Personally I've never liked how movement felt in any of the Shantae games granted Pirates Curse is the fastest of the 3. I think level design is quite dull, none of the dungeons are particularly challenging or have interesting gimmicks to them and all of the island overworlds are just flatout boring. Also not a fan of the art direction a lot of background elements are clearly drawn art assets and filtered to look like pixel art instead of being pixel art from the ground up like the character sprites and most of the foreground objects, it's quite jarring. A great example is the desert area, the sand dunes in the background are terrible looking. Not to mention the text boxes just give off a vibe of mediocrity that does the games no favors.

I always see this argument with games. What makes good level design? Is that something anyone can be an authority on? I thought the level design itself was typical of any metroid/castelvania game, if you ask me.

I backed up to soundtrack level just to get that jake kaufman sound. I've listened to the MSF 1 &2 OST's hundreds of times and didnt pay a penny for them so I wanted to pay this time.
