliens trying to replicate humor but none of them actually understand what it is.

You don't know how shocked I was when I found out that the game was coming out in about a week (this was a week before its release) from a redbox machine. I thought this shit was literally delayed till 2018.

No one on here even knew that it came out, and I got the same reaction from other anons when I told them that the game was coming out/came out.

What a terrible IP.

No one wanted that, everyone expected it to be terrible, and it was terrible. It completely met our expectations, so it succeeded on that front.

I've never even heard of this. Is this a sequel to the other Homefront also known as Red Dawn: The game?

Sort of, it shares a premise but it's different from the original.

Battleborn was going to be shit from the very beginning.
Mighty No.9 was hyped as fucked for years and was funded 4 million on kickstarter.

yeah, but battleborn was gearboxes big, "throw everything we got into it" title, i doubt they were/are working on anything else but that. plus the initial funds dumped into it were vastly larger, and they actually needed to make returns from it. which they most definitely have not.

mn9 was honestly a side project that was pre funded, so no money had to be made back for it, and infune is still involved with other ongoing projects even at this very moment.

They are trying to cover up the lack of players now
And banning new accounts made on Reddit for being "suspicious"
>>
>>342454330
what the hell constituents as being "suspicious"? banning them will solve nothing, even if thay arent legit, banning enough people that the public is even aware of it happening, regardless of reason, is not going to look good for them.
>>
>>342454330
I thought reddit was an open forum? What's this about accounts? Shady as fuck either way
>>
>>342454532
>>342454623
Someone posted a conversation between a mod and someone else, he said that were was ab increased amount of new accounts created than the usual rate, so he did a auto-block for new accounts of they are done less than 2 days and ban some of them
