But that's Quattro Bajeena

If you're into more sort-of down-to-earth military with a sprinkle of political shit, you should go watch the UC timeline in production order.
Personally I'm only at Episode 6 of Zeta right now, 0079 is a huge drag to go through, but Zeta's a huge step up in terms of animation and MC
>>342375596
Sometimes, titles in Japanese look cool as fuck.
>>342379508
If you thought 0079 was a drag, wait until you're 40 episodes into Zeta and the plot only just started.
i don't read moonrunes, what is this?
>>342379830
Armored Trooper VOTOMS, you casual.
>>342379274
prepare to watch the most autistic anime ever
>>342375596
it's fucking perfect
Mechs are the most impractical and retarded thing you could incorporate into war. Especially when you factor in the obligatory 13 year old kid that has to pilot it.
No wonder the nips lost the war.
>>342379508
0079 was amazing man. I watched it in 2 days it was that good. ZZ is a fucking drag, have fun with that and how it ruins best girl haman.
Also amuro is god tier MC.
>>342380051
I have no idea how to set my expectations now.
>>342380160
The war is kind of the reason why they think this way now.

It was absolutely perfect.
>>342380160

>>342384837
If we're talking robots shooting eachother and cool animation, yeah. Big Battle and Roots are great.
If we're talking actual story quality, no. The original series is really the only decent entry in that regard.
>>342384837
If you're talking about VOTOMS, and are referring to Shining Heresy, Alone Again, and Phantom Arc, then no.
They're redundant and just make Chirico's life worse.
But the other stuff like Red Shoulder Document, Mellowlink, etc, then yes watch them.

>>342386816
I enjoyed it but I'm not into grinding enough to want to replay it to get all the parts in MG size. It's simple podcast listening material, mostly.
>>342375596
Votoms is hardly a mecha anime. It's mostly about the development of the mc and the mistery around him. Mecha are only there as tool of war and that's why Votoms is one of my favourite anime. The battle tactics of the mc are smart and I enjoyed it a lot.
>>342392035
Most mecha anime are about the characters though.
>>342392546
Modern mecha anime such as the last gundam series are an excuse to sell more models.
>>342393337
It's a shame that good designs are wasted on dogshit, though.
>>342392035

There's a lot to like in that game, but it is pretty rough around the edges.
>>342398549
VS mode is so much fun.
I have yet to find a game quite like Machines: Wired for War.
I was never that good with RTS games, hence why I'd like to just see a match in that game between competent players.
Also, first RTS/FPS hybrid ever I came accross. You can manually control every unit and use their unique abilities how you wish.
>>342398892
I KNOW. But none of my friends really liked the game, said it was too hard.
I was in love with it, bushido blade, etc.
;__; Since I'm seeing webms and gifs of it, does that mean there's a ROM or some shit I can play it on PC with? I've still got my ps2 and the game, but would love to be able to do it on pC.
You guys might want to check out HIGH MACS SIM.
It's a gungriffon-esque fanmade game.
>>342399047
All I remember is playing as a little satellite looking thing that caused huge explosions.
>>342398837
granted i'm only 6 hours in and i have a high bar of tolerance since i'm used to playing PS2 games.
but the way the game plays seems totally fine, i actually like the combat a lot, and the customization, and the dialog options.
framerate can get a little janky but that's not uncommon.
Steambot chronicles is just so ambitious with the insane amount of customization, and a pool minigame and all the areas and like 10 rythm minigames for different instruments.
it just blows my mind.
also i got lucky and got it used for 8€ while it usually goes for 30€ used.
guess the price is a good reason why very few people played it.
>>342398283

>>342398269
Not sure. I seen someone stream the English version on Twitch and thus realized how underrated this gem is.
>>342399412
I'm fairly sure they mention it early on.
But it's been a while since I've watched it.
>>342399412
Mentioned a couple times.
I'm more interested in how other than Shako's machine being named once, barely any of the ATs are given their names.
I heard it from promotional materials, recorded stuff from Mahq and fans. Game even gives you the name of the at used.
Scopedog is that green AT Chirico uses commonly.
>>342399412
I can only recall them naming the Strikedog in show.
and they only say VOTOMS like twice tops
>>342375879
Yeah, playing it makes you realize how shit /v/'s taste truly is.
It wouldn't be praised here if it had becomed the next souls back then.
>>342399047
If fps-rts hybrids are your thing, look up the games Urban Assault and Maelstrom
Maelstrom's the newer but I'm sure you can only control heroes in that and it's third person, UA you can control anything (even helicopters as this wonky screenshot shows)
>>342400405
It still has the same kinda charm that, for example, Deadly Premoniton has.

Just binged the series again recently. Scope Dog is mentioned.
Also, Armour Hunter Mellowlink has Scope Dogs mentioned throughout. Good watching if you like VOTOMS
>>342401356
The VOTOMS PS2 game would have been even more perfect if it had a Mellowlink segment in it, since it did have AT Rifles and on foot parts in it.
There was even one mission in the Quent segment of the PS2 game where you had to take out ATs using only the AT Rifle, or you could jack an AT using it.
>>342401006
>displacing children
>the blessed ephemeral energy cell
>getting a shopkeeper drunk then fucking him into insanity
>>342392546
The point is that whereas Gundam is all about who has the best superpowered prototype mecha, and then who gets the next superpowered prototype mecha, and everything that isn't a superpowered prototype mecha is completely irrelevant, VOTOMS instead has mass-production death traps where the only prototype mecha's features are being slightly faster and getting a blue paintjob. It's much more focused on characters' piloting skills and the tactics Chirico comes up with to defeat opponents, and Chirico goes through dozens of units throughout the show.
>>342380720
>>342375596
Translation where? I'd love to play a VOTOMS game.
This seems like the right thread to ask. I remember a PlayStation 1 game demo where it was a top down sci-fi shooter with robots or something. It had different power ups on the map. Hope someone can help

Yes but ignore /m/, don't watch the 0079 movies as your first foray into UC. They're bad. Read The Origin and then watch the OVAs for animation porn and then Zeta to see what all the sperging is about.

The thing is an action Front Mission game isn't even that bad an idea.
Front Mission is ripe for an action style game, the way Wanzers skate around is never fully realized in the strategy games and there is a lot there to work off of and because Evolved was so bad people have come to the conclusion that it was bad because it wasn't a strategy game.
It was bad because fucking double helix can't make a decent game to save their life and Sqeenix just farmed out the franchise without a care in the world.

Demon's Souls basically ruined gaming for me, since nothing since has been able to recreate the highs and lows and overall experience.
MGS gets a lot of shit, for some reason, but I always felt like it was the best game of its kind. The only games I've played that are really comparable are the Syphon Filter games.
Same with Armored Core. Some of the Gundam games are similar, but there's really nothing, that I've played, that's quite like AC.

Underrated as fuck, pretty solid with alternative endings depending on how much you kill or don't kill, attitude of the main character and her voice line change depending on how much you kill or don't kill where she goes from having a distaste for killing to enjoying it.

A game very alike Super Metroid but underwater and with comfy music. Exploration based, great (in my opinion at least) design when it comes to environments and has plenty of secrets and stuff to find. You can "Cook" by mixing ingredients together and get food that has different effects, from healing to raising max stats I think. You switch forms and do different things through "Singing", which is basically playing notes in certain orders to do things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5sA_tyTM94
Legend of Grimrock 2 is better than the first one but both are enjoyable experiences that is a love letter to old-school dungeon crawlers. Simple but satisfying gameplay and you can choose between various races and classes when making your team.
La-Mulana
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnufDNWKUjI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okWHGsKpUYE
Imagine a cross between Super Metroid and Indiana Jones with the difficulty and puzzles raised to the roof. That is La-Mulana which is a solid singleplayer experience where it's recommended you got notes to write shit down on. This game will treat you like a goddamn fucking explorer and if you do the mistake of not writing shit down and drawing the various symbols and images you see, you will get stuck. This game does not hold your hand.

A lot of what the others said isn't a bad idea. The UC stuff is great in terms of more military/political stuff.
0079 the show drags like a motherfucker. It's not "the legendary 0079" that people think of anyway the franchise didn't get fuck huge until all of 0079 got split into three movies. Watch the movie trilogy version it cuts out a lot of the stupid shit from the show, is a quick watch, and is the real culturally important show based thing to come from Gundam.
Zeta Gundam will feel slow as shit in terms of the general plot moving. But within a lot of that compression you get a lot of character development and a stupidly large amount of subtle political themes (like I know most people often don't even notice it but the show very subtly has A LOT of political stuff.) Thus more a character/political piece rather than one moved by the plot, and it works in the weird way it does here because the show has a lot of characters and it goes in-depth with all of them.
ZZ starts off kinda goofy and is thus the weakest from the original stuff because of how directionless the earlier episodes feel since they don't compensate such slow plot moving with the density of Zeta, but in the second half of the series when shit actually happens the tone changes completely and is worth watching for that.
Then the final piece in the set of the original UC stuff is Char's Counterattack movie which rounds off the main Federation and Zeon and Amuro/Char aspect of what the previous shows established. This movie had a far larger budget than even most modern anime so while the graphics themselves look more like their time, the animation is next level cool stuff.
After those four, if you have determined that you enjoy UC stuff, I would personally recommend:
0080: War In The Pocket
The 8th MS Team
Unicorn (the OVA not the currently released version it's just inferior)
Other stuff that isn't too great but if you care:
0083: Stardust Memory
F91
Victory Gundam
>>342414915
Wish Keita Takahashi would make actual games again instead of "playground" games.
>>342379274
In terms of non-UC stuff there's a variety of stuff.
If you enjoyed the overthetop aspects of G Gundam, Gundam Build Fighters is the anime for you. It's basically the Beyblade or something of Gundam where they use their gundam model kits to fight other people. But since storywise they are models in a simulated battle setting, they get away with really cool fights.
If UC feels too old fashioned for you, you can maybe watch the original Gundam SEED which is more modern but not as dense as UC stuff and is more cliche anime.
If you want OP as fuck super strong borderline super robots of G Gundam but with more serious stuff, there's Gundam 00.
If you want a far more different premise compared to other Gundam shows, there are Turn A Gundam and After Wars Gundam X.
And for an alternate retelling of certain backstory aspects of 0079, there's the OVA from last year Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin.
>>342415592
Are capule's supposed to be smaller than zakus? I feel like they would be the same size.
As for my pick for this topic, it's pic related.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Battlefield Record U.C. 0081
After this company released not only one of the worse Gundam games, but among the worse games of all time with Gundam Crossfire, the chances of this game coming here like that one was more or less zero. But shit, Bec learned from Crossfire BIG TIME. Fantastic customization as there should be for a mech game, with a great online play system, and most importantly probably the best simulation of Gundam that exists because of how the mechs and the gameplay in general feel. Cool Gundam story, too.
>>342416020
yes about 4 meters shorter
>>342416020
Yeah. By quite a bit. I think it's like a 3 meter difference. Zakus are pretty tall, even slightly edging out your typical RX model design Gundam by like half a meter or so. That and their bulkiness is supposed to be part of their whole intimidation shtick.
>>342410837
Iji has a TON of easter eggs. Neither the combat nor the exploration are very deep, but the game is just the right length for what depth there is, and the more complex systems surrounding everything else make up for it.

>>342415004
I picked up The Origin vol.1 and really loved it, but I heard that it changes plot points around. Would that be okay to substitute in for 79, or should I still watch that after reading the Origin series?
>>342407548
they definitely need to make a sequel kek
>>342416954
Nooooo watch the 0079 movie trilogy! There are some pretty big changes. I wanna say more, but I won't spoil you.
>>342416812
Oh yeah, that game was cool as shit. Another good one in terms of trying to give a feel that's more akin to the show.
>>342416906
Hygogg's are slightly shorter than Capules.
>>342417717
At least hygoggs look intimidating.
>>342417838
It's the price you pay for getting a transformation...which also funnily enough looks like a fish which is also not intimidating. Mobility over intimidation with that one I guess. Though the Turn A Kapool one doesn't even have that transformation but can work in space.

No. From Wikipedia: Theresia is a psychological horror visual novel adventure game from a first-person perspective, consisting of two stories, each sharing a common background: an unnamed country, presumably under strict martial law by the time the game takes place, is engaged in a fierce and bloody war with an unspecified opposing nation. No further details are provided: the player is then thrust directly into the role of Leanne, protagonist of the first half of the story. Upon completion, a shorter second chapter with an unnamed protagonist is unlocked, providing a deeper insight into the overarching background narrative.
Throughout the course of the game, both characters have to explore their confinements, trying to escape and learn the details of their past, avoiding traps and coming face to face with personal demons and other psychological dilemmas along the way. The game made use of the Nintendo DS touch screen capabilities.
