The demo was pretty good, considering the Kickstarter started a little over a year ago.
I played on controller, and the only complaint I had was that if the left thumbstick went at all below the center, Miriam would go into a crouch -- which seemed pretty sensitive to me.
Otherwise 9/10 changed from cautiously optimistic to greatly optimistic.

Well, shit it's looking good.
I got upto 1080p on this thing.
Animations felt relatively well much better than I was expecting, though aiming with just the kick moves seems to be weird not sure if it's something I am not used to or what.
A really cool thing I haven't seen elsewhere is to do a quarter circle forward using the movement keys and she does this sorta crouch slide thing akin to the EWGF movement in Tekken games.
The boss was kinda cool though the tentacles looked a bit weird.
The lighting overall didn't look as drab as what I was seeing the videos. Maybe because I am playing in the dark.
For those, who can't into Xinput, I was too hyped to go downstairs and get my controller, so here are the keyboard keys I figured out
WSAD - your basic movement stuff
Space bar - jump
Z - backdash
X - the B button cancel out of stuff
E - does the fire shard attack (blue shards)
Left Mouse Button - regular attack
Right Mouse Button - does the water attack thing (red shards)
B (or P, too i think) - brings up the pause menu
O - Map
Oh and you can use either Z or Enter to confirm stuff. Couldn't figure out right analog stick aim buttons though.

Inafune promised a successor to MN9, and in 3 years' time, delivered a buggy mess that didn't live up to the hype. Budget was 4 million.
Meanwhile, Iga promised a game just like Castlevania, and in one year's time, delivered an alpha that's exactly what was promised: A Castlevania game with visuals that actually resembled its concept art.

I feel that Mighty No 9 didn't really change that much throughout its dev period. Like what we all saw that made us change our views on the game (that one short video of it) MN9 for the most of it was just like that with more items and what not added.
Being a backer of Bloodstained, I'll say that the early stuff that was not concept art looked kinda shitty like MN9, too, but from there things have been changing constantly for the better. The people who are working on this game really take into consideration both what their actual concepts/themes are supposed to be and what it is that the fans would like.

The reason for MN9 being mediocre came out yesterday. Badically Inafune wanted to make a lot of money as fast as possible and took money from the kickstarter to make more ports than originally planned. He split the development into making 10 fucking versions of the game and nobody could focus on the actual game because they were trying to make it run on so many different platforms. The end result was a mediocre ugly game.

My review of the E3 Demo
Took about 12 minutes to beat, was very easy ( too easy , hopefully this was just for new comers to the series at E3 )
I found a few souls, got the giant armor things hand smash attack.
I have tried to slash every wall, didn't find anything hidden :(
Game feels and flows extremely well ( minus some random lag I got when lots of things were on the screen ) , plays like SOTN but with the souls from Aria of Sorrow.
You can choose to play with just melee kicks or swords ( but since both do the same damage why wouldn't you pick sword )
Overall very promising, if the next demo/beta has hidden objects and a harder difficulty will be 10/10.

Considering this is a beta demo overall it seems to play and look quite nice, my only issue is the times when it froze.

Differences between alpha and beta testing are company specific, but usually Alpha testing is more focused as a first line of defense against glitches, and making sure the game runs as intended. You have much finer control over the character's movements in castlevania, so it's more about positioning and dodging than about offense. Enemies don't react to getting hit so having combos with different properties like frame animations or high/low is pointless. Not to mention every enemy has contact damage.
