Because it's the most overrated game of all time besides maybe Bioshock Infinite. You don't get to be game of the year if your actual gameplay is shit.
Story, graphics, sound, dialogue, sidequests, world design, it's all fantastic in TW3. But actually fighting people is mediocre at best, and mediocre combat turns to shit combat after the 25 hour mark.
50 percent of the things you do in the open world are total fucking busywork (kill five drowners with your instakill crossbow in the water that does fuckall damage on land to get some crafting materials in a chest, destroy the monster nests, make a small section of land inhabitable again which changes nothing in the story or the world besides getting a new merchant which has fuckall coin)
And while the story and sidequests are well written, the gameplay involved in those quests is total ass. Hold down right click for Witcher Senses, find the red thing, use it to continue. With main and side quests you're either talking people to advance the quest, or Witcher Sensing detective work, and I honestly can't think of a single side or main quest besides writing and performing the play that was interesting in any way shape or form.
Out of all the fucking games I'd expect for /v/'s dick to suck, TW3 was the LAST possible game I would've guessed.

Because /v/ loves to shitpost. Downgrade posts for a year, and its by far the best looking game of the year. Especially with the mods available shortly after the modkit became available.
But /v/ loves to drag things out. It can't just be a jab here or punch there, it has to be so constant that they run it into the ground. So now we have muh downgrade, which is a beautiful game, and somehow DS2, the new Zelda and every other game with a bullshot (all of them) get a pass, because we've gone 1 to shit on.
And thats just graphics. The story is even more 'triggering' for most because the game shows Triss to be Geralt's lover. This gets under the skin of Yenfans whom prefer the Disney tier Geralt is in love with Yen because Yen is retarded and though she could take on a djinn, so Geralt was for forced into using his last wish to save her from herself. Happily ever after.
