The problem with this is, that you're using the community as an argument AGAINST TF2. How is lime a bad colors? Many cosmetic look very cool with this colors and it fit well in many of them. Excepted. That some people with bad tastes or purposely decided to use it on everything. Is it the fault of the TF2team? No. Is it the game being shit? No. It's the community.

Okay, i want to make up my mind about this game.
I played it a bit back when hats were not a thing and it was still not f2p. It was fun for a couple of weeks but i dropped it, forgetting.
Then people cried it's f2p. Then people cried about furries, afk servers, trading scams, whatever. Then everyone is crying that it's dead.
I know it has a lot of players, but who are they? Who is playing TF2 still?
Everyone who played it long ago left. I can't imagine anyone picking it up right now seeing how it's so hard to get into all the items, and the game is dated and there's this new game everyone is talking about, you know. Is it people too invested in it to drop it? Casuals who picked it up 3 or 4 years ago?
And why is it talked about like a competitive game? Does it have a ladder of some kind or rankings or something? Are there teams and tourneys?
I'm sorry i don't know much about the game but would like to learn about it. I just don't get why a cartoony game with no depth and paid items is still alive.

The game lost everything that made it worthwhile. Balance has long been gone. The unique 50's/60's theme has long since been abandoned. The game is just a mish-mash and has too much going on.
TF2 is unplayable for me and has been for years.

Honestly, Overwatch or no, people have been calling Tf2 dead for a long time, and for good reason. I don't know who the 50k active players are, they certainly aren't on /v/ since nobody in these threads talks about actually playing the game, but I don't know anyone that used to play the game in its heyday and hasn't quit yet. Honestly, I don't know anyone who still plays it. Even in my steam friends list which is 80% people I met in Tf2, I haven't seen anyone ingame for a long time. I say this as someone who put 2500+ hours into the game over many years and will almost certainly remember it more fondly than Overwatch in the long run, Tf2 has had its time and needs to rest.
